@dal101 thank you! I've been seeing a lmhc and a psychiatrist very regularly. We've made a lot of progress, so I'm hoping this will make the process smoother than last time around.

If you ever need to talk, I'm here for you.

I had my g.s on May 20th, 2020. As of 1 month ago I have started losing tons of hair, and notice very small bald Patches. How long before my hair becomes thick again, and any tips to prevent loss?

So. Ok. I’ve been noticing some strange & totally unexpected changes to my body post weight loss. I’m not talking shrinking feet & fingers. I mean they seem logical when I think about it but...
Was doing my makeup for Christmas Eve when I realised I could see the eyeshadow on my lids when my eyes were open. The reason this is strange is that for as long as I could remember, I’ve had hooded eyelids which run in the family. I had a fleshy overhang over my upper eyelid so I couldn’t really see any eyeshadow I applied & when I put on eyeliner I’d get a line on the overhanging part of my lid as well. But I’ve noticed my hooded eyes aren’t so hooded anymore. I can actually see eyeshadow & eyeliner just like most people do. So I guess I lost weight on my eyelids too. What the???
My neck is thinner & longer. Now the logic tells me this is because I don’t have a double chin any more & I don’t have extra flesh around my collar bones & shoulders. But I wasn’t really expecting it. I mean I’ll never have a swan like neck but I don’t feel like I’m being strangled physically or emotionally if I wear a high neck top.
Now this last one is a bit personal so beware. I’ve lost weight around my lady parts specifically my pubis region. It’s definitely less fleshy & ‘puffy’. So I guess I’ve lost weight there too. Who’da thunk it?
Anyone else noticed these changes or have other weird & unexpected changes to their bodies since they’ve lost weight?

I am extremely careful who I talk to about my weight loss surgery.
But even then the jealousy or hurtful comments come out anyway. My mum keeps saying I havent lost any weight and that I have a fat face. It was totally unprovoked and I couldnt call her out because shes very dramatic. She once asked if the surgery would make me thinner than her...
I managed to lose 4 pounds in a week a bit ago so I know I am making progress.
Anyway, weight is a sensitive issue for everyone. Some handle it better than others, some not. In my case I cant avoid it with my mum but maybe you can by not talking about it to her. She doesnt need to know if she cant be happy for you .
    Happy for your BMI victory.

I had my Gastric Sleeve in November 2016. Starting weight 485 lbs. Current weight 220 lbs.
To say it changed my life would be an understatement. If you are on the fence about having this surgery, take my word for it. It works!

I am now exactly 13 months out and I am settling in to new habits. I still eat everything I may have a craving for, but I have trained myself (and used my sleeve) to only have a couple bites of the bad things. I have found that for me physiologically I do much better when I am not as restricted by WHAT I eat, but rather HOW MUCH. High Protein and low carb are my normal now and I couldn’t be happier!
Day of surgery weight: 321 (although pic is 340) After pic weight: 194 3XL shirts are now large 46in waist now 34

It's not certain foods that stretch your stomach, it's the overreating and portions. Certain foods, however, might be rejected by your stomach. I can barely eat rice or Pasta, no more than 2 spoonfulls/forkfulls or else I'll get "the foamies" where I throw up mucus because my stomach doesn't like it. But my surgeon said it would take A LOT for someone to stretch their stomach.

I think it's more chronic overeating that will eventually stretch it - not necessarily any one thing.

I am wrestling with understanding if what I am doing is correct post gastric bypass. In the first few weeks the weight moved not very fast but faster than now. For the last 5 weeks I am losing on average between 1.5 to 1.75 pounds per week. I spoke to the dietician who first told me it was because I do not eat enough carbs and I should have rice cakes and then when I followed what she said (by adding a half of a rice cake a day) but there was no change she said I understood her incorrectly, which I do not understand as she put it in writing, and should use another plan and eat no carbs even though the other plan says start the day with toast or whole wheat crackers, I am allergic to gluten. If I am a slow loser then I just want to know if what I am doing is correct as I have pretty much started to do my own plan for the last two weeks. Is the amount I am losing post gastric bypass slow, is it a signal that something is wrong and how will I know? I am sorry for the length of this post. I have requested a different dietician and this will be discussed in January which means I am on my own for now.

You just got a body learning lesson You are way to soon to be eating oily spiced kababs! But we all have been there done that and paid for it. Switch to Avocado oil seems to be less aggressive on the tummy - Even now me and Olive oil do not get along

fat will do that to me - or eating too fast. Or some meats just don't sit well sometimes. I ate half a reuben sandwich once and felt the same way. I eventually threw it up - and at the time I was at least three years out of surgery. BUT - those have a lot of fat, and corned beef may be one of those meats my stomach can't always deal with
not sure that sounds like true dumping - that usually also involves racing heartbeat, sweating, diarrhea, chills. I think it either didn't agree with you, or you might have just eaten it too fast.

That’s one benefit of the surgery for many of us: if we make a wrong choice, push to fast or Detour from our path we’ll pay for it.... big time. And it ain’t pleasant.
    Hope you feel better soon.

That may have actually been a mild case of dumping syndrome. Sounds like it at any rate. For me it's wheat that sets it off. I get stomach pain, cold sweat, the shakes, diarrhea, light headed, and the WORST nausea! (I've had brain surgery and I thought nothing could top the nausea you feel after that, but holy crap dumping syndrome tops it!) After the, unfortunately unavoidable bathroom trips, I lay on the couch in misery because the nausea just won't go away for a good hour or so. So yeah, my opinion is it was probably a case of dumping syndrome. It may have been the oil or the fat or something else that set it off, but take note so if it happens again you can figure out what caused it

Before my surgery, I was really good about measuring everything and only eating what was allowed. But since my surgery in September, I just get my food (high Protein, low carbs) in a portion that I think I can eat, but I eat slowly, and as soon as I get that uncomfortable feeling, I stop and give my plate to my dog🐕. She has learned that she'll get fed something good every time I eat, so she stays right by my side waiting for it What I end up actually eating is a fraction of what I used to eat, and still about half of what I think I can eat now. I think the most important thing that I can do is to train myself to put my fork down when I am full and not feel obligated to clean my plate.

In my honest opinion, if you're worried about drinking right now, you're setting yourself up for failure. Drinking alcohol is limited. And Drinking carbonated is basically forbidden. Beer inflames you. Maybe stay thinking about what light beers are out there. I gave up driving socially for 2 years because I needed to focus on losing weight. Now, I rarely even crave a glass of wine. Just my opinion. Focus on what your real goal is.

For me it really just has varied every week. I know on the days that weight doesnt move that my food hasn't changed so I dont panic about the scale and viola still keep going down. I aim for a monthly goal and try to hit that because the scale can really flux with Water, bathroom habits etc on day to day basis

It's been 45 weeks since my surgery and I've averaged 2.4lbs per week. That hasn't been steady though. A LOT of peaks and valleys in there. I went over 6 weeks at one point and hardly lost a pound. I've also been lifting heavy in the gym which can throw the scale results off but overall fat loss will be down. I'm happy with the overall results so far though.
