  1. Mommie....I feel you. I had decided not to tell anyone about my decision to have surgery. My body, my business, my decision. I went through all the information sessions, pre-op testing and insurance drama by myself. Was gonna tell everyone (including hubby) that I had to have a hernia repaired. I debated long and hard, then I prayed about that thing girl. My hubby is and has been my best friend for almsot 20 years, he's been there for me when I wasn't even there fo myself. Could I really keep something this life altering to myself? I decided I would share my decision with him, listen to his opinions (I knew he would be against it) then continue to do what I had already decided to do. So ...I told him, he was very upset and very much against it. He felt it was dangerous and not worth it. He loves me just the way I am and yada yada yada.....I stuck to my guns and made an appt. with my Dr. so he could have his questions answered. Well the Dr. answered all his questions and broke everything down to him like I never could have and he finally got it. Just consider all your options carefully and make the best decision for you and your family. Peace and continued blessings.
  2. Congratulations on making it to onederland Lana!!! I can't wait to join you...I hear it's onederful.
  3. Anywhere and everywhere I choose. I am so looking forward to being able to walk into ANY store(good-bye LB and Avenue) and being able to find MY size. My DH has promised me a shopping spree when I need it, I'm going to save that little treat until I hit my goal weight, then it is on like hot buttered popcorn.
  4. I want us all to be able to use these examples as what we can look forward to doing/being able to do. What we will leave behind. I have had to stand on the side lines for so long, I am ready to join the game. I've been married for 17 years, my oldest daughter is 16,my youngest 9 and we've never taken a family potrait, because I refused. I remember when my youngest was in the 1st grade, I picked her up from school one day and she told me one of her friends said " you're mom is nice but she's fat" My baby said so, my mommy is the most "beautifulest" mommy in the whole world even if she is fat. I was devastated. I never wanted to be an embarrasment to my children and if that is how kids thought of me I could only imagine what "grown folks" were saying.
  5. I can't wait to just be able to "throw" something on. I am always the last to be ready for anything because I have to make sure all the rolls and bulges are covered (like I can really hide them). Photos are also a no go for me and when I slip up and get caught in one, I find it so hard to believe that "she" is me.
  6. Dancing is a big one for me. In my prime (watch out now), I would go to clubs and dance til the sun came up. The bigger I got the more self-concious I became and I no longer wanted to go dancing. My husband is Mr. Dance fever himself and I've hated that because of me he doesn't get to dance like we used to. I am so looking forward to being back out on that dance floor with my hubby and showing my 16 yr old, that mommy can still drop it like it's hot:biggrin: How about you?
  7. Frankie Beverly & Maze....."Before I let go". Ladies that right there is THE Jam.
  8. Greenboro, NC. Big difference fron Long Island, but we love it.
  9. I am a 38 yr old christian woman, married with 2 children, recently relocated from NYC to NC. I was banded back in march of 2004 and have recently had my first fill and look forward to my journey back to good health. I would love to have someone to keep in daily contact with. Especially for those times when the scale is not moving and frustration has set in. I know motivation is the key to success, so let's motivate each other.
  10. My story "I was banded all the way back in March of 2004, lost a grand total of 25 pounds and "lost the follow up". We moved from NY to NC and to be honest I was so busy taking care of everything and everybody else, I forgot about ME. .....So here I am 4 years later determined to be the best me I can be. I finally obtained all of my medical records and found a Dr. in my area. I had my first fill 5/1/08 (prior to this I had no restriction and could eat just about anybody under the table). Since then I have lost 17 and am so grateful. I truly believed that perhaps the Lap band just didn't work for me." Has any one else rejoined the world of lapbanders and maintained continued success?
  11. Angela I "flunked out" for 4 (yes, 4) years. My surgery was 3/17/04. I also moved and life got in the way. My new Dr. says the past is just that the past and now it's time to begin again. I had my first fill 5/1/08 (4 years and 2 months later) to date I have lost 18lbs. I feel like I have a new lease on life. Don't give up. If I can do it I know you can too.
  12. I am 38 Married for 17 years with 2 beautiful daughters (16 &9) I live in Greensboro, NC (transplanted form Strong Island, NY) I am a social worker ....and I too am an intovert. I often question if I would be had I not battled with my weight since childhood. "I was banded all the way back in March of 2004, lost a grand total of 25 pounds and "lost the follow up". We moved from NY to NC and to be honest I was so busy taking care of everything and everybody else, I forgot about ME. .....So here I am 4 years later determined to be the best me I can be.
