Yes. She did. They felt this was a “cosmetic thing” and it’s certainly not. I’m overweight and I’m sick of it and anyone who’s been overweight knows the physical and mental toll it takes on the body. I haven’t changed my mind. I was just a little down by the responses I was getting and then I have to remember that I made the choice to share my life changing decisions with those around me. Biiiiiig mistake🤦🏾‍♀️😏

You’re right. I do need to trust myself. I’ve done the research, asked questions and even made sure to get a physical before the surgery AND I am traveling with a family member. I got so discouraged after speaking with her and I can’t help but think and feel that this was her intention because of how she feels about the surgery. She asked if I was doing this for cosmetic reasons. Really? 🤦🏾‍♀️
I’m tired of gaining and loosing and then gaining again. I just want a new lease on life. I want to feel good and look good. I’m going through with it regardless. I do have a lot of support but I have some people who are worried and have all these bad ideas that something is going to happen to me.

You have offered great advice on many thread threads so I hope you dont think I was referring to you, but there have been quite a few people that have come off as being self righteous. in the original post he /she said they werent good at tracking what they are eating, yes doing that would be helpful but some people arent cut out that way. some commenters also worded it in such a way that if you didn't track there is no way you would succeed and you are a lesser person because of that. Which isn't helpful either.

wow, its just not in some peoples nature to track, journal or keep a diary and for those of you who this comes easily good for you but there is no need to be little those that don't. Maybe people should be looking at these surgical teams that approve the non trackers/ meal preppers/ planners and ask the question why were they approved if it is such a crucial part of the "journey". some of us encountered sleeve and leave surgeons with no support and it is bullshit. the OP is right some of you people need to get down off your high horses and stop looking down your noses at people who's road they travel on for this "journey" is different to yours

My heart racing is not unusual for me in the throes of panic and Im getting all necessary liquids and then some. I do have a minor heart condition AND vasovagal that exacerbate this and I took a heart pill but it didnt help...probably because the culprit was anxiety. Its such a vicious circle. My anxiety was under better control pre-op than it had been my entire life.

Thanks for the honesty. But you know you really didn't gain 3 lbs, right? It's Water weight and carb weight and your body reacting to a whole lot of grazing. But you couldn't possibly have gained 3 whole pounds in 1 day. So it'll settle back down but I'm glad you're focusing for the future.

OK, trying to be honest AND hold myself accountable... First Thanksgiving post WLS- I feel like a WLS Pilgrim!
So I started the weekend with a 52lb loss since surgery ... YAY! And then.... yeah... then... I gave myself "permission" to indulge - OOOOPS - That was a slippery slope. Now it's Saturday morning and thankfully (it works for me..), I'm a slave to the scale. Up 3.3 lbs in just two days of indulging. I kept telling myself that I wasn't eating and drinking too much (because lets be real.. we CAN'T eat much at one sitting - but we can damn sure graze..) so I ignored the obvious - I WAS EATING AND DRINKING TOO MUCH.
    Some harsh realities morning:
    1. I'm just NOT good at moderation (hence the reason I NEEDED this surgery).
    2. I need to learn to give myself "permission" to succeed rather than to FAIL.
    3. Holidays will always be food focused at my house (I'm the cook), but I need to find better options for me.
    4. Once the meal is over, the food needs to be put away to avoid grazing (but damn was that ham and cheese slider yummy!)...
    5. Alcohol - I've just got to say "NO" - Socializing with family on holidays all day around my house generally involves lots of wine and laughter - I need to find a better substitute than Gatorade Zero because somehow it just isn't the same (suggestions welcome!).

All in all - I wouldn't trade the time with family for anything. I enjoyed cooking, drinking, laughing, and eating BUT I need to find a way to do that AND keep on track during this journey. Beating myself up a little, but unlike previous WL attempts, I'm determined to make this a success and I'm back to basics now.

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday!

If it were 70 degrees in my house I'd be freezing! I keep mine at 77. I definitely have lost my insulation! I have to wear extra clothing at work or I'd freeze. I'm 3 yrs post op so I don't expect itl to get better.

I cut my toenails for the first time since surgery today (don't judge! I usually get pedicures!). It was shockingly easy to contort myself to be able to do it without 60 lbs of stomach in the way!

I eat lots of cheese, cold cuts, etc. Lots of high Protein foods that don't require cooking. Mexican food is great without rice, chips, and tortillas. Think fajitas or something like that. I order burgers without Buns, with slaw for a side. Walmart rotisserie chickens are great. Any take out minus the carbs will work. Keep whatever fresh vegetables you like in the refrigerator also. I eat cucumbers for a snack quite often. If you like sardines, they are great protein. tuna as well.
    Keep up the good work!

I assume you do some cooking?
If you roast chicken then divide it into 4 oz portions you will have a lot of options. I found G Hughes sugar free sauces - many different flavors including bbq, Polynesian, teriyaki, honey mustard - shred the chicken and add 2 tablespoons of a sauce. Microwave some green Beans or broccoli or cauliflower with it or grab an apple or strawberries.
I also use balsamic dressing Italian dressing, or Catalina dressing on chicken with a cheese stick and a few cherub grape tomatoes. The same can be done with a piece of steak or ground meat.
Tomato sauce and cheese on chicken or ground meat also works well.

What about the fresh ready meal companies if you have access to them? Most have menu plans for various eating plans but you still will have to be vigilant on the nutritional & caloric content of each meal & Portion Control. One of the ready meals may last you for two meals at the moment. Like many frozen meals & supermarket ready meals, many of the fresh ready meals are Pasta or rice based so remember to avoid those.
When you say you don’t cook, will you cook/reheat/microwave/prep simple things? You don’t have to be a cordon Bleu chef to toss a salad together (throw in some tinned Beans for a Protein boost) or microwave some fresh or frozen vegetables then add meat from a grocery store bbq chicken or roast meat, or some deli meats, smoked salmon, tinned salmon or tuna, etc. I ate rolled oats made on milk with some seeds (oats are a good carb which many plans allow from early stages) - couple of mins in the microwave & ready. Find a good high protein yoghurt & a low fat cheese. eggs are also easy & barely cooking: boiled or fried in a non stick pan. Would you try some frozen oven bake fish in the oven? (Just scrape off the batter & crumbs once cooked.)

Thank you, but I specifically said I do not cook, so recipes are not helpful for me. I did find an earlier post of some options for people who don't cook. I know I would be more successful it I enjoyed pouring over recipes and making stuff, but I just won't do that.

Hey folks, My surgery was on September 1, and I've lost 58 lbs including the 15 I lost on pre-op diet. But I am really running out of anything to eat to keep up my interest in food and my Protein grams. I'm so tired of never having anything good to eat, I'm afraid I will just snap soon. I'm not a recipe collector and I hate to cook. Other than Protein Bars and shakes which I am so getting tired of, what are or were you eating in your forth month? I've been limited to 600 calories, because I only get about 30 minutes of exercise a day. I need some ideas. other than laughing cow cheese and the usual meats. I'm dreaming of Arby's beef and cheddar and pizza! Thanks

I was just there in August. Sometimes I even doubted if I was doing the right thing. It has been a crazy ride, but I have already lost so much weight, just two months after surgery, and I am fitting into clothes I haven't fit into for years. We are all here for you, that's the purpose of this forum. Your anxiety is valid. Make sure you keep your goals ever present. Remember that there are people here that have gone through similar anxieties, and we are here to support you through it all. A month goes by quicker than you think. One thing I did, (because I got the advice of someone who did this surgery), is I got my chewable Multivitamins and my calcium chews. Those are not things you are going to be thinking about after surgery. The other thing that shocked me was how little amounts of food really filled me up after surgery. Be patient with yourself. You will be a new you. You are doing this to be healthier. Keep all that positivity front of mind, and if you need to vent, come to this forum. We are here.

One month will seem like a crazy long time as it quickly zooms by. Time is funny that way.
Make a list. You will likely be surprised how underwhelming your list is. It seems like a lot in our minds but manageable when written down.
Tests and appointments: Each of these are 1) Schedule it; and 2) Do it. Once you schedule it take it off your list and put it on your calendar. The calendar is in control now. Nothing to do but wait.
    The list get's shorter quickly.
Supplements: Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good. Good will work. Heck, not so good will work. Just eeny, meeny, miny, moe a choice. It's not like you are committed to your choice for life. You can do ridiculous amounts of research when you have time post-op because of all the not eating you will be doing. Cross this off your pre-op list and move on.
Write down your questions so you don't forget them. Research when you can't do anything else. Presumably questions related to "Should I do this?" have been answered, so the questions you have left aren't do or die. You will have plenty of down time that you can fill with research.
Lists are good if you tend to get overwhelmed.
    Good luck,
    Tek
