  1. Fairlife, Premier protein, Boost, ensure ect... there are tons. They are not that expensive. you can get ready to drink or get the powder and make your own. But yes taste buds can change so i wouldnt get a bunch. Just enough for the pre op diet and a little after then you can buy what you like after surgery.
  2. You have nothing to worry about. Get in the liquids and protein. Your stomach will not stretch like that... liquids tend to go from your stomach to your small intestine in less than 30 minutes.
  3. Today marks day 4 of the pre op liquid diet. Its been rough at times but not as bad as i thought. One thing i have learned is the shakes that you have to mix yourself seriously suck. Prefer the ready to drink shakes so i bought those instead. Which have been the Carnation breakfast ones, Boost glucose control (which are delicious), and fairlife which i drink just 1 of those a day. My paperwork says if i do get too hungry that i can have 4 oz of lean meats like chicken or fish. So i have been having Sockeye Salmon once a day (which i eat in place of a shake) One big thing is to keep busy. sitting around all you think about is the hunger. spending lots of time out on the water to keep busy and away from food lol. 9 days to go... 4. I actually got my medical marijuana card back in 2019 when i got diagnosed with diverticulosis. and it worked amazing for the first year or so. After that it was no longer affective. I started to run into problems when i would use it and it would cause pain. no idea why and no doctor to see about it since technically marijuana is still illegal federally. But i switched to High CBD to low THC products and it helps a bit but not much.
  5. Yea i hear that the gas pains are the worst of it and pain medication dont really do anything for that. Shall see what they actually give once surgery is over. In any case i secured some pain medication to keep on hand just incase. I always like to keep some on hand because i also have a condition called Diverticulosis and when that flares up oh man the pain is intense and have to be on 2 antibiotics for 2 weeks til it clears up.
  6. That prop 65 is bull crap from California. I never ever pay attention to any of that or any other warnings coming out of that place. But what protein shakes are you talking about anyway? I have a bunch from bariatric pal. They are great. The little protein shots are intense in flavor
  7. After surgery you get several medications to take in pill form. You can take them. Some get pain killers, Acid reducers and other stuff.
  8. isnt Keto diet basically what most people go on after bariatric surgery? Basically we cant do carbs anymore so we do the healthy proteins like Chicken, Fish, eggs ect...
  9. Yes. ENDO HOSPITAL. its where i wanted to go if i was going to go to mexico. https://endohospital.mx/ and he has an amazing youtube channel as well. https://www.youtube.com/c/Endobariatric you can literally walk to his hospital from the border but they provide transportation. They only do sleeves tho i believe.
  10. So i am going over a powerpoint presentation that the hospital sent over basically telling you what happens once i arrive at the hospital, during surgery and after. One thing is they are not providing any kind of the good pain medication (narcotics) WTF lol. Heck when i get my wisdom teeth taken out they give you some. Looks like i am gonna have to make a call and stock up on some before surgery just incase.
  11. I am on preop diet right now and my instructions say that as well... To drink like hot broth that the heat and sodium will help with the hunger.
  12. Reminds me of my 45 minute zoom video call for my nutritionist appointment. Was $400 for literally nothing... I already knew everything they said and i said nothing the entire time. they could have just made a video and put it on youtube.
  13. That may be a issue if no doctors in your area accept that insurance. you may need to go to California to have the surgery. Best thing to do is honestly give their customer service number a call and see.
  14. THE CROCS!!! I forgot about those lmao. Going tomorrow to get me a pair for my surgery. Thanks for that reminder lol. oh and that throat spray, never heard of it... Gonna get me that too
  15. i had no idea that people kept the lap band in for so long. I thought that was a temporary thing for maybe a couple years or less.
  16. Yea they knock us out with general anesthesia. Most people have a appointment with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery to go over your medical history (I have my appointment next week for that)
  17. My parents know. Other peoples opinions are not my problem so i dont care if they support it or not lol. The purpose of the surgery is to better my life not theirs.
  18. I am currently on day 2 of my pre op diet... It sucks lol I am on 2 weeks... Surgeon says it depends on your BMI... My BMI is like 55, People on lower BMI have 1 week and there are those who dont even have to do a pre op diet just a liquid diet the day before surgery. but yea like someone already said every surgeon is different. Some surgeons allow at least 1 small meal along with the protein shakes a day, Some are strictly just liquid. So if you only have to do 7 days you are lucky in my opinion
  19. It takes a few weeks of continuous use to get addicted to pain killers. Most will only give you enough for 2-3 days. if you can do without, perfect. but everyone handles pain differently. I handle it poorly and i keep pain killers stocked up just incase. I rarely use them but its nice to know they are there if i need it.
  20. everything i read and videos i watched says the best thing to do about the gas is to walk walk and walk as much as possible to get it out
  21. that sucks you feel that way. This seems to be your first post. How about some background. Why did you decide on gastric sleeve? what seems to be the issue? First few weeks are the toughest after a major surgery and it takes time to heal so keep at it and it will get better. Did you end up traveling to have the surgery? did it not go well?
  22. correct. Premier protein, fairlife and as for mixing my own they said to use isopure Isolate protein powder that the isolate absorbs better. Its currently 12:30pm and i am starving lol and this is only day 1 ugh... I need a punching bag to get thru these two weeks lol
  23. So the funny part is we were told specifically not to avoid carbs. That we should not use premier protein or fairlife because those have almost no carbs. After surgery then to avoid sugar and carbs. This picture was part of the pre op class we had to take.
