I was approved on 7/21 and I am now waiting for my date for surgery. The doc's office will not schedule me until they have the letter from UHC:frown: So more waiting but at least I am approved.:frown:

I have UHC and my BMI was 43 with no co-morbids. I did not have to do a six month diet. I was approved in about 10 days after submitting a 5 year history.

Those of us that are on the pre-op diet, can you give me an idea of how your eating has been going. Mine is below. Morning- Atkins Cafe Carmel shake and 1 Liter of Water Lunch- 1 Sauage Link and 1 Cup of Grapes Afternoon- 1 Atkins Shake and 1 Liter of Water Dinner- Lean chicken or beef, veggie or salad Dessert- SF popsicle I kind of feel like I am eating too much. Any thoughts?

I am the first to tell people if you need to get therapy, please go. I got over that hump a long time ago. I saw one last years to help me through some things and I found it very helpful. I had been thinking that I would start to see her again now and after the surgery to help make sure that I do not mess this up. The therapist I see is a very strong, intelligent sista and I was very happy with her approach.

I did find out that the date of 7/30 is just the date the doc's office will give the insurance company so for now we are waiting for the doc's office to get their copy of the letter or if I get mine first I can fax it in so I can get the actual date. I already started my pre-op diet so I am ready.

I have UHC Choice and I was approved in about two weeks. I used records from my PCP and also my OB GYN. I had two years with no history except my OB GYN so I also wrote a letter to detail what plans I attempted. They also used the information from my intake forms and history.

I am telling anyone but my husbad. I just do not want to have to hear the replies I know I will get. My mom does not want me to do it and told me last year that I was crazy to consider it. My mom is RN and she kept telling me all the risks that she knew of. My brother and dad do not thing I need it. But these are all folks who are smaller and have been for years. This is out of character for me not to tell anyone but it is such a personal journey I do not want to moved from my choice.

They have given me the auth # but the doc's office will not schedule the pre-op until they get the letter. I still am confused on how the insurance comapany can pick the date?:biggrin:

Mine was approved in 10 days. Submitted on 7/11 and appoved 7/21with UHC Choice.:biggrin:

This is a really good thread! I am going to try to put together some things to shift my focus to before my surgery. I am an emotional eater also and I have been trying to think about better ways to handle this besides eating when I am stressed.

April!! LMAO!! It did got pretty quick. They submitted my info on 7/11 and I got approved today, so I could not ask for a better outcome.:biggrin:

So I got my approval from UHC today. :scared2::biggrin::smile: I called to see if they had my file and she said it had been approved. I was shocked because every day last week they told me they did not have it. But that was the good news. My doc's office had a tenative date of 8/1 but the insurance company gave a date of 7/30 for the surgery.:w00t: How can they do that? I now have to try to scramble to get pre-op workup done before then. I also have to wait until either me or the doc's office get the approval letter to schedule Pre-op visits as they will not schedule me until they have an approval. I wanted this and it went quick but now I am getting a bit nerved up about having to rush around. Any thoughts on how to get the date changed? Thanks!

Thanks! I am so happy but feeling rushed now. I just found out UHC has set a date for 7/30 for the surgery. That gives me almost no time to do pre-op and no time for pre-op tests. :eek:

I just got off the phone with the insurance company and they did approve me today. Now I have to wait until I get the letter and wait to be scheduled. I talked to the doc's office and they will be scheduling me for pre-op as soon as they get the approval letter. But we are shooting for 8/1:eek::eek::frown::crying: Guess I better get started on my pre-op diet.....

So I have been calling the insurance company all damn week and they still keep saying that the do not have my info!:cursing: So I will keep it going this week. I have also lost 8 pounds this week and that was a bonus.:tongue2:

I plan on having a TT and a lift and implants if needed after I lose the weight. So yes I would definitely have them done!:ohmy:
