I am sure this is what I experienced on Friday last week, I'm a sleeve patient 10 weeks out. It was simply awful and I just had to sip Water and ride it out. It took about 2-3 hours until I felt somewhat normal again but very washed out.

I never thought I'd post pics of me in undies/bikini! But here goes.
20kgs lost so far. I have none of my full body at my heaviest, I couldn't stand to look at it. The two body pics are after 10kgs lost and after 20kgs lost.
    No regrets at all.

I am always interested in the comments on expected calorie intake. I am of the opinion this is a marathon and not a sprint. I am just over 3 weeks post op and I am changing my weighing to once a month, with even a small loss being a win. My dietician and surgeon both said eating is now for nutrition and not hunger. They have given me guidelines that I stick with. If in doubt, have another check in with your dietician to get advice and let them know your concerns.

My sugery was 4 January, and I comfortably started coffee 2 weeks later. Now I am back to a max of 4 cups a day.

Does anyone here regret having had gastric bypass surgery?
** nope. Not for a minute. I'd do it every year if I had to. Best decision I've ever made!!
I keep hearing about the downsides: adhesions, forever being careful of what to eat, dumping, stricture, malabsorption, etc.
** first, the downside of remaining obese - high risk of diabetes, heart issues, early death.
As far as gastric bypass downsides that you mentioned:
    Adhesions - very rare
Forever being careful of what to eat: you'd have to do this if you lost weight the old-fashioned way, too, if you wanted to maintain your loss.
Dumping: 30% of us dump. I never have -- and I know lots of others who never have, either. If you turn out to be a dumper, it's controlled by avoiding or limiting sugar (or fats - some people dump on fats). These are things we should be doing anyway.
Stricture: happens to 5% of us. Minor issue and very easy fix.
Malabsorption: 1) calorie malabsorption is what gives us a leg up on weight loss. It lasts a year or two. 2) nutrient malabsorption - rare as long as you keep on top of your vitamins
I think a lot of us once had the same concerns. I did too - which is why it took me ten years to take the plunge. And now my only regret is that I waited so long to do it.
If you don't feel you're mentally ready for it, then maybe now isn't the time to do it. It takes some serious dedication and I think you really have to be in the right mindset to be successful. But seriously, it really is the best decision I've ever made. Should have done it years ago.

Thank you everyone for your input! I started taking even smaller sips, which helped the sternum pain. And through some trial and error, I found my time between bites is best at 2 minutes. I think this will definitely help get my Protein and Fluid numbers up.

I have the sternum pain even if it’s just liquids. My guess is that I’m not waiting long enough between sips.
I definitely wasn’t waiting that long between bites of Jello. I’m guessing it’s more difficult because I’m one of the rare few who feel genuinely hungry after surgery, so it’s harder to go slow.

Thanks for your input! If timing things down to the minute is what I have to do to be successful, I will absolutely start that.

First, I'm not sure, but Jello is not usually a culprit for chest pain? Have you contacted your doc with this info?
Second, regarding the timing of bites:
I got mine down to a science. I'm also pretty anal, so this may be too extra for you, LOL:
Take one bite Wait 3 minutes (I used the timer on my watch). Ask myself: Do you want another bite? If yes go to Step 1. If no, go to Step 2. If I have answered no to this question 3 times in a row, I'm done eating. Go to Step 4 Put your food away in the fridge and try again in an hour or 2. Goes without saying, it took me a pretty long time to eat a meal in the early days. And I got used to cold/room temp food pretty quickly.
These days (2.5+ years out) I take 2-4 bites at a time and just wait a minute or so without the need for a timer. Sometimes I don't do this as well as other days and l'd pay the price either in uncomfortable chest pressure or barfs.

40lbs in 12 weeks is an awesome effort, how much would you have lost if you hadn't had surgery 🙂
You may have had a couple of mini stalls. Stay on point, keep at it, and maybe if you feel like you are too sedentary you could get out for a 15 minute walk each day in the morning ? It's a beautiful time of day, fresh air, new start, you don't know what's coming in the day. You know what, I'm going to do exactly that, starting tomorrow morning!!
    Thanks 🙂

Trust me when I say, you'll all get through this time. I have found adding apple juice to Water and not drink it icy cold was helpful in the first weeks.
Consider looking at recipes like wonton Soup, and just have the broth of that. It's got more flavour than normal broth, and you can add tasteless Protein as well.
Within a couple of weeks you'll be having puree or mash, and you'll find things far more palatable. Mashed pumpkin with butter and cracked pepper, leek and potato soup etc.
Remember you've had major surgery, your body will tell you when it wants more or less. Keep smiling and know that in a short period of time you're going to start feeling so much better, not just physically by mentally too.
    🙂

Thanks for the advice, I agree. I felt terrible on Friday, washed out on Saturday, had no BM's until about half an hour ago and boy that was terrible. I do think it's really not gone down well. Fingers crossed it's all gone and I can just have a couple of days on some bland liquids to reset.
I have to say, I thought I was having a bloody heart attack. The palpitations, racing heart, sweats etc were horrible.
