  1. seriously for small weight losses like that, do NOT get a surgery! The complications from the surgery are not worth the risk. Invest in a Personal trainer and nutritionist!
  2. it is so nice to see everyone pipe up and post after all this time.. I am down to 180 from 247 since surgery and honestly have been here since March of LAST year...nothing moves the scale more than 5 pounds up or down.... I am 5cc and the Dr said that is all I need....I* have become Malnutritioned, lost most of hair, have skin issues, you name it..it has been a long, hard journey to get to this point and quite frankly I am tired of trying any more... I would have loved to be 150 before my 50th birthday but that is only 5 weeks away so I know now that is NOT going to happen...all the walking, starving, and Water in the world won't work that kind of magic! We all know that having this surgery was the easy part, losing the first 50+ pounds was not so hard, but KEEPING it all off or going to goal is a real struggle... Here is to another 18 months of success to us all!
  3. I have been on Miralax now for almost a year....could not imagine life without it...and I have been without for a few2 days it was not pretty! You can get a tea called "smooth move", it has Senna in it! It is good for a quick fix, but my DR says the body can become reliant on it, so in the long term use Miralax! Also drink Water and gallons of it and walk daily for 3 miles!
  4. I have had 2 fills, and 1 UNfill and still nothing is working right..fear there is slippage now! Still No weight loss since March....
  5. I have a boiled egg and 1/2 cup of old fashioned oatmeal for breakfast which is 8 protein, at 10am I have a protein drink with skim milk, that is 25-29 protien, lunch is usually 2 oz grilled chicken or fish and a veggie or fruit for another 16 protein, afternoon snack is generally nuts, yogurt, or cheese for 8 more protein, dinner is a meat and veggie for another 16 protein, nite snack is another protein drink for another 25-29 protein. Each of the protein drinks is 203 calories and the egg, oatmeal, fish, chicken, veggies and fruit do not really add a lot of calories. I eat NO starchy carbs other than the oatmeal, which is a whole grain and not a very heavy starch. It is not hard to follow this...you just have to track it well and know what you are eating and how much. I find it easy to track using the food tracker at Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople! I also can track my exercise there as well...and join in on lapband forums to help with ?? that come up! Check it out!
  6. I can not believe they charged your insurance that...if you had paid cash this whole thing would have cost you less than $30K! I think your Dr/Hosp is gauging the insurance company and she be investigate for Insurance fraud! My total everything including the $240 I had to pay has been less than $50K
  7. I was banded on Sept 4, 2009. To date I have lost 62 pounds and have had NO fill yet! My Dr is not a "fill happy" guy and as long as you are losing 2 pounds a week (or the equivelant there of) he will NOT give you a fill. I still eat less than 900 calories a day, and have 2 protein drinks a day. I get about 80-100 protein grams a day. I do feel restriction and can not eat more 3-4 ounces at any given meal! How is all the other Sept bandsters doing? Anyone else NOT have a fill yet? I feel like a freak of Banded nature here!

I am thinking it is a combo of the surgery and sudden weight loss of 55+ pounds in less than 4 months... I had this hair loss when I had an emergency C sect 22 years ago! I have no fill yet, so will try to add some folic acid and fish oil to my Vitamin intake! Thanks for the info!
  9. jaciqltz replied to jaciqltz's topic in The Gals' Room
any ideas on how to STOP the loss?

like all my other issues are not bad enough, I have also been having heavy hair loss the last 3 weeks...I mean a hair LOSS that is starting to be very noticable. I am nearly 4 months out from surgery and was wondering if this was normal? I try to get between 80-100 grams Protein each day, adn thought this was about adequate, I also take 2 multi Vitamins a day!
  11. glad I noticed my ticker was wrong...
  12. Ok it started about 3 weeks ago. Thought it might be a yeast infection, but did not really have the same FEEL or symptoms. Just a whole lot of itching in the entire pubic region and inner thighs... But I did a monistat 1 anyway...not much change in symptoms. So I bought some extra strength Vagisil...HOLY CARP...I used it last night and spend the whole night in the bathroom with a cold wash rag trying to sooth things, and fighting the urge to scratch my self silly....it was like someone poured acid on me and I could not get it to stop burning, and itching, and swelling... today is not much better, swelling has gone down, but not sure for how long or why! I am afraid my sugars may be the trigger to the itch, but now it appears I must have an allergic reaction to what was in the vagisil....my inner thighs look burned, and the itch is now like a NERVE pain, no matter how hard or how long you scratch, the itch never stops... I also now feel a pressure in my groin, almost like menstral cramps., but I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago, so no menses here! I am at a loss as to what to do and have no DR available until Tues. the earliest! Not sure if this is something the band is causing, but I am only 3 3/4 months out from surgery, so have NOT ruled out the strong diet change!
  13. I have the same issue..I used to be a regular 8:45am girl..then came the lapband...if I do not drink "smooth move" tea every day, and take 6 spoons of benefiber in my shakes, I NEVER have a BM my own any more! It really sucks too.....
  14. If this is on your holiday wish list..check out the deal that Overstock.com has! I ordered mine last night after 3 days of searching online for a better deal..there is NOT one! http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movies-Mu sic-Games/Nintendo-Wii-Mega-Holiday-Bu ndle-Wii-Fit-Plus-Yoga-Mat-and-Much-Mo re/4319965/product.html# if that does not work, they item # is 12296400!:wink2:
  15. I was banded on 9-4-09! Went for my first fill yesterday and was told NO...I am losing great on my own..I have restriction though...I can barely do 3oz at a time. Have found that pork chops, ribs, and beef are NOT my friend..SO, fish, chicken, turkey and ham it is...going to try shrimp this weekend!
  16. I was banded on Sept 4th, and the last two days have had issues with being very sore and not being able to bend over, sit for too long or lie on my stomach. Today I noticed that about 2-3" above my largest incision(above the navel) it is like there is a lump/knot in there! I have not had a fill yet, supposed to be this WED coming up..but I can not eat more than 3 oz at a time anyway.. My labs last week showed things are going great, I am down 43 pounds now and dropping meds like crazy... So I am pleased with things... Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the lump?
  17. Not exactly true!...you just have to know how to cook it. This is all I use. Fresh is best, but sometimes the IQF (instantly quick frozen) is good and on sale! The key is marinade, use a fork to pierce the chicken breast thoroughly all over, place in an airtight container or ziploc bag and I use a McCormicks marinade. I omit the oil and just use Water and lemon juice to help the chicken absorb the seasonings. Then you must slow cook...350 for about 45 minutes ( I cook 4 of them for an hour)..or grill it. I even use the FOreman grill with great success...and the rotisierre. NO dry chicken here!
  18. I highly recommend this book for help on the eating issues. There are guides for what you should eat and when after surgery as well as recipes. Very helpful in understanding things as well. Amazon.com: Before & After, Revised Edition: Living and Eating Well After Weight-Loss Surgery (9780061242854): Susan Maria Leach: books I was banded on 9-4-09 and still can not eat more than 3 oz at any time. I am to get my first fill on 10-21, but not sure I want one!
  19. I made the decision to AVOID all bad carbs. It is not healthy for my diabetes anyway. For those who are confused BAD carbs are basically anything WHITE...potatoes, white breads, white flours, rice, pasta, bananas and sugars! Good carbs are from veggies, beans, and fruits. But you still have to watch them. Who knew that 4 brussell sprouts has nearly 11 carbs? The same as 1/4 a sweet potato..go figure!
  20. WALK....walk...walk...you need a while to HEAL still
  21. THanks Jacqui! I am doing 30 minutes and go from 2.5-3mph and from 1%-2% incline...seems to work pretty good for now!:tongue2:
  22. Now that I am starting to walk every day, I am also losing daylight and good weather. SO, in comes the $1,000 treadmill...sigh... I can get it on and walk, but how do I know how fast, how much of incline, etc.... what other exercises can I do if I am only 3 weeks post op? Thanks in advance!
  23. AWESOME! I can only hope to achieve that goal! and in such a short time!:scared2:
  24. THanks for all of the words of encouragement...it is frustrating to NOT lose weight when you are NOT eating... I am getting all of my vitamins and proteins, with about 10 grams of fat and 800 calories! I just want to see the scale move down..not UP...
  25. I am not Eating anything yet. Was to start pureed food today, but not feeling up to it..especially after getting on the scale this morning! I am doing 3 protein shakes a day, with sugar free jello and no sugar added popsicles for snacks. BORING, and depressing!
