  1. I too have a hernia repaired but it wasn't mentioned in my surgical notes but the PA told me about it when she came to see me the next morning. I also have a copy of the notes sent to my house. When I had my 7 day visit with Dr. Rehnke, he didn't mention about the hernia but pulled the steri strips off as he told me that I could start to eat puddings. I said well it's just been 8 days, he said, well try it. I did but still have gas in my vagus nerve in my shoulder. I'm going to google and find out what that is and why. Mary
  2. HI Lori, I was banded on 10/15, took the gauze bandaids off next morning in the shower, left the steri strips on until I saw my doctor a week later, he reached up and started taking them off, said just keep showing because it had derma glue and one stich in each. I'm doing fine now, still see the glue too but this too will pass. Caladonia41
  3. Where do you live?
  4. Good luck, I am also having surgery on Oct 14th also, in St. Petersburg, Fl., Dr. Ernest Rehnke.
  5. I'm sorry to be a party pooper but you are going to have to refuse a lot more dinners than just this one until you get so you can eat small portions so I would just say, I can't got with you dad, I'm really trying to take care of my health and my weight problem. Start a new life right now, I did! It's really hard but God will help you!
  6. Alicia, I'm Mary, yes we do have the same doctor. I am getting banded on 10/14, have been on my pre-op diet for 6 days now, have lost 9lbs but I do drink calorie freed drinks and water in between shakes. The first 3 days are really bad, actually this is my first day I have felt like doing a lot but I washed both cars today, yep pe for me. I don't live in St. Pete, I live in Ga. but he will take my insurance, no other Center of Excellance (medicare) near where I live. Good to hear from you!!!
  7. yes, it is difficult, this is my 6th day and it has been hard but you drink a calorie free drink everytime you think about food, I drink that peach ice tea/sugarless, it's great. The reason for the dieting before surgery is the doctor when he places the band, if you liver is swelled, he can't get the band around the stoma. He explained that the stomach has a blind place where he cannot see and the liver is in that area so if the liver is swelled, he can't get the band on so you have to diet more so it is very important to do that diet and keep on top and plan you drinks, I have 5 a day, every 3 hrs during the day and drink, drink, drink between shakes..........YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!
  8. :tt2:My doctor had me on optifast, I didn't loose any weight but my sugar count went up and I don't have diabetes, 17gm of sugar in optifast. He charged me $200 for 81-6oz. containers but I ask if he would approve UNJURY, he said yes, it's a lot cheaper but you do have to add milk and put one scoop in a glass. Go to www.unjury.com it's cool.
  9. :thumbdown:My surgery date is oct. 14th in St. Pete. Fl. by Dr. Rehnke, have been on my pre-op diet for almost a week now, lost 9 lbs. Hopefully all goes well, I know it will be nice to feel better but I've been on UNJURy protein diet, I bought it off the computer at www.unjury.com my doctor approved it because I tried the Optifast, too much sugar (17gm) way too much sugar, actually I gained weight. I had to reschedule my banding, my thyroid went real low (hypothyroidism) so after 6 wks. I'm back ready to get it done. Keep in touch! It's nice to know someone else cares too.:tt2:
