To Tell Or Not To Tell

I got my band in 08' and then everyone at work knew and was supportive. Ive since started a new job and chose not to tell everyone. Just nice not to have eveyone constintaly see what i eat or don't eat. But i had to tell my b/f. He would know something was up by my eating habbits.

    What do you think...advice needed!!!

Well you are going to get doctors with all types of opionions! You might find some that don't support WLS at all and think all weight can be lost the old fashioned way. but if it was that easy we would all be skinny. I'm sure he is coming from what he thinks is a nice place and just trying to prevent you from having surgery. Because well it does come with many risks but still..... i would want a doctor more supportive.

    Twenties NSVs

ok so this NSV isnt' like the usual ones you read about. kinda bitter sweet. Back in Dec i bough a new wardrobe at Torrid, and it wasn't cheap. i was so excited because i was in all the smaller sizes. flash forward to feb none of those fit. had to buy new going out and work clothes. again very excited to buy new clothes in smaller sizes so i spared no expense. Flash forward to now. had to buy more clothes. it's crazy!!! about every 3 months i change a size. don't get me wrong. i am wayyyyy excited. but today i was looking at my pile of new clothes i had bought since dec (some with tags still on them) and i added it up in my head. Hundreds of dollars!!!!! Again not complaining. i am super excited about my weight loss. just be prepared and dont go on a shopping spree the first time you go down a size  Happy to report i'm a size 12, and very very happy with my weight loss.

    Anyone on here single?

Well you dont have to tell them right away. Just say you are trying to get healthy and watch what you eat. So when your loosing weight all they think is that your healthy lifestyle is paying off. Just pick date things that dont center around food. Or you could go to places like starbucks. liquids ahouldn't be a problem. Or go get some ice cream. And if you must eat food, like real food just chew chew chew!!!!! dont eat when your starving... thats when i tend to take bigger bites and not chew as much. then well ... u know... PB Hope this helps
  9. Hey everyone. just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 26 amd in Nursing school as well no children and was banded 8-11-08 down 75 lbs since. i'm loosing on the slow side but very happy with my results. As far as being a college student and the band it can be tricky. You just have to plan you meals ahead. bring a baggy with some almonds, or 1/2 a pb sandwich. i just reccomend you bring food with you. Often when you go out to eat on campus or at a restaurant its such a waste of money. like i might go to Wendy's and get a baked potatoe but just eat 1/2 or less. Now as far as another college favorite ... drinking, i have no problem nor do i feel i get drunk any faster. Also people will start to notice your weightloss at the end of each semster of the class your in. so be ready to to tell them a reason. Not that you really have to tell them anything at all i guess, just be ready for the question. oh and try and bring water with you to school.

Losing weight, still hate my body.

i hear ya. i have given up on ever wearing shorts or sleeveless shirts. and in texas summers can be pretty miserable in jeans. but i would still rather be thinner in my jeans in the summer then what i was before.
  14. zukagirl22

    complications.

wow. i am really sorry for all your troubles. i couldn't even imagine. i hope your doing well.
  15. zukagirl22

    making myself vomit

i am often so tight in the morning all i can eat is yogurt or oeatmean. something mushy. i uaually do eat best at night. but constant burping and vomitting could be a sign that you are too tight. water should always go down. if not you could be at risk for dehydration.

    HELP! Is this normal?

no noting is wrong with you. not all people react the same post op. some people might just have some swelling making it harder for liquids to go down. i have also read from some people on this site that the band itself can be enough restriction for weight loss. i was able to eat solids by the 2nd week. not that i ate them a lot i just had a weak moment and was starving. so don't worry that you aren't recovering just like everyone else.
  18. zukagirl22

    Approved in Virginia

well this is something that shouldn't been taken lightly. it is definitely a life changing experience. once you have restriction you will never eat the same. you can eat mostly everything you did before but just wayyyyy less. that can be tough at times. i love food and that is the hard part for me. sometimes i just wish i could eat all of my hamburger. not just a few bites. pleae dont let this scare you from the surgey because when its all said and done. i would do it again in a heart beat.

    Are sleeves the answer

well i know of some bandsters who then converted to sleeves due to comlications.
  20. good luck to all of you guys!!!! it's great that you will have each other to lean on for support!!!!
  21. zukagirl22

Had 1st fill, and I'm bummed!

i went once every 4 weeks/once a month. and it took me 5 fills and 2 unfills to get to the restriction i am at now. I have about 8cc in my band and am now at my sweet spot. i had the surgery aug of 08 and didn't start to feel real restriction until feb. it can be a very frustrating process but hang in there. it'll be all worth it in the end.

congrats sistergrl25!!!!! i've gotten the "you are just wasting away" cooment. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
  23. zukagirl22

    Fill question

i have mine done under fluro and would never think to have it done without fluro. they can look and see that everything is going ok in there. But i am also lucky enough to have it covered by my insurance.
  24. zukagirl22

    Well hello restriction!

congrats on your sweet spot!!!! it took me a while for me to get to mine. i think maybe like 5 fills and 2 unfills.
  25. Wow i am so so sorry this has happened to you. Hope this part of your lap band experience is over soon.
