  1. I don't think I can be a mentor at this point, but I can be your buddy. I was banded 10/2008 and have lost about 65lbs to date. I thought I would have been further along at this point, but I must take responsibility for not being as focus as I should. I decided not stress about it, but start working hard. I read on another post that the band will only do 10% of the work the other 90% is up to you. I have only been putting in 25% of work and now I have to get myself straight. I didn't go through surgery not to make my goal. With that being said we can complete this journey together.
  2. I find that I throw up if I don't chew my food well. What I have been trying to do is cut my food in small pcs. that way I don't have as much chewing to do if I put a large amount of food in my mouth.
  3. I started the 30 day challenge on the EA sports active yesterday and OMG it is brutal. I'm moving around the house this morning like a turtle. My least favorite is those darn squats.... HATE IT.. but overall it was a AWESOME work out and I'm determined to complete the 30 days. I've re-comitted myself to ME and I'm trying to eat better with my band and work out .. which I was lacking before. I will keep everybody updated on the 30 day challenge
  4. Don't beat yourself up about what has happened, you can't change the past. Each day give us an opportunity to start fresh. Go back to the doctors and get a fill and start from scratch. You already know you can do it, you proved it by losing the 40lbs. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress.
  5. I ordered the EA Sports Active last week and can't wait for it to arrive. I've been losing slowly and know when I had some work outs to my routine it will help kick start me... I will post as soon as it arrives.
  6. Okay I had my 3rd fill and I gained 2lbs. Now I must accept resonsibility, because I know I have made the worse food choices this past six weeks. I've even been drinking, wine  and mojitos. Forgive me (I'm holding my head down in shame). Now I can two 1 of two things at this point. Feel sorry for myself or be greatful that it was only a 2lb weight gain and get off my butt and do what I know is right. I choose to get off my butt and do what I know is right. I didn't go through all this for nothing I tell you that. The surgery, time off of work, the money I've invested So today is a new day for me and I'm going to start making the right choices. and move forward. My birthday is July 23rd and I will be 43 years old. My current weight is 262,. My goal is to be at 225 by my birthday. That is a weight lost of 37lbs in 3.5 months. That is something that I should be able to do. So here I go... Hope to hear from you ladies soon. Our board was one of the most happening spots and now I hear crickets when I sign on ...
  7. I've also noticed how quiet things have been... I'm sure it will pick up as the weather breaks... Well that is my hope. My work out is stalled a little. I was doing great on my treadmill in the mornings before work, but my ACL started giving me problems. (go figure.) so I stopped for a few, but I'm motivated to get back on and work some more. I think I was running to much so this time I'm going to work at a brisk walk with a good incline. My 3rd fill is comming up and I'm dreading getting on the scale at the docotrs office. I don't see any weight loss, but atleast I'm maintaining.
  8. Hey everybody..Hope everyone is doing well. I was thinking (Yeah I know that could be dangerous at time, so my son tells me :tt2:) what about a recipe exchange tread. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm struggling to stay on task everyday. My meal issues are Breakfast, lunch and Snacks. Breakfast .. I'm finding that I only can pick from cold Cereal in the morning or Protein shakes. I would love a hot breakfast idea for someone on the go. A friend of mines was telling me about a breakfast caserole that she makes for her family, but she is a size 2 :w00t: and it is full of cheese, sausage and other stuff I'm sure won't help me. Lunch .. I'm always in the field, always eating out.. Sometimes I pack a turkey sandwich and sun chips, but again that can get tired quick . Snacks .. I'm killing the 100 calorie snack items:tongue_smilie:... think I'm keeping the stock prices up on those items. Hopefully we will be able to help each other out here. I look forward to any and all responses.
  9. I've been struggling the last couple of weeks myself. When I received my 2nd fill I was comfortable with the restriction, but now it is gone. I was also doing well working out. On the treadmill every morning, with 1/2 to 1 mile daily. But now my ankle is giving me problems (go figure) I think I need to stretch more, but anyway I can only say to take everyday as a new day and not beat yourself up for whatever mistake you may have made yesterday. I'm not following any specific diet, just trying to be more mindful of my food choices. Keep me posted and I will do the same.
  10. My doctor is very strict and stingy with fills. But I understand his point, but of course I still stress my own feelings :tongue2:. I wasn't able to get my first fill until six weeks and than six weeks after that was my second fill. My third feel I have to wait eight weeks and that was with some serious negoting because he wanted me to wait three months for the third fill. My first fill was 3cc, second fill 1.5 cc (again i begged for that, he only wanted to give me 1cc). I've seen some docotors more liberal with fills, but docotor prefer to stretch it out for as long as he can.
  11. I must say that since my 2nd fill I've seen a big difference with my restriction, but would not say that I've found my "sweet spot". I'm currently at 4.5cc and think if I'm able to get an additonal 1cc fill next visit which isn't until April I may be there. The scale is finally starting to move again and I'm more motivated. At first I found it hard to exercise, but not now I'm excited to hit the treadmill and also do my work out tapes. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I went to the mall to purchase a light weight jacket because we had some nice days last week and I was able to fit in a size 20. Which means since October I've dropped from a 26 to a 20. Now if that didn't give me a kick start I don't know what will. I can even get in my 20 jeans. They are tight as heck and I can't move to much, but I can get in them zippen them up and also sit (first time I tried them on I had to stand the entire time .. lol) I'm seeing progress and I can't ask for anymore. I knew when I decided on the band the weight would come off slow, we all knew that, but I think in our hearts of hearts we wanted it to come off fast, which is why we are frustrated, but if we remember that we didn't gain this weight overnight and that out goal is to lose the weight and keep it off we may be able to accept this slow process. Now I just said this because I know it is true, but someone will have to remind me of this statement when I'm at a no weight lost point again. Keep up the good work ladies and let's kep posting. I think we all need to hear the struggles each other are experiencing to see that we are not in this alone and to help keep each other encouraged. Talk to you later my "sistas"
  12. I think 1.5 cc was just enough of a fill (I Hate to admit). If I would have received anymore at that time it may have been too much. I do feel the restriction, I've noticed that I'm staying full longer and getting full much quicker. Yesterday I belive I felt my first experieince of "stuck". Wasn't eating too fast, but think I had one bit to many. Anyway it wouldn't go down and had to come back up, betcha I won't do that again. 4.5 cc is where I am and I go back in 8 weeks and I will see where I am after that. I'm not working out as much as I know I should, but I do try to get in about 2-3 days a week of my firm exercise tapes. I need to increase it to 5 days a week.
  13. Okay I had my 2nd fill today. Things didn't go as planned , not from lack of trying. I was expecting for a fill of 2cc, but didn't get it.. reason being is that I've lost 6.7 lbs since my first fill. Personally I don't think that is alot (six weeks), but the docotr is fine with the loss. He said as long as I'm losing weight things are going as they should. I ended up getting 1.5 ccc, but can't go back for 8 weeks. Now I worked for t his dag on 1.5 cc, because when I got there he was planning on giving me 1cc and my next appointment in three months. Needless to say he realized that wasn't going to work . So I have eight weeks to see if I have any restriction and good weight lost.
  14. I'm glad to hear your surgery went well and that you are starting to feell better. Try and take it easy take advantage of this time off and get some rest. Give yourself time to heal. What flavor Unjury shakes are you drinking? I had them all van, choc and straw. I actually liked the van and choc better. I actually still have some I drink it when I go in for a fill since I'm on liquids for a couple days after. Have you tried the chicken flavor. It isn't too bad if you mix it with chicken broth instead of water. Only problem is that you have to have luke warm broth which is a bother. Do you know what band you received. Was it Lapband or Realize? Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  15. I usually wear my hair in a wrap. I've noticed when I have a fresh perm and wrap my hair I don't have a problem when I work out. I also do flat twist which is wonderful. I ususally keep them in for two weeks and I can work out to my heart desires and the style last. I do get it washed and conditioned every other week, which I belive helps keep it healthy.
