xoxoMeli got a reaction from Alex Brecher in A huge fan of Zepbound!
I'm a 40 y/o mom of 3. HW 265, GW 150, CW 142. Sleeved January 2023.
I loss my first 90 lbs within 6 months of being sleeved and maintained for another 6 months (without quite getting to goal). Unfortunately, at the beginning of 2024 I had some health issues (unrelated to the sleeve) and had to have a total hysterectomy. I turned to my old comfort of eating and gained 20 lbs in 2 months. My appetite came back with a vengeance and my head hunger was getting the best of me. In a moment of panic, I seen my Dr and she prescribed Zepbound. OMG, where has this drug been my whole life?! I loss the 20 lbs. I gained plus the rest of the weight I needed to lose to get to goal weight within 5 months. Unlike the sleeve, Zepbound also helps with the head hunger which is an issue for A LOT of us. It's truly a miracle drug! I was on Ozempic pre-surgery for diabetes and it did NOTHING for weight loss so I didn't expect much from Zep but turned out pleasantly surprised. Despite severe Constipation in the beginning, my side effects are minimal and manageable. I feel like Zepbound + my gastric sleeve was a match made in heaven. My health is the best it's been in 20+ years. Diabetes gone, fatty liver gone, triglycerides were high and are now in a normal range. My life no longer revolves around food and for once I feel "normal."
I maintain with 10mg every 10 days and it's been working perfectly.

I have been on Zepbound since Feb 2024, I have lost an additional 72 lbs while on this drug. More weight loss than my gastric sleeve. I lost about 52 lbs from that. I am on a higher dose now but have been steadily on it for the past 3 months without upping the dosage. It is not a dramatic loss but steady and Im good with that since I was at a complete stall of weight loss after the sleeve

xoxoMeli got a reaction from Melissa💖💜💙 in January 2025 Surgery Buddies!
Hello everyone. I'm 2 years post-op and was sleeved on 01/06/2023. I'm at goal and have been for awhile. I just wanted to pop in and say that I have no regrets. For the first time in 20 years, I am HEALTHY. Bariatric surgery is just a tool though, you have to follow your plan to see results and you HAVE to work on the "head hunger" because that doesn't go away with surgery. However, if you do your part. You will be pleased with the results. It feels wonderful to be on the "other side" of weight loss and maintaining. Best of luck!

UPDATE. I reached my goal earlier this year. I had a few setbacks along the way but I'm now 5'5 and 145 lbs. No regrets. Everything happened in due time. I'm just updating for those that may find themselves in a similar situation.

My husband a type 2 diabetic also tried Ozempic for 6 months. He never lost a pound. This time around hes been on Mounjaro and hes flying with it. He is loosing 3lbs a week and has lost 28lbs all together. Find the right one for you and as you say these drugs are amazing. I hope he can loose another 28.

xoxoMeli got a reaction from Mspretty86 in Bariatric Year End Review! Roll Call!
I reached my goal weight in 2024 and I'm almost 2 years post surgery. While I still enjoy food, I'm happy that my life does not fully revolve around food. I'm happy to move more and make better food choices because it makes me FEEL better. My health was on the decline due to my obesity. Now I'm healthy and living my best life.

It's really not all that uncommon. They are 2 different meds that work differently . I'm just not sure why she needs both though. Tirzepatide is wonderful all on its own.

xoxoMeli got a reaction from ChunkCat in Less then 30 lbs to go...
Thanks everyone! I haven't exercised in about 1 month so I have to get back into that. I'm sure it will help. I'm incredibly happy with my weight loss, I just really want to get to goal. Mostly because I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I have loss large amounts of weight in the past (pre-surgery) only to get 20 ish pounds to goal and fall off the wagon so now that I'm close to that point... I'm afraid of a repeat. Although I keep telling myself that this time is different.

You can go back to stage one, and try marching in place during commercials. It is amazing what a one week stage 1 reset does for your body, also have the same eating and drinking, and sleeping schedule it can break a pose, good luck. 6 yrs out I hover with in 10lbs of weight I was told to stop losing at. If I catch myself 10lbs over, I do this and wham I can lose it in a week. Everybody is different, but it works
