I was pretty honest in mine, and I remember I answered true to the grey parts in law question as well I am not a fan of absolutes, and was really annoyed that it was a True/False only. If it was a scale ("Always True, Usually True, Equal True/False, Usually False, Always False" or something), I would have been less annoyed

I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork for the psych eval (like 15 pages). Then, I took two online tests that were a total of about 500 questions, and they were completely ridiculous. All true/false, and a lot of them, in my mind, were like, "well, SOMETIMES this is true, but OTHER times, it is false..." so it took a while to decide which I wanted to choose.

My personal favorite one was something like, "I sometimes laugh at dirty jokes." I'm sorry, but what kind of boring life do you have to lead to NEVER laugh at dirty jokes?

After that, I had a google hangouts meeting with the psych, who asked questions about my support system and whatnot.

    I passed, so... I guess I am sane? 🤣

Anyone who says that this is the "easy way out" hasn't looked into it at all. It's a common misconception, though, so I understand totally. Maybe just don't tell folks that don't really need to know. Or say you're going to be starting a strict, doctor-supervised weight loss plan (this isn't a lie...)

I will be having my sleeve on November 2. Hang in there, and remember, you're not alone.

    Hi all,
I've gotten insurance approval for my sleeve (no date yet) and have my endoscopy next week. I'm terrified!! I decided to have the surgery to help control my PCOS, diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. I think I feel a mix of normal fear but also embarrassment, I'm definitely obese (5'4, 206 lbs) but because I'm not morbidly obese some people that I've mistakenly told say that I should just 'cut out soda', or am taking the easy way out and I'm not. I have struggled with my weight for over a decade and my health is getting increasingly worse. I'm 42 and want to take control of my health and life before it further deteriorates. I guess I am just venting...

    Welcome to the forums.
When you get scared, review why you are doing this. You made your decision for (presumably) very good reasons. You weighed the upsides against possible downsides, and decided to soldier forth into your future.
If you focus on the worst aspect of this whole process, the actual surgery, its no wonder you are scared.
Instead, think beyond it. Visualize your success. What you intend to do with your new found healthy lifestyle.
    Good luck, enjoy the ride.

Thanks, I'm not really scared about the surgery - I've just gone through a lot of life changes this year, separation, move, etc. I'm not used to doing things for myself but I know I'll be ok and I'm SO READY for my new healthier life. I do appreciate your suggestion - I need to think beyond the surgery and stop with the what if's.

    Sometimes I’ll mix in-
    Peanut Butter powder
    vanilla Protein Powder
    matcha powder
    frozen fruit
    Fiber one cereal
    couple tbsp granola
    sunflower seeds
    a pinch of Monkfruit sweetener
It really all depends on how I’m feeling that day.

I love yogurt and have tried close to every brand out there. My favorite is Two Good yogurt. They are only 80 calories per cup, 2 grams of sugar, and 12 grams of Protein so they are very filling. They are not as sweet as Chobani and not as bitter as plain non-fat Greek yogurt. Its a nice in-between. I highly recommend you check it out.

I don't start mine until the 23rd, and the dietician told me to not start earlier (noooo problem! LOL) The paperwork is in the other room, but from what I remember, it's low carb, low calorie. Some foods, but not much. I'm glad it isn't liquids only, like a lot of folks'. I dunno how you all survive on that (afterward, sure... Before? )

I often used sugar free Torani syrups or a little sugar free Water Enhancer powder (like crystal light or true lemon) into plain fat free greek yogurt. It was amazing to create so many fun flavors and fine tune them to my tastes.

I am not post-op yet, but I am preparing I got a Dannon Light & FIT yogurt today to see what it was like. I am used to full-fat, regular sugar yogurts, which I enjoy. THIS, however, was WAY too sweet (I assume the artificial sweetener makes it that way.) Has anyone put some type of flavoring (SF syrups in small amounts or something similar) into plain yogurt, and is it palatable for someone who *doesn't* generally like plain yogurt? I dunno if I will be able to choke down the pre-made SF yogurts Especially when I see most folks think things are too sweet post-op. I think it is too sweet NOW.

A lot of foods are just too sweet for me since surgery. (A bonus.) I eat Danone YoPro yoghurt - don’t know if it’s available in the US. A 160g tub of passion fruit yogurt has 15g Protein, 94 cal, 0.5g fat & 5.8g sugar. I don’t find it overly sweet. It has a slightly denser texture - not silky smooth.Their drinking yoghurt has 30g protein in a 350ml bottle & similar ration s if fat, sugar, calories. My dietician initially suggested Chobani but that was really too sweet.
You could always purée fruits you enjoy & add them to plain yogurt. You’ll get the sweetness from the fruit & not from the sugar/sweetners in syrups.
I gurgle terribly when I have yogurt but it’s a good source of protein for me each day so I put up with the growls, whines, moans & gurgles. 😁
    Good luck with your surgery.

Mine was quite beneficial. I had to do some paper tests and fill out forms, but then we had a discussion. She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses and helped me see what I needed to do to be successful. She also talked about transfer addiction, and how to find comfort and release of stress without the aid of food or other addictions. We talked about strategies for dealing with anxiety and stress. I found it to be actually very helpful and I still think about some of the things we discussed.
