I popped!
I do experience the occasional slight burning near the port site still. I was banded on 07/02... I have had 2 fills and Doc said my port is fine... I've never heard anything pop though... You might want to put a quick call into your doc though, just to be on the safe side...

3 quick questions....
Great New Pic of you Leslie! Haircut looks cute!

Does anyone cheat after fills?
My Surgeon told me that I don't need to be on any liquids after a fill and that I can resume my normal diet that same evening... So, that's not really cheating for me since my doc ok'd it...

Post-op eating guidelines question
I think your Doc knows what he/she is doing. Trust in that and you will be fine. I do find it a bit odd that you seem to skip mushies, but hey... I leave it up the experts!!! Just follow what your doc tells you and you will be just fine!!!

Better fills with or without Fluoroscopy
My doctor only does Fluro... He said there is less room for error that way plus he can look at the band and make sure everyhting is good. I don't think now I woud be comfortable doing it any other way.

can anybody answer my questions please
Every doc is different. My doc told me no food for 4 hours before the fill, but he told me to resume my regular diet that eveing. He said he doesn't require any dietary restriction after a fill... but everybody does it differently...

Getting Banded Tommorow...8/28
Lots of gas x strips!!! those are a life saver after the procedure.

desperate please help
Choopie, You're not alone. I was banded on 07/02, and just had my first fill 08/14 and have zero restriction. I can eat WAY more than I should and having the will power only gets me so far. Hey, if we all had SO much will power, we wouldn't need the band... I am going on Thursday this week for my second fill and I am praying for some restriction. I have lost a total of 12 pounds, but that was 2 weeks pre op and one week post off... I haven't lost anything the past few weeks and it sucks. Well, I also twisted my knee two weeks ago and haven't been able to even take a walk outside let alone swim or bike... I wold request another fill ASAP if I were you!!

Presurgery...feeling sooo self conscious
Hey Chickie! Don't even worry about it. The only reason that you are focusing on this is because your battle with weight is now at the forefront of your mind. I know ,it's easier said than done. I was just banded in July and haven't lost much weight yet (i've only had one fill and have zero restriction)... I went out with 2 of my skinny friends on Saturday and felt like a total cow... It never happened before, but now things like that seem to bother me, so what you're feeling is totally normal. Just hang in there and before we BOTH know it, we'll be the skinny girls!!! Chi Town Susie Girl!!!

A test for smoking????
I smoked a cig two days before my surgery and I was fine... but, then again I am not a chain smoker ... I'm more casual, social smoker!!! Don't know if that helps or not...

Newbie from Northern, NJ
Hi Susie! My name is Susie as well and welcome to LBT! I was banded 07/03 and the gas was there for about 4 weeks. My advice is to keep PLENTY of the gas-x stips on hand! I would stock up and take a few boxes with you. Those really did save my life especially the first few weeks!! Good luck to you and have a nice vacation!

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!
Not that this is any defense, but a normal human body, one without any WLS would have a hard time digesting 38 pills a day... that's just crazy!!! Still, it is very gross... and yes, it does make me love my band even more. I couldn't imagine having to go through that daily regemine of that many pills... oye vey!

New Format!!!!!!!
I don't care for the new format. I hope they go back to the old one!

Unknown Fill Amount
I guess they don't want us being fixated on a number...
-
Unknown Fill Amount
My doctor would not tell me either. He said that we don't need to focus on that the number didn't really matter. Not sure why it's such a big deal... ????

I can barely eat 1/4 cup of food!
I had my first fill yesterday and I most def have restriciton, but not to that degree. I just now have to eat very slow and chew, chew, chew... It sounds like they may have over filled you. Did you have it done fluro or just regular... ???

Anyone else vomit during the swallow test after surgery?
didn't they give you any anti-nausea medicine? They gave me a shot as soon as I woke up... I've never gotten sick from anesthesia (sp?) but I guess they wanted to be safe... What did your doc say?

New to the Forum. How is everybody doing?
Welcome Big Mike! Or, maybe now we will be calling you 'Not so Big Mike' ... This is an extremely personal choice for everyone and I think that you said a few key words in your post that struck a cord with me. You said that you've struggled your whole life with your weight and you have tried every diet under the sun. I too have tried diets and I can loose weight as well, but it ALWAYS seems to creep back up. Two weeks before I was badned was the heavist I've been EVER. I did loose 12 pounds on the pre-op diet. That was my deciding factor. Getting this weight under control once and for all!! I need to be healthy for ME, my fiancee and for my family. I want to be sure I'm around for a long, long time to come!!! :tongue_smilie: I'm not even a mommy yet, which is another reason I chose the band... I see that you posted your age, and your 21 years old. I am 33 now and let me tell you, I wish I would have done this 10 years ago instead of the yo-yo, up and down, out of control spiral that my weight has been... I'm only sorry that I didn't do it sooner. I am down 20 pounds now and I go for my first adjustment this afternoon at 4pm and I'm SO excited!!! Good luck to you Mike in your journey and please, keep posting and reading on our forum!!! You can retain so much wonderful information. Best of luck to you! Chi-Town Susie Girl...

How long after I eat can I get a fill?
My doc told me don't eat 4 hours before the fill but, your doc may have different rules.
-
How does a fill feel?
I go tomorrow for first fill and I am also nervous. Thank you for all of your input and stories, it does help. When my doc does an adjustment, he makes you drink barium and puts you under some sort of xray machine... I would think that method would bring the chance of a second or third stick with the needle... I sure hope so because I'm not a needle person...

I'm SO hungry!!
If I can make a suggestion to you... Call your doc and let him know what's going on. I was feeling the SAME way you but when I went for my one week post op appointment, I told my surgeon and he told me that if I were feeling that bad, I could start pureed foods a week early!!! I felt 100 times better and you will too, just call your doc first and get the 'all clear' ... :Banane37: Hang in there!!!
