  1. @Hiddenroses and @BigDane I hope you Both had your surgeries and are recovering well. i guess I am next. I have been being lazy all day but I gotta get off my butt soon and get my last minute stuff done.
  2. Amazing transformation. I love the bangs too. They suit you well.
  3. You may want to check the manufacturers website later once you are for sure settled on a vitamin to see if they are cheaper than Amazon A lot of them give discounts if you subscribe and it works out cheaper. I ordered mine to arrive a couple of weeks before I needed them and set them to auto ship just so I would always have them even if mail was a little slow or something Definitely remind yourself that them people who have a bad experience with the surgery may be louder but they are certainly not the norm These surgeries are considered relatively safe. The risks are very low. And maybe the risk of a complication of obesity doesn’t have a specific date but there are far more and they are far more likely than the risks of surgery
  4. Ketosis actually makes sense. I have been on low Carb for two weeks and now no carb. Plus I was burning carbs for sure because I have been doing WAY more physical activity than I have done in years trying to get things in order. Finally, yes. I decided to trust my surgeon and I’m going with the SADI. He did ask if I wanted the bypasss if for some reason he gets in there and can’t do the SADI since he obviously can’t wake me up and ask. So I guess I won’t really know 100% until I wake up. I can’t believe after all that mental anguish that i am finally less than 24 hours out. About this time tomorrow I should in recovery or in my room. I am finally mentally prepared for all of this. And I haven’t recorded it because I remember my scale is different than my doctors and I forgot to weigh myself at home when I started the preop diet but I’m pretty sure I have lost 14 or 15 pounds already. Let the Journey begin!!
  5. Thanks for the ideas. Realaxinf today WAS always the original plan. Then I think it was a nervous energy that took over me and I started cleaning non stop (my husband wants to know what happened to HIS wife) ? I technically only HAVE to change the bed and pack my hospital bag today and I think that is all I’m going to do. I will be up at 3:30 to get to hospital so it should be an early night anyways.
  6. Wow. I’m only on daY one of liquids out of two and I do not envy you. Whatever it takes to make the surgery safe though, I guess.
  7. Today is day one of my liquid diet after a two week LSD. I guess I didn’t realize how much I was doing physically until I felt like I hit a brick wall about 6:00pm. Apparently 3 shakes is not enough calories to be spring cleaning all day. For me anyways. I am glad I don’t have much that I have to have to get done tomorrow because I feel like it’s going to be even worse. Anyone else have a hard time with all liquids? I really hope it’s just that and I’m not coming down with something. Surgery day is Wednesday. That would be awful. I just added it up and I had 510 calories with the three shakes and I just had a yogurt which makes it 600. Zero carbs though and I was working pretty hard.
  8. So today is day one of two of liquids for me. It’s 6:00pm and I am noticing a significant drop in energy. I have been going all day and accomplished a lot but I just like hit a wall and dropped. I wanted to pack my hospital bag tonight but I am pooped. It’s mostly done anyways, I will do it first thing tomorrow if I don’t get a second wind.
  9. Usually depends on how much you need to lose to shrink the liver and make the surgery safe. I did the sleeve 3.5 years ago and I was a little smaller and only had to do a week of this same diet. This time for revision I had two weeks plus two days of clear. But you’re right. I was able to have a meal a day. It’s not much though just 3oz lean meat and a cup of veggies. I have seen some people have to do a full month. I am on day 15 of 16 now. It’s goes faster than you would think.
  10. Congratulations on your many non scale victories. You have done so awesome. For the ring look into “jewelers balls” they are like two ball like dots of gold that go inside the ring to keep It upright. Makes it fit smaller while still allowing it to slide over the knuckle.
  11. Just checking in. Day one of liquids. So far so good but I’m just keeping myself busy. I dropped off my trunk load of donations and went to the car wash to vacuum and ran it through the express wash. My husband drives a big truck so he will be picking me up in my car and I didn’t want him to see it like it was. Filled it with gas and picked up my groceries. They had all my shakes so I did exactly what I warn everyone about. I bought a bunch so hopefully I like them post surgery. Now to cool off and drink my “lunch” before my zoom meeting at 2:00. I am allowed broth but I really don’t care for it. Maybe I will have a yogurt. I’m allowed that too. I don’t really love it without a bit of fruit or granola though because it tastes slightly bitter to me. How is everyone else doing on the preop diets and prep. I feel like whenever I check something off my list I think of something else. But all the really important stuff is done.
  12. Yea I’ve heard of lots of people to develop allergies post surgery and dairy is the most common one. Almond milk isn’t bad mixed in things.
  13. Did anyone tell you about the ricotta bake? I practically lived in that, refried beans and mashed potatoes (some plans do not allow mashed potatoes). It’s basically lasagna without the noodles.
  14. @Greekmom4 glad to hear you are doing well and feeling calm. I am the day after you and I start my liquid diet tomorrow as well. I changed my plan a bit to do my grocery order tomorrow so if they don’t have my Shakes I have time to order them. I am supposed to be two nights in hosptial but that’s what they said for my sleeve too but sent me home the next day. I didn’t get any perishable stuff for my purée stage because mine doesn’t start till day 10. I did add it to my Walmart cart though so I can pick it up or send my husband if I’m not up to it. I planned to just chill today and go get a pedicure but I am apparently on an organizing kick because I lost track of time and spent most of the day cleaning and organizing my utility room. Thats okay. I did my nails myself. Left them natural but manicured them so I’m good. . I have a trunk full of donations to drop off on the way to the grocery but that’s about it for tomorrow. Tuesday I just plan to do last minute things like change the bedding and put things out that I may need when I get home so I. don’t have to try to explain where they are if I’m in pain and need help. And if I’m able to get up myself they are within reach so I don’t strain too much. Tuesday night I want to get to bed early if I can since I have to wake up at 3:30 am. For someone who has pretty severe anxiety I’m surprisingly calm too. I Finally feel prepared and that helps me quite a bit to stay chill. I am sure that Tuesday night I will be a little anxious but I think I would be a little odd if I wasn’t.
  15. Perhaps it’s like the chicken and the egg thing. Doesn’t really matter much which came first if they are both still good. ??‍♀️
  16. Wow!! This is so inspirational. Keep doing what you’re doing.
  17. What about a little olive oil for the healthy fats? Seems like my nutritionist mentioned that at one point. That would up your calories without having to eat more in terms of volume at all.
  18. I don’t think anyone here has had a bypass?? I had a sleeve and I’m revising to SADI but my surgeon suggested the SADI for me because the risks of leak are less and the risK of malnutrition issues are less than The traditional switch.
  19. The surgeon and their team do this all the time. If they say you’re okay with your nails then you’re okay. You’ve done all the research and all the prep and it’s time for you to just relax and let them do their part. When you wake up it’s your turn again to walk walk walk and sip sip sip. Best of luck in your travels tomorrow and then your surgery Monday. Give us an update when you are feeling up to it.
  20. Once you speak to the doctor or pre op nurse it gets so real doesn’t it? I am so excited for you.
  21. @AndreaJD Yea. I woke up with an abdominal binder after surgery and I had to go home with meds too after my sleeve. The binder is just a fabric thing that Velcro’s around you. Warning. Once you take it off. You will most likely need someone else to help you get it back on as snug as them had it if your still in pain. I didn’t really want mine back on though. They told me it was just a matter of personal preference whether I wore it. The meds I went home with were a PPI and pain meds of course and it seems like I got an antibiotic too.this time they told me I will also be on something that is supposed to prevent the hall stones that are common with quick weight loss. Omg. The before pictures. I need to have my husband take them too. I am the same way with photos. I see an entirely different person ?. If you can, take pictures like every month or so and look at them side by side. It can be just as hard to see the loss iN the mirror but side by side photos really help to see them. Measurements help too, anything to keep you motivated when the scale doesn’t move for a few days and you’re getting discouraged. Ooh yea. The spirometer. I had one too @Greekmom4 after my sleeve. It’s just a little device you blow into that has a little ball or something to let you know you hard you are blowing that you try to get to a certain place and keep trying to get it higher for anyone who’s never had one.
  22. Wow. Congratulations on your loss and thank you for your thoughtful response. I had a pretty easy recovery with my sleeve too. Same surgeon so fingers crossed that I don’t have the gas pain this time either. I think my return to eating plan is a little longer than yours but thats probably better for me to lose a little more early since my stomach won’t be as small as virgin surgeries. i am so glad to hear that you can eat what you did before. I know we aren’t supposed ti have certain things but sometimes you truly can’t avoid it. I had a nutritionist tell me that if I ate certain things post SADI that I may as well take it to the bathroom with me to eat because that’s where I’m going to need to be. I have already had to explain the surgery to my primary provider. I plan to ask the surfer in before I leave hosptial if he knows anyone familiar with the surgery. Im glad to hear it wasn’t just her though to be honest. Omg That tote idea is so clever. So simple yet somehow I didn’t think of it before. Thanks again and keep us updated with your continued progress.
  23. @Ukalliq any tips or tricks for the post op life with the DS that should be applicable to SADI as well. I am set for surgery Wednesday. I have already had the sleeve surgery but most of the people on the thread are pending virgin SADI surgeries. I am starting to get nervous again. I keep vacillating from excited to nervous and back again.
  24. @Hiddenroses you are getting sooooo close. Hows the preop diet going? Bitten anyone’s head off yet? I’ve lost my temper a couple of times. Ticked off one worker so bad that when I called back to ask another question they must’ve seen me on the caller I’D and kept putting me back on hold for over an hour. Oopsie ? I would’ve tried to explain but I figured unless they were in this boat they really wouldn’t get it anyways. Luckily I was home just purging my pantry from stuff I shouldn’t have around anyways so i just put it on speaker phone and listened to the hold music until they finally picked up. i am not sure if I mentioned that I am having lunch with a friend tomorrow at a steakhouse. I am still allowed one meal a day of lean meat and veggies till Monday. Then it’s all liquids. I called the office to make sure it was okay to do the shake for dinner instead and they said no biggie. I’m sure my friend will order exactly what I would rather have so it’s going to be a bit of torture but I figure I may as well get used to it since choosing the healthier option while others are living their non diet lives is going to be my new normal. I am officially done cleaning out the fridge, freezer and Pantry ridding it if all temptation. I just remembered that I do have some stuff stashed in the cabinet above the microwave though. Mostly nuts and salad toppings and stuff that are okay to have around but may expired before I can actually eat them so I may as well give them away too. I also deep cleaned all the floors since it will be a while before I can do that again and i plan to do all my bedding and the bathrooms on the day before so they are as sanitary as possible when I get home. I think I may actually be ahead of schedule and have the day Sunday to relax. I’ve got a lot of calls to make Monday and Tuesday will be all about last minute stuff before surgery but Sunday I think I will do something fun. A pedicure maybe. I could really use one. Without polish I guess. Did they tell you no polish? They used to always say that but I don’t think she did this time. She said nothing on your body or hair but didn’t say to remove nail polish. Guess I will go with clear just to be safe. Anyways, I hope that you are doing well and that you are organized and relaxing a bit yourself this weekend. Good luck Monday.
  25. @Rosslyn how are you doing. You are about a week out now, right?
