  1. I had a sleeve revised to a SADI or modified switch and I am 13 days post op and haven’t vomited once. Because my stomach wasn’t revised I could physically eat anything I think. I just have to eat the smaller, liquid first And now purée foods so that my intestines have a chance to heal. I think the reason most people vomit is when their stomach is first cut and they have a ton of swelling on too of it being small and they eat too much. That shouldn’t be an issue for you since your stomach is already healed. Unless that hernia repair involves cutting your stomach. Then you could still have the mflammation but your stomach will still be much larger so I think you will be okay. Plus, isn’t it possible that vomiting would be less painful once they fix everything.
  2. Are you talking about a wine?
  3. @draikaina8503 I had a drain with the SADI. Then again it could’ve been because it then gallbladder removal. I just came from my doctors office. I woke up with a cramp in my right calf and didn’t think much of it but it was still bugging me at like 2pm and the more I thought about it it’s kinda weird when I didn’t do anything yesterday. Plus it is only on one side. Good news is She doesn’t think it’s a blood clot. She ordered an ultrasound to be safe I’m just waiting for them to call me. She thinks it low magnesium. The typical bariatric vitamins don’t contain it but with SADI we need it I have the SADI specific vitamins but haven’t started them yet because they are higher iron and I can’t stomach them without being able to eat more food at once. So she called me in an rx for separate magnesium to take until I can take the other rx.
  4. I agree. Was thinking the same thing that it’s a good strategy to avoid eating bad because your out and hungry.
  5. I’m sure this is pretty basic anatomy but I don’t understand much of it so don’t laugh but I think I may be confused. I had the SADI so I know that my post op body malabsorbs a pretty good deal of fat. I also know that we do need a certain amount of fat for our bodies to function properly. Meaning I probably will need to consume like twice as much as my body needs to actually get enough to fuel my body, right? (Maybe not twice as much but for sake of this let’s say twice). Okay so I also had gallbladder removal along with my SADI which wasn’t at all expected but apparently I had gall stones and the organ was already looking bad so with anticipated weight loss destroying it further it would need to come out eventually anyways so he went ahead and did it. Well with gallbladder removal you aren’t supposed to have a lot of fat because your body can’t process it as well. My fear is that if I eat twice as much fat so my body gets the half if that it needs to function that my liver and stuff still have to process all of it and that will be bad for my liver and whatever else. Is that the case? When we eat and the food goes through our intestines and only part of the fat absorbs, do our organs still process ALL of the fat or does it only process the HALF that has been absorbed. I was thinking it has to process it all and really worried about how this is going to work but if it only processes the portion I “absorb” then I’m pretty much like anyone else who has their gallbladder removed I guess. I just have to live on what my body can handle without a gallbladder. What makes sense when I really think about it is whatever is not absorbed doesn’t go through the organs but I am just making sure that I understand.
  6. That’s insane. Good for you!!
  7. Feeling a little adventurous today. Made my purée egg salad with onion. It’s defiantly tasty. And so far so good. I know that there was onion in the fresh salsa I had with my refried beans but I only used a teaspoon full and not all onion so this was a lot more. I never had any issues with my sleeve but enough people talked about issues post Sadi with random foods I am more nervous this time. The thing is when they are talking “issues” I think they are talking about diarrhea so as long as I am home I guess it’s not the end of the world.
  8. I am 12 days out and my incisions are still tender if I touch them. I honestly think it just takes a while. I don’t remember it being this way after my sleeve but maybe it was. Maybe give your surgeon a call and see if a binder is okay. They sell them ion Amazon. I wonder if the fact that you got staples has anything to do with it. I didn’t have staples. I have sutures and steri strips.
  9. I pretty much did the same thing with the showering. I was just around the house in the as and I only had four days between so I showered before i left the hosptial. Mostly in case I had any issues infigired they could address it before I left but also so they could get the binder back on me cause they did it nice and tight and it really helped. Then I showered the night before my appointment. In retrospect I would’ve done thet the morning of because my bandage that was covering the drain hole came off and now I know it was dried blood that got wet in shower and it only looked like it was bleeding but that scared me a lot. I thought that it was gonna get infected for sure. (See- anxiety. ?). Anyways the NP loolee at it and cleaned it then next day just to satisfy my anxiety and I’m still Alive. I wouldn’t worry that you went to the bathroom sooner. That’s actually really good. I thing. I think my system just took a little longer to get started moving again which is why it took me till day 5 to pass gas and why I was still in so much pain and stuck there for two extra nights. I’m guessing some of that had to do with the fact that I was on heavy pain meds.
  10. Just seen a recipe for later on Instagram. Says add PB2 to applesauce and form into balls. Refrigerate that then dip them in melted chocolate for reeces pieces protein balls. I wonder if you can do it with sugar free chocolate.
  11. The good news is that once you’re past the carb withdrawal it gets a little easier. They won’t satisfy mental or emotional “head hunger” but them Shakes actually do physically fill you up. Like others have said. Hang in there. It’s totally worth it. I just came from my family dr today for a follow up. I am 12 days out and I’ve already lost 26 pounds. I had a 16 day preop diet though so it’s really been almost a month. Try to find something to symbolize why you are doing this or something that reminds you to dig deep and keep motivated that you can keep on you. My friend gave me a bracelet with something motivational on the inside and I wore it through the entire process. It reminded me to keep my eyes on the prize. It helped me a few times when my anxiety was getting the best of me.
  12. Has anyone else tried the genepro clear protein powder? I have some and I added jr to pudding and it wasn’t bad but I’m wondering about adding it to hot stuff. Wondering how it heats and how much I can add before it changes the texture.
  13. That milk of magnesia is a miracle worker. I started with the lower dose even and it wasn’t two maybe three hours later and I’m good to go. I’ve not really ever dealt with constipation if you can’t tell. ?
  14. Okay that milk of magnesia works miracles. I thought it was still going to be a strain but it wasn’t bad at all and it worked so fast. Like two hours or three maybe and I started with the lower dose. I am so relieved because my anxiety had me half believing that I had an obstruction. Thank goodness that is over for now. My NP said if I want to cut back from 2 stool Softeners a day I should do 2 then 1 Back and forth for little while before I go to Just one. But she expects based on what I have explained I probably need two until I am able to eat some fiber and more fluids.
  15. If you like any that are low calorie, you can get a favorite soup from a restaurant too and just strain out the good bits. It does leave behind a more flavorful broth. I was supposed to stick to low fat and fat free which limited that and with the gallbladder removal it was pretty important but I know that some plans are a little less restrictive.
  16. Yea meeting those goals does feel like a full time job and just as it gets a little easier you have to add in the vitamins and supplements then once you get that you are up to purées so that’s like 4.5 hours out of the day you can’t be drinking (1.5 hours per meal including the 30 min before and after) which makes the fluid goal a challenge again. I hadthe sleeve years ago and promise it does eventually get to be normal routine and not a big deal. This time I'm working a bit too now that I’m to the purée stage.
  17. Do you work in an office or have a locker?. It’s good habit to bring them with you do you will do it when you don’t have to work too but it couldn’t hurt to bring a few to work and keep there for times that you do forget. Or keep a few in your purse maybe.
  18. Went to my follow up with my family NP and with the nurses guidance I did my B-12 shot!! I was so nervous that my hand was shaking and it took a while to get it all injected but I did it. This was a huge deal for me because I can’t even look when someone else gives me a shot.
  19. Well after two daily stools that were very loose I cut back to one and then the next day was loose too so I thought I would go to every other day but that was a bad call apparently. Now it had been two days and nothing. I just went and a couple little pebbles came out so it’s definitely constipation. Gross as this is I used a glove and got more out but there is still more in there. I just took milk of magnesia but I’m a little worried about how painful this is going to be since I am only 11 days post op and my incisions still hurt quite a bit.
  20. Omg i have gained and lost weight so many times in my life to include a really big chunk with the sleeve 3.5 years ago and I understand completely what you mean. It’s like I am still the SAME EXACT PERSON that I always have been on the inside!! It’s almost like when someone dies and you feel guilty enjoying something without them. I feel like if I fully accept a compliment I am letting my overweight self down somehow because they deserved all the same compliments but never got them. At the same time you feel guilty for not just accepting it because someone is trying to be nice after all. But the male attention differential is almost too much. I realize over and over again just how invisible I am when I am overweight. Surprisingly women are actually this way too if you pay attention. And what’s worse is once you lose a lot of weight and start to look really hot, some Women start to treat you differently again. The women will find you a threat and the men will assume your a beyotch. I guess we have to look good but not too good to deserve respect and consideration in todays society. I have said it over and over again. Life is a fashion show. I honestly don’t think this will change in our lifetimes.
  21. So I went to my post op appt at my family practice dr. I asked about my gallbladder and she agreed that it’s really not that life altering. It’s just going to be a balance with my SADI making me malabsorb fat. I need to consume enough for my body to still function without taking in too much because I don’t have a gall bladder. Next up was my lack of bowel movement. I finally had one day 7 then again the morning of day 8 and 9. All in the morning and all pretty regular except very loose. Then days 10 and 11 so far nothing. Today I feel like I need to go but can’t. She said to increase the stool softeners back to two a day and take milk of magnesia tonight if I still haven’t gone. The nurse showed me how to do my B-12 shot and guess what guys I did it!! She said the needle the pharmacy gave me was bigger than I needed and gave me a smaller one to use and to take with me so I could get more. She showed me how to get it into the needle but had me do the shot itself. I think I want someone to watch me just one more time to make sure I got it but i think I got it. It did it hurt at all. Didn’t even feel it honestly. And once my hands stopped shaking it was really easy to do. I took the needle back to my pharmacy and showed them and they do Jace them and they sell them so I went ahead and got 12 so if it continues to be a monthly thing I’m good for a year. i will add that I am home now and using the mug warmer for my scrambled eggs I am eating them out of a mug because I do not have a flare with a bottom smaller than the 4” for it to sit flush but it’s working. The eggs are not piping hot but they are staying warm. @draikaina8503 i would probably add fat free milk instead of water thinking it would taste a little better. I assume at that stage You just need it to run off the spoon like liquid. Similar to your protein shake.
  22. My paperwork says 64oz goal. Minimum 48oz so there may be a minimum for you?. I would check with your team though your circumstances could be different. The last thing you want is to get dehydrated. It’s really not fun.
  23. To further this protein 2.0 has a drink with electrolytes and 15g protein. They have it at Walmart and Amazon.
  24. I have an anxiety disorder on top of Bipolar and ADHD and I managed it. Just have to pull out ALL of your coping skills. For me that means to do anything and everything in my power to control what I can control and also to be mindful when it’s extra bad which for me is crocheting and of course take meds if all else fails. I also have to be very up front with my team about my anxiety for any medical thing. I explain that I can be reasoned with. I just need a little more patience and I can get through it. But I do have a ton of questions and once I lose faith in someone forget it. I need someone else to tell me the exact same thing so I can believe it. I wish I could remember the name of the comedian that talks about anxiety and said that sometimes she just needs someone in a white coat to tell her she is being stupid. Don’t know about you but that pretty much sums it up for me. ? Honetly, just prepare as much as you can until you reach the point that you have controlled all that you can. Then when you show up the hosptial remember that your team does this every single day and let them take the wheel. You will be fine. ❤️
  25. @Hiddenroses i am taking the chewable calcium from barimellts for now but will be switching back to my bariatric advantage chews because they taste like candy and I’m addicted. , I am doing the bariatric advantage chewable multi with ADEK and low iron for now and I have the SADI specific all in one vitamin from pro care health for later which has the ADEK, a higher iron content, and some other things that we need but I need to be able to consume a little more first. I used to take their regular multi post sleeve with 45mg of iron after a full protein shake but this one has 60mg iron, plus when i’m sipping slowly as I’m supposed to to let my intestines heal it takes almost an hour to get the whole shake down which I feel like at that point half of it is out of my stomach and I don’t want to vomit. (The iron is what makes you vomit without food). At my one month appt I will ask to see if it’s safe for me to drink A little quicker. I Know after my sleeve as my stomach healed I naturally started drinking a little faster by then so I’m guessing I can. i love that you’re creating new recipes and figuring out what works. Just FYI, I was told no strawberries Yet. I guess the seeds can get stuck in the incisions. Actually I was told nothing with skins or seeds. Although it sounds delicious and could be a go to if you don’t feel like cooking or are in a hurry later down the road. Oh yea everyone, for future reference this has some pretty good ideas for adding into cottage cheese. https://www.popsugar.com/food/cottage-cheese-stir-ins-27035442 You know I actually have never even tried cottage cheese which is why I was searching for ideas. I am picking some up tomorrow after my dr appt but I need to come up with ideas that I can add during purée to mix in with it if anyone has any ideas.
