It's not obvious to me. Almost three months post-op, and my fairly robust social life hasn't been affected at all, except that many people have commented that I look terrific.

I'm several years out, but starting at probably a year out, or maybe just a few months, I could eat enough that no one could tell I'd had weight loss surgery. Even now, at a restaurant I'll typically eat an appetizer - or else order an entree and eat about half of it, and take the other half home. Honestly, that's pretty much how several of my never-been-obese women friends eat. I'd probably be considered a "light eater", but again, it's not obvious at all that I've had surgery.
and yes - I eat what my family eats, just smaller portions, and I focus on Protein.

well I started this journey with spinal stenosis, at 341 pounds, my back hurt so much, i thought i was going to have to retire, i could only walk about one hundred yards, then i hurt so bad, i would need to sit down, my feet were swelling, i was taking all kinds of medicine,

now, I only take flowmax, older male guy drugs, and that's it, My arthritis is almost gone, I can walk two miles no problem, blood pressure good, feet don't hurt.
now I'm down to 255, my weight loss has slowed, but now wearing XL shirts not 3 and 4 Xl, pants size 48 to size 40. if My skin was removed, I would be a 38 waist

here is me now, I am full of life again

Def go see your doctor but I was a MESS for two weeks post surgery. I was so dizzy and weak and i was still hungry and just all around miserable. One thing that helped me was get some broth that has some fat it in. I am veg so my sister made seafood broth with coconut milk, but chicken or beef broth would likely work. I immediately started feeling more like myself. After about 3 weeks I was much improved. I'm sorry you are feeling so rotten. It's a big shock to the system.

Do you have physical limitations that prevent you from exercise? If not, why aren't you exercising? Have you tried curtailing the calories back from almost 1100? I am almost 7 months out and I eat usually less than that.
IMO, Weight Watchers is at best, a terrible diet for obese people, and at worst, a diet designed specifically to keep people "on the plan" and not to lose the weight they need to. Why? They are a for-profit company - that's why! I personally would only reserve it for maintenance but wouldn't follow the daily carb allowance. It allows you too many carbs, truly. The effective tool for rapid weight loss is ketosis, and you'll never achieve that on WW. Expect a loss in the wallet, but not much on the scale. If it worked so well for all of us then why did we end up getting surgery? If I were you I wouldn't give up on your nutritionist's plan yet. Go back to your surgery center and explain your issues.

I’m headed back into the office for the first time in 18 months and I am 60 pounds lighter. Not sure why I am so nervous but I guess I’m not sure what to say about my weight loss. No one at the office knows I had WLS. And you can’t really tell over zoom. Thoughts?

Banza makes a frozen pizza with a chickpea crust too! I had it tonight (ok I had 1/4 of it) and it was amazingly good. I got it at target. My husband tried it and agreed that if I hadn’t told him it was chickpea crust he’d have no idea.

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of my sleeve surgery. I am so glad I did this, and wish I'd done it years ago! It hasn't been without struggles, and I had hiatal hernia surgery in June 2021 because my sleeve had "slipped" up into my chest cavity. Still... all is good, I am SO MUCH BETTER since having the hernia repair, and I have kept all my weight off. I am just happy, and want to say to those with doubts... YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Lisa G reacted to vikingbeast in SV... but not the kind you think
We have a huge thread about NSVs (non-scale victories) but I wanted to share a scale-related one.
As I posted in another thread, I had to go to the emergency room. Once I was in intake and triage, of course the first thing they said was "hop up on the scale please."
And for the first time in my adult life, I didn't dread it. I didn't dread a nasty "guess what we found those 8 pounds you lost and they brought their cousins" number. I didn't even empty my pockets.
    It felt so liberating.

I had surgery on 8/31 and start work again on Monday. I really didn’t think I would need 4 weeks but I have to say starting at week 2 I have low energy and need to nap a bit. I am hopeful now that my diet is more varied and I can get Protein from a variety of sources that I will perk up. But as far as pain and recovery I think you can go back in a week.

I am right there with you. I have no problem with walking but I have been cleared to use elliptical at gym and after 15 minutes I’m done. And don’t get me started about climbing stairs. I see a few more naps in my future.

I was STARVING the week following surgery. Then poof it went away. Once I thought of it as phantom hunger I was able to feel better (as in your brain hasn’t registered that most of your stomach is gone). Good luck.

Congratulations!! I had mine August 16. 2021. I had the sleeve. Was only in hospital 25 hours, I am 69 years young. Full liquids out of hospital, today I ate a soft boiled egg. Ate about 3/4 of it. Tolerated well. I too was so nervous, almost backed out. 7 days past surgery. Down 12 pounds. Hard time drinking Protein Drinks, going to look for some clear liquid tomorrow. Good luck to you, I am so glad I did it! Longer life, better quality of life ahead!

Lisa G got a reaction from Maribelle76 in No scale?
has anyone here avoided weighing themselves at home and just rely on doctor's scale? I have found in my pre-op eating plan that not having a working scale was a great benefit - as i didn't feel there was any way to "game" the system. Would love to hear some other thoughts.
