Lap Band In Chattanooga Area
Welcome!! I am fairly new myself and this is a wonderful source for support and guidance. I live in Alabama but was banded in Chattanooga on June 2nd of this year. I have bc/bs of alabama and had to jump through hoops with the 6 months diet thing and exercise at the YMCA at Shallowford. For what I understand your BMI is not the only determining factor. Other factors such as sleep apnea,bp,diabetes and others can effect their decision. Hope this helps.

shingles
Mandyjo I had them about 5 years ago. Long before my lapband, but it was a light case. It started with the left side of my stomach getting numb and then the left side of my back started to itch. It took about two weeks of medication to get rid of them. There is a thery that you cannot get them again, but I am not sure. I have heard of people who have had lots of pain for a long period of time but it may depend on how long they waited to be diagnosed. I was told to stay away from pregnant women while I was infected because it can cause some kind of birth defect. It really bothered me at the time because I was substiute teaching for a pregnant teach at the time. But everything was fine. Hope this helps.

What is longest time with no band problems
Bandofhope, I too am fairly new, only 8 weeks out. I wish we could get more activity on this site. I had to jump through the bc/bs hoops, but had my surgery in Chattanooga. Maybe we all need to check in with each other more often on this site.

Nutrition Appointment Today
Hi all, I went to my first post op nutrition appointment this afternoon and found out some news that I don't know if is good or bad. My dr. is very conservative with his fills. I have a 10cc band and he will only put at most 3 cc's in for first fill. I glad I found all this out today, but am worried about being able to lose consistantly with this small of a fill. Any thoughts.

Banded on the 3rd of July...
Congratulations Naruto, I was banded in Chattanooga last month by Dr. Rose. It is wonderful to have support from your spouse, it makes all the difference. The pain will be over soon and you will be on your way to a new chapter in your life. I can already tell the difference in the way I feel and I haven't had a fill yet. God Bless.

Thanks, I was just banded on June 2 and am a little overdue for my mammogram and was afraid of what it might feel like.

mammogram?
This question may have been answered, but I can't find it on the forum. Has anyone had a mamogram since their surgery. I was wondering if there was more discomfort than usual with the band? Thanks

I saw him yesterday for my first post-op. I will not see him again for 4 weeks to get my first fill, but I do have follow-up and nutrition apps. at the Weight Loss Center the second week of July.

Chattanooga MD recommendations?
I tried to respond to you yesterday, but I guess it did not go through. I used Dr. Walter Rose. I had thought he and your surgeon both used Memorial Hospital through the Weight Management Center there. I was banded on June 2 and have so far had no problem. Hope this helps.

Port pain post-op - need input from those already banded
Hey TDRinCHATT, I believe our Drs. are in the same group. I used Dr. Rose at Memorial. I was banded on June 2 and went for my first fill yesterday. He said the pain I am feeling around my left rib cage is where most of the instruments were inserted. Did you have this pain also. ~No~More~Waddy~

I was banded on June 2 and going for my first post-op visit tomorrow. My calories and Protein intake was not really discussed by my surgeon at my pre-op visit. What questions should I ask? Thanks

Alabama New Comer
Thanks for the welcome. I my surgery was on June 2nd. Since I live in a rural area of Alabama I had to go to Chattanooga for surgery. My surgeon's name is Walter Rose. He was very nice and I had no complications. The only ongoing problem I seem to be having is constipation. Any suggestions?
