Intro and question
Welcome. Not all but many bariatric centers require a psychological evaluation before surgery. As for supportive family i personally dont care what they or anyone thinks regarding my surgery. the surgery is for me not for them or anyone else. But i do have friends and family who prefer i dont get the surgery. But yea my bariatric center said those who are very overweight less than 5% ever manage to loose the weight and keep it off. Ive tried and tried and with the results of always gaining more weight than i started once i didnt keep up with the diets.

I've always wondered.....
After mexico you see your normal doctors here in the USA. your primary care doctor should know that you are getting the sleeve and that you are going to mexico for it. I went to my primary first to get their opinion on it. I thought about going to Mexico but i went against it simply because i wanted the surgery near my home.

3 weeks post op and struggling with nausea
My surgeon told me that the sleeve was the only one that was permanent, the bypass was reversible which was interesting. for me since i am paying out of pocket, Both are permanent because i dont have another 20 grand to spend on getting something reversed lol

Large Hiatal hernia: Bypass or Sleeve
One doctor i follow on youtube says he sees hernias all the time and he repairs them during the surgery, he only does sleeves (mexico one) but i have seen tons on here do sleeves and get their hernias repaired. Ive been curious if i have one and my surgery is next monday and the surgeon did say if there is one he would repair it.

Post Op Stomach Injections
Injections after surgery? WTF lol no one told me about this. I have surgery on the 18th. I do know about the injection they give you in the hospital to prevent blood clots but i didnt know that they prescribe that beyond your stay at the hospital... This is gonna suck bad if they do that to me because i hate needles with a passion

Messing up my pre-op diet ?
My bariatic center for our program specifically told us not to avoid caffeine during the pre op phase. Interesting how all the pre op diets are different lol.

Dehydration after surgery
all i have ever seen is to make sure to get in at least 64oz of water a day and obviously more is better. If you are more active then you need more water, but everyone is different. My local area has a company that sends a nurse to your house for IV hydration for a fee. I have them on speed dial just incase lol

Re-sleeve
i have never heard of someone getting resleeve. Its always bypass. So they are just making the sleeve again? your stomach stretched?

hiatal hernia
For those that had a hiatal hernia, Did you know before surgery or was it found out during surgery? Ive been curious on it because for the last year or so i have had center chest pain (very top of my stomach) and wondering if that could be it. Shall see if the surgeon finds anything in 9 days. thats one thing i forgot to ask about. as for this pre op diet... Day 6 is almost done and the hunger has subsided and its getting easier.

Sleeve with high BMI
you defiantly do have a chance of hitting your goal. Just stick to it! Have you talked to a surgeon yet? One surgeon i spoke to would not do gastric sleeve for people over i think it was like 58 BMI. That those with higher BMIs had to loose weight to get below a threashold (for safety issues) But of course every surgeon is different and have their own set of guidlines. I wish you the best of luck!

Over night stay at hospital. Yay or nay
I am having surgery on April 18th. Everyone stays minimum of one night, if you end up with any issues you stay 2 nights or longer. I would never want to go home the same day, I want to be somewhere where i can be monitored in case something is wrong and wont have to rush back to the hospital.

Messing up my pre-op diet ?
so my bariatric center says not to avoid carbs because yo will go into ketosis. The shakes they have us drink have 20 grams of carbs in each shake and we are to drink 5 of them.

1 week into my Pre-op

Messing up my pre-op diet ?
Yes i am getting sleeve surgery on April 18th. My pre op diet is 5 protein shakes a day. We are allowed to eat 1 very small meal a day if the hunger gets bad. 2-3 oz Lean meat like chicken, fish (baked or grilled), non starchy veggies 3-4 oz, and snacks like cottage cheese, non fat greek yogurt is allowed but limited. They prefer only the protein shakes but give us that other option

1 week into my Pre-op

Messing up my pre-op diet ?
Dont order anything. Stick to your diet... Its just 2 weeks. I am right there with you. Today is day 5 for me for my preop diet for 2 weeks. Its been horrible but manageable. I stick to 4 protein shakes a day and in the afternoon i have a 4oz piece of sockeye salmon with 3oz of veggies. That little meal helps a ton and its super healthy. Trust me i have been tempted hard to go to chick fil a and order a few chicken sandwiches lol. But surgery is right around the corner. Cant fail. especially me having paid $18K two weeks ago for this surgery. Worst thing that happens is they get you to the operating table, Open you up and see your liver is still huge and close you right back up. the whole purpose of this diet is to shrink that liver.

Price of diet?
Yes!!!! Before on the daily i would buy my breakfast, lunch, dinner averaging about $40 a day eating out and i did this every single day i rarely ever ate at home. So looking forward to not spending so much money on food anymore.
