    Hi.
I'm 5 weeks post wls now.
I feel really hungry all the time.
No matter how much Water I drink.
I won't say I can eat alot at one but I'm always hungry after few hours.
Try to keep it to 3 meals and 2 Snacks maximum.
I'm afraid I am stretching my pouch already and will never loose weight.
Anyone else had the same problem?
    Plus what about carbs?
Do they make you more hungry?

I had real, legitimate hunger because I was getting hypoglycemic. I’m not diabetic, but I have PCOS so my insulin levels were too high, which would make me hypoglycemic and feel weak, shaky, and starving until I ate again. I had the same problem pre-op and naively thought the surgery would help fix it. I was started on medication which helped immensely. They gave me an appetite suppressant (phentermine), and Saxenda and metformin for the crazy insulin levels, and it made a difference in my hunger level within a day or two.

I was afraid my surgery would not be effective for me. But it turned out that it worked for me just like it did for others! Almost 2 years and 120 pounds lost later, I am now moving into maintenance and planning for how I will avoid significant regain. It'll work if you work it - by that I mean, surgery makes it easier to lose weight but you do have to build good habits as well.

I will speak to my team. Maybe I should start some PPI to calm the acid down and then see how it works out.
I had to throw up last few days but it was just acid no proper vomit.
I feel too that carbs make me feel more hungry and Protein keeps me fuller for longer.
Going to experiment more with the routine to know what suits me best.
    Really appreciate all your comments.
    Thank you

there's a chance it could be real hunger - but it's more likely stomach acid or head hunger, like others have said.
and yes - carbs do have that effect on some people. I'm not particularly carb sensitive, but a lot of people are - they seem to stimulate hunger for a lot of people..

This may just be stomach acid overproduction which can mimic hunger prompts/pains especially if carbs (like cracker & bread) stops it.
Are you taking a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) ?
You could also be facing real or head hunger. But if it a a physical feeling in the digestive system, speak to your Team and get their opinion on what to do next since you are still early post op

Thank you all for your experiences and suggestions.
It is real hunger.. my tummy rumbles, I feel low and acidity rising up.
As soon as I eat something I feel much better.
I will try and monitor it further.
Proteins like egg keep me fuller too for longer but carbs don't.
I will try and avoid carbs and eat more Proteins.< br>Maybe this will make a difference.

I was also hungry, especially with the Protein Shakes. I could never drink enough of it to satisfy me for more than hour or two. Now that I am on soft foods it’s so much better. One scrambled egg keeps me going for 4 or 5 hours. I also found that carbs don’t fill me for long, for example Cereal soaked in milk only satisfied for a couple of hours.

You sure your hungry? Or head hungry? You are at the time of Head games. Spread out your meals over 5 instead of 3 same quantity but split 5 ways

I guess the first question is is it really hunger? There’s lots of things that make us think we’re hungry but we’re not: head hunger, emotional hunger, habit eating hunger, etc. Even when acid builds in your tummy you can think you’re hungry.
A lot of the part of your tummy that produces the hunger hormone was removed in your surgery. But, all that other stuff that drove us to eat, mentioned above, that are often more powerful, are still there. That’s why doing the head work is important. There’s a lot of learning as we go through this process about why we eat, when we eat, what we eat, etc. Ask yourself do you need to eat something or just want to eat something.
I still often just don’t feel hungry & my real hunger feels different now. I feel restless, hallow & I often don’t realise that’s what’s wrong for a while.
I was told to avoid carbs because they slow weight loss, fill you up more quickly & many aren’t nutritionally rich. I don’t know about whether they make you more hungry.
Portion Control is very important. If your meals are 2-3ozs or quarter to a third of a cup & predominantly Protein you’re on the right track & you won’t be stretching anything.
You’ll work it out & there’s a lot of people on this forum willing to share their experiences & offer advice. Good luck.

    Hi.
I did not just stand or sit on it.
Increased the vibration levels slowly and did stretching targeting different muscle groups.
You can find alot of videos on YouTube.
I lost a few inches on my lower tummy, hips and back.
Really looking forward to do it again.
    Hope I could help you.

    Hi.
I'm 19 days post WLS today and on my pureed diet period.
I feel hungry and eat 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks a day, in small portions of course.
Count the calories of every meal and snack.< /p>
    Between 700-900 kcal a day.
I feel guilty after eating. Think I must starve to loose more weight. Have constant feeling that I'm not going to loose anymore weight. Putting on instead.
I'm 176cm tall and current weight is 280lbs.
Anyone else going through same situation and how do you deal with it?

Hey lovely people! I hope you all are having a lovely December and staying as corona free as possible!
After years and years of struggling with my weight and being labelled as FAT since I was 5 years old, I decided to go for the Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
I am now 26 years old and married but the insults from other people and family never stopped.
I was always on diets even as a child and played sports so was pretty active, but then at 15 years old I found out I have PCOS and that completely shattered my soul.
The weight kept piling on despite dieting and relationships became difficult.
When I met my now husband for the first time,I decided to let him know about my PCOS and the chances of not being able to conceive. It was difficult to open up and it killed me inside but he was still happy to go ahead.
As the years went on, family and friends started seeing the weight gap between my husband and I. "Look at her and look at him",they would say. "Maybe she eats his meals!" It was difficult and depressing and people would insult as if it was the most normal thing in the world to do.
Why can't people just support and not harass others? What do they from hurting people?
Due to Covid this year, I had time on my hands and decided I wanted to be a different person, one who was much healthier and happier.
I had my surgery on the 2nd of December 2020 and my weight stats are as follows:
    Highest weight: 113kgs
    Surgery weight:107kgs
    Current weight:101kgs
I am so happy I have made this decision and I can see that so many others on here have as well!
I wish nothing but love and support to all the lovely people on here.

I know.. its crazy. I'm trying not to weigh myself everyday now.
And after this 3 weeks stall, I have set my mind that I'm not gonna see any difference until its over.
So no more weighing till next 2 weeks or so.
Weighing everyday in hope of seeing less is driving me crazy.
Just trying to keep up with the Water intake, food and being more active.
Wish you all the best for your surgery.

Water bottles help me. I count the number I need for the day and out them on them on the counter. Then in the lunch box. I notice I can drink tea without sugar so use a bottle for a tea bag. Like the other person said those big cups fill them up. Put a water app or timer on your phone. I have to eat less to drink but you need the water.
Does your doctor have a dieticians? If not see one.
I added what the dietician gave me this week. Hope it helps. Hang in there

I feel the same way, I’m on my pre-op diet. I feel like I’ve become obsessed with the scale and food, in an unhealthy way. Like every time I pee... ope, I better go check my weight. It’s driving me crazy. I think after surgery I am going to put my scale away and only bring it out to check my weight on the “milestone” dates. I feel guilty about food too. My liquid diet allows for one lean cuisine a day and it’s like my whole day is planned around when I can eat that. I’m losing weight but I feel less healthy mentally.

    Water intake can come from a lot of different areas;
    1. water
    2. broth
    3. sugar free Jello
    4. tea
you can get kind of creative with jello- when you first mix it up and its dissolved in the hot water you can add the cold water and put a little in a cup and sip on the warm jello like a sweet tea treat. It is actually pretty soothing to the system
there are all kinds of caffeine free teas hot and cold, I personally found the first week or so after surgery that warm drinks were calming when ever I was gassy or had an upset system. It is also helpful with Constipation to drink a warm drink to help get the bowels rolling.
I got the Cirkul water bottle with a bunch of different flavors and find myself having to cut myself off from drinking water in the evening or else I am up all night using the biffy!!!

I highly recommend looking into the Cirkul water bottle. They have a promotional deal going where you can get the set up for $5
    https://drinkcirkul.com/pages/trial
At first I thought it was super expensive until I started to figure out what I used to spend on soda and now what I was spending on different drops and teas and other things. It really isn't bad priced when you really look at it and the actual product is AMAZING!!!

    Hi.
My doctor didn't recommend any particular number of calories.
I searched online to have an idea and assumed this would be enough for me.

He recommended 30 mins walk 3x a week maximum.
With kids at home and this weather its difficult for me to go out for a walk.
I will ask him again what type of exercises I can do at home.
I agree we are much tougher than we think.
I will start with stretching and maybe walk on the spit for few minutes.

I agree. Maybe I just need to give it more time.
What type of exercises can I don at this stage?
    I'm almost 3 weeks now.
Incisions have almost healed but was reading that the staple line needs 6-8 weeks to complete healing.
I'm scared to do something wrong in order to overdo something.
I feel stretching feeling of the pouch and pain whenever I stretch my arms or stay in a position for long time. Like sleeping on one side with arms .
