I did not mean to put you on the spot. I've just seen some Christmas pictures over the years where the subject had on what you describe, and nothing else. I did not mean to pry into your privacy. But I could not resist asking.

@@LittleBill Actually, this current picture is in a Santa hat and a [nice] Christmas sweater, but with a red camisole, so the top of my cleavage shows . The older picture, was in a Santa hat and in a red teddy with the straps showing [Happy?? ] But the new picture is still better, I think. Too bad I'm so private, I'd show it!!

    Merry Christmas to everyone.
Last night I took a picture of me in my Santa hat and Christmas sweater (just before I skyped with my long-distance man--who I'll be with for new year's weekend and more!!). What a difference from the one I took 15 years ago when I was almost 100 pounds heavier, trying to look cute. This picture--yes, years older--I loook sooo much better, happier and internally 'jolly'. Thank God for my VSG! Merry Christmas.

Lyrics by LittleBill, with apologies to Burl Ives.
    Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas,
    And skip drinking egg nog
Cause if you do, I'm sure that you,
Will have your weight loss bog.
    Have a Holly Jolly Christmas,
    Eat your Protein dontcha know?
If you eat carbs, and things with lard,
    You're waistline's bound to grow!
Ho, ho, the mistletoe, at least that stuff's fat free!
You can indulge in it, without a calorie!
So have a Holly Jolly Christmas,
    And behave yourself this year.
Stay on your course, it could be worse,
    But better things are near!

Sliding into a pair of skinny jeans and looking great in them will help break that hold. Seriously.

Don't feel guilty! Looks like your sticking to plan 99% of the time! As am I.. I no longer feel guilty if I want something I plan it out work it off and go about my day. I'm down 100 lbs since my first consultation in July, was sleeved in august and have reached my surgeons goal. Still want to reach my goal though .. 20 more lbs to go!

Perfect! No room for guilt. Don't let food rule your brain in such a negative way. YOU are in charge, pie isn't.

Was it yummy? Was it a one (or two) time thing just for the holidays? Can you go take a long walk to work it off?
No biggie! Let go of the guilt. You enjoyed it, your stomach is healed, you took a controlled piece. Much better than you would have done in previous years, right?

No that's perfectly normal I'm only 4 weeks post op and I get about the same. Just focus on your fluids and I wish you the best.

...people try to urge you to eat as much as them, which makes you feel uncomfortable, lol.

...people look at you weirdly when you order only a side of mashed potatoes for dinner at a restaurant.

Who'sThere got a reaction from GBLady41 in Will I ever be able to eat normally?
From what I understand, it will never be your old normal (or shouldn't be because that's what got us in this mess, ????) but we should achieve a new normal. I am in a support group run by my surgery group. We meet once a month, and there's a huge variety of people in there from ones who are just starting to learn to vets of many years. No one there is able to eat like they did before without issue. However, all the post ops are doing well with new habits and eating healthier.
I don't mean to imply that you are asking about eating like you did before. However, there are some people on here that seem to think that is their goal for one day. Imo, those people will not find long term success.
I have a friend I teach with and have lunch with every day (normal bmi, never a bariatric patient) who watches her weoght religiously. She eats like a post bariatric patient except for the quantity. Ever so often she may indulge in a treat or eat off plan (She meal plans for her entire family) but her indulgences are truly treats. That is normal for her. This is the kind of normal we will achieve.
I'm earlier than you. My surgery was Thursday. I can imagine at a few months out, I'll still be struggling to learn the new normal. I do know that the post ops that are a year or so out seem to have met their new normal and are rolling on enjoying life.

Getting your favorite jeans for Christmas. Telling people a size too small so they fit when you actually get them. Then frowning when they fit because you realize in a month they won't anymore

Well, thank you. I do love my kiddos, that's for sure. I think if you build a relationship with them, they are more willing to give you all they've got. I teach 2 consecutive grades at a very small, rural impoverished school. Those kids are MY kids, especially after 2 years. If we couldn't cut up and have fun, I'd be miserable. If that makes me attractive, I'll take it. ???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

I'm scared to death now!! Lol My husband and I do not have nor want kids. At 40 and 48 we are enjoying time with our very spoiled dog.
But the fear is reading stories of women getting pregnant not even a year after.
I'm sorry but I just found my belly button kid and I intend to keep it, pierce it, etc...
