  1. Suziecat, I will be taking you up on your offer. You probaby look like a totally different person. Was your first few weeks after being banded very hard. I will be babysitting my 4 month old grandson and just wonder how long after surgery that will be posible. Maggie:shades_smile:
  2. Altoonasoup, Welcome to the Oct. 29ners. It is the first day of the rest of our lifes. I don't believe I just said that, but it is true. My surgeon only requires two days of clear liquids before surgery. At first I thought it was just one and was happy about that. I have been real strict since I found out my date and have lost 7lbs. Next Thursday I hope we will all be on here comparing notes. Maggie:shades_smile:
  3. Suziecat, A BIG congratulations on the 170lbs. You sure have motivated me. Are you at goal yet? Again congratulations. Maggie
  4. Hi everybody, I am now an October bander. My date was changed from Nov. 5th. to Oct. 29th. Sounds like you are all doing pretty good. I will be needing your guidance in a few days. Maggie:shades_smile:
  5. Tomatogirl It just hit me that your surgery date is Oct. 29th. also. Are you going home the same day. We will compare notes later next week. Maggie:shades_smile:
  6. 5 days and counting. I'm enjoying moving around with no pain, because I know I will not be feeling this good in a few days. How are you feeling JWRN & Penny? Maggie:shades_smile:
  7. The surgeon told me it will be an outpatient procedure, so hopefully I won't be staying overnite. I have had 4 surgeries in the past year and am sick of hospitals. I hope I feel like going home, but you never know till its over. Have a good weekend. Maggie:shades_smile:
  8. That sounds more like it, 10%. It should'nt be to much and I'm sure you will be billed for it. And if need be they would probably set up a payment plan for you. I am not wearing a bra home, just a baggy shirt. I have a 2 1/2 hour each way trip to Sacramento for the surgery. I am leaving here early Tuesday morning and staying at my sons house down there. I don't know yet if we will be driving home after the surgery or spending another nite there. Depends on how I feel. I have a preop appt. Tuesday so that is why I am going a day early. I look forward to us all comparing notes afterwards. It is going to be great to compare how we feel and help each other thru each step. Here's to all Oct. 29ners. :thumbup:Maggie:shades_smile:
  9. wvgal, What insurance company are you with.? Wow, they only pay 10% on your surgery. From what I have been told the surgery is anywhere between $10,000. and 15,000.00. And of course the longer you are in the hospital the more it will cost. You should call the ins. company and demand answers. Are you having your surgery in Huntington or Charleston? Good luck and let me know what you find out. Maggie:shades_smile:
  10. Grateful1, My surgery was changed today for Oct. 29, also. I am having it at Sutter Hospital in Sacramento, Which Hospital are you having yours? Who is your doctor? Mine is Dr. Patching on Howe Ave.? WvaGal, small world, I was born & raised in WV. Where do you live in that beautiful state. Lots of us on Oct. 29. Maggies:shades_smile:
  11. JWRN, Wow, I'm excited, and yes a little nervousness has creeped in. You are doing great after your rough start. Mine should be an outpatient surgery. I am leaving for my sons house early Tuesday morning because I have a preop appt. with the surgeon that day. Don't know if I will coming home Wed. or Thursday. It is a 2 1/2 hour trip each way. My daughter is driving me. Do you think I could make the trip home after the surgery? I was thinking that I will still be under the influence of drugs from the surgery and it might be better than the day after. Everybody let me know your opinions. Maggie:shades_smile:
  12. UPDATE, My surgery is now Oct. 29, at 11am. Maggie:shades_smile:
  13. You sound like you are really adjusting well to bandlife. You are brave if you took the pump out yourself. I couldn't do it, to big of a chicken. I don't mind shots and such if I don't look. Keep up the good work, walk, walk, walk. Karina, any news yet. If you need Mrs. Frasiers direct number, let me know. You are going to be successful one way or the other. Maggies:shades_smile:
  14. Penny, Any regrets yet? That may be a silly question to ask, but since mine is so close and I have heard so many people say the first week they have buyers remorse. Where exactly is your port located and can you feel it. I know each doctor puts them in different places. Feeling hungry I know is going to be a hard thing to deal with, but having the band will surely encorage us to eat right. We don't want to do damage to it or us. Did you make your first appt. for a fill yet? Hope you feel better each day. Maggie:shades_smile:
  15. I need to update my weight loss ticker. Can someone help me, I've tried to and it doesn't work. Help Maggies:shades_smile:
  16. Wow Karina, they have you going around in circles. It looks like yours is going to the top for approval/denial. You have the 100lbs. to lose how about the one health issue? Whey you called Travis, did you talk to A Mrs. Frazier. She is the go-between for bariatric patients and the surgeons. I'm sure she would be very helpful to you. Well keep on trying you will get it sooner or later. Maggies:shades_smile:
  17. Tricare does not require the 6 month weight program, unless they changed in the last day or so. I was approved for surgery on Oct. 17, and I did not have to have it. Call Tricare and talk to them. Good luck on your journey. Maggies:shades_smile:
  18. Welcome back HelloPenny, Glad to hear you are on the mend. Tell us all about it when you are up to it. Maggie:shades_smile:
  19. Karina, I don't know anything about Tricare Remote, but from what Tomatogirl said you can do it. All you will need is a letter from your doctor referring you for the gastric bypass. That is all Travis does. That is why I am going to an off base doctor because I decided I wanted the lapband. I see your from Mountain View, where is that located?? If Tricare denies you this time it sounds like you have other options. It will just take time and work. It was Sept. 07 that I first got my referral letter to Travis for gastric bypass. But then of course I changed my mind so had to start over with everything for the lapband. But a lot of the tests are the same so that was one good thing. Well good luck and keep trying. Maggie:shades_smile:
  20. I say go for it. It's never to late to get in shape. There is an over 60 group on here. Check them out. I'm sure they will be more than willing to tell you about their experiences with the band. Good Luck, Maggies:shades_smile:
  21. Karina, Are you going to have the Gastric Bypass or Lapband? Is your husband active duty? I could have had the gastric bypass at Travis AFB, without going thru Tricare. Why don't you call some military hospitals and see what it would take to have it done at one of them. It would be another option for you if Tricare denies you again. Darn, I am not pregnant, o well maybe next time. I was ready to call the Guiness Book of World Records. Yep, HelloPenny is probably banded by now and on the losers bench. Maggies:shades_smile:
  22. HelloPenny is being banded now. Yay for her. TomatoGirl, I'm right behind you on the banding. I had my preop test today. They did a pregnancy test and I had to laugh. I'm 54 years old and have had a complete hyster. (sorry don't know How to spell it).. So I told them to make sure they call me if I'm pregnant:lol:. Have a good day. Maggies:shades_smile:
  23. TomatoGirl do you have your surgery date yet? You may have said in an earlier post but I'm to lasy to look back. Where is Restless? Hiding again, no doubt. Maggie:shades_smile:
  24. Hello Penny, I will be thinking about you tomorrow. Good luck and let us know how your doing.:tongue2: Maggies:shades_smile:
  25. Me, I'm November 5th. Just two weeks away and I will be in bandland. :tongue2: It took a long time to get to this point. But after a denial by ins. company, finally approved this past Friday. Yay Maggie:shades_smile:
