Pete-TheTimeIsNow got a reaction from lizonaplane in Cheating on your partner after weight loss
I think it's a combination of factors, IMO.
Overweight person has low self esteem, and "settles" for his/her partner. And is more tolerant of the partner's behavior that bother/annoy him/her. Probably thinking: "I am so overweight, I am lucky to have this partner, imperfect as he/she is..." After WLS, their self-esteem goes up, and then comes the thought: "I don't have to put up with this stuff anymore... I'm out of here" And then add, that since they look better physically, they get more attention.. hence more 'opportunities', grass is greener, etc. I looked at the 85% before WLS, and it is a scary number.
But.. if you are happy in your marriage, just keep working on keeping it strong. If you are unhappy in your marriage, then work on fixing whatever issues are there WITH your partner.

I am doing great. I am at my goal weight. Averaging around 185 lbs. I can eat whatever I want at this point but not much of it. No complications so far. Now I contemplating my ideal weight of 175 which I didn’t ever think would be possible.
Life has been crazy busy with my career and home life. I am thankful for all the extra energy that I have now and with the heat wave we are experiencing I am loving not being drenched in sweat all the time. I find myself being cold at times which is not something people in Miami say often. I still enjoy hearing about all of the success my November surgery buddies are having. I think it has been a great experience for most of us. Keep up the good work everyone!

Yay! I'm officially under 250 I can't remember the last time I was under 250! So excited! This also brings my total weightloss to 63lbs. Another number I have never hit! Good start for the first day of school!

I'm at a sort of midway point after the 168 pounds weight loss and still have more to go.
I'm at a point were i'm making my way back into society starting a new job, I feel human again. I can do so much more than i ever use to be able to do. Just to feel the wind on my face and the grass under my feet. Being able to stand on my feet for hours at a time without the need to sit down or feel the burning sensation under my feet. I feel in a sense "normal". Planning vacations and know i'm going to be able to travel and fit in a plane seat that now i dont have limitations it's a good and also a strange feeling. That might sound strange but for me it means everything and i know it's only going to get better and better.
For those who started out as large as i did, how do you feel now or really anyone whos gone through a huge weight loss but still has more to go.
How do you feel in public situations now? Still being over weight there are still people who look and look away. I can handle that now because i honestly don't care i think to myself how far i've come and nobody can take that feeling away from me.

I'm heading the same way @geilli1048 I've already maxed out on my usual calories today and I'm hungry again so I'm going to have to eat more. Yes I agree we need to be extra good at Protein first and everything else will hopefully follow! Lots of people say losing the last 10 - 20lbs is really difficult and can take months. I think we've got this and we're gonna make it to goal!

    Hi all,
Just wanted to thank you wonderful people for your support and wisdom over the last 9 months. I've lost 100lbs as of today.
My weight loss is really slowing down now but I'm so happy with where I am that anything more will just be the icing on the cake.

@Dumbguy Sorry to hear you went through that experience, it is never easy, and it's even worse on the kids. Seems like you are better off without her. And you are focusing on what is important, being a father for your kids when they need you the most. Best of luck!

Thank you and thanks to ForMyOhana - I am an idiot for not thinking of this myself - I *know* that I drink flavoured water much quicker - doing that from tomorrow.
Edited to add - I am on around 1000 - 1100 calories a day now. Maybe a bit more at the weekend when I have a glass of wine.
And I am on 4-6 small meals or Snacks a day now, very variable. I always make up my calories at the end of the day so I'l have cheese or hummus or nut butter if I haven't got to 1000 by bedtime. Protein is no problem because I like to snack on deli meat or meat I cook myself and cut up for my tub in the fridge. I have a meat tub AND a cheese tub, LOL.

Have you tried a Crystal Light or one of the other flavor enhancers? Sometimes I struggle to down plain Water, but I'm able to drink these more easily. I also up the water with the Protein Shakes. I blend the Protein shakes with ice, and that makes another 20oz (and makes the shakes less sweet).
Awesome results all around. How many calories are you all eating at this time? Meals per day? I haven't found my groove yet.

I had a rough couple of months but do not regret it in the slightest. I paid for it myself and consider it worth every penny. Even though I am only beginning my journey, my fitness is way beyond where I thought I could ever be again. My Diabetes has gone, my BP is normal and I do not get up in the night to pee. Life is so good

And it's the end of month 4 for me 🥳
Last month was so much better in terms of weight loss and finding out the kinda schedule that works for consistency.
I clocked in 13 pounds last month and I am down to 161.6 - Still a long way to go, but couldn't have been happier with what I have achieved so far.
I hope everyone else is doing just as good or even better. 🤗

Restriction is still there. Don't have to wait between bites. And not having to super-chew the food either.
My doctor's guidelines call for food weight instead of volume (which, TBH, doesn't make a lot of sense ). They call for 4-5 oz max weight. For example something like 2 oz of Protein, 1 oz of vegetables, and 1 oz of carbs.
I would guess that a volume limit would correlate more with the new limited volume of the sleeve.

Its been 14 weeks since my surgery and I have finally been able to eat chicken. I feel overjoyed and empowered. I wanted to do a lap around my living room. I could cry, its been soul destroying to keep trying it and failing. I made a mild Thai broth for the family with chicken drumsticks and peppers, mushrooms, potato and beansprouts. They had it with noodles. I just had a drumstick and some broth it was heavenly. The old woman is catching up Whoop Whoop

I had two - one at four weeks out, the next at eight weeks out. The "fix" is easy-peasy, and you'll feel better right away.
strictures happen to about 5% of RNY patients. They can also happen in sleeve patients, but they're pretty rare with VSG.
and yes - you can live without food for quite awhile, so it's fine if they can't get you in until next week. On the other hand, you can only live a couple of days without Fluid - so they'd need to get you in ASAP. That's why they asked...

I have finally reached One-derland after 6 months post surgery. I have lost 94 pounds now and am resetting my goal to 190. I am feeling so good and look like I did when I was in my 30s (I am 58). If you are just starting out, stick with it. It is worth all the suffering and dedication.

Not sure I understand what differentiates them from regular chips? The nutrition facts are nearly identical. In fact, Doritos have slightly less carbs, for those that watch that.

A better option might be something like Quest chips, as they have significantly more protein:

Pete-TheTimeIsNow reacted to Hop_Scotch in 3 weeks post op and I want to detox
I assume this will give you a bowel cleanout? These type of teas also dehydrate you as they draw Water to the bowel.
I doubt a 'detox' in this way will stop you feeling sluggish. You are likely feeling sluggish because you aren't getting sufficient fluids and the low calorie base, plus your body is still in recovery mode. Take your Vitamins and other supplements as recommended, drink your fluids and follow food guidelines for types of foods and volumes.
Is meat on post op guidelines for the stage you are at? If not, perhaps you best speak to your nutritionist or surgeon, if so, prepare the meat as instructed and you should be fine. If its a struggle give it a couple of more weeks before attempting again.

Welcome to the club.. :), I am going on my 3rd stall.. I go through 2 weeks stalled, and the next week the weight comes off.. rinse and repeat.
Everybody says that stalls are normal, and you just need to stick to the program, focus on Water and Protein.< /span>
I am going to be changing up my diet to something more similar to what I was doing when I was losing weight steadily. And will be bumping up my daily exercise.

Everybody will lose at different rates, depending on starting BMI, height, gender, muscle mass, etc. Some people lose really fast, and others at a steady lower rate.
Keep following your plan, and make sure you are meeting the daily Water goal. Water is essential to 'process' stored fat.
For reference, I'm approaching month 2, and I am losing a bit over 2 lbs/week.

All going well here thank you!
Today I am OUT of Onederland and I just wanted to let you all know. scale showed 99kg for the first time in a very long time. It feels really good. 🏆
I have lost 31lbs in 11.5 weeks since my op. Pretty much 2lbs a week since my long stall ended.
I only have one issue and it's been the same since day 1 - getting enough fluids in. I rehydrate really well in the morning, but as soon as I start to eat I get pretty hungry and then an hour later want to eat again. If I eat when I feel hungry then I have virtually no time for drinking in between - I have to think about Fluid intake every single day. Small price to pay and I'm sure it'll come with time. I am so happy to have had this surgery.

After surgery the main focus is:
Water, to not get dehydrated Protein, to avoid loss of muscle mass Limited Volume while the sleeve heals, to avoid stretching your stitch line, damaging it, and causing a leak. In my case, I was on 3 days of just water (no protein).. then 4 days of clear protein (no milky shakes).. and then milky Protein Shakes.
Dr. said not to worry about calories, just water and protein goals. I was given a calory budget after 2 or 3 months..
