  11. Girl... I feel your pain. I feel it in all your words and the unspoken words. I have been there. This is my last mountain to climb and I am determined to win the fight against the food demons .... I also went to Mexico. I told only my DH, my two grown sons and a couple very close friends who are non judgemental. Once you tell someone, you can't take it back. You can decided to share with more people after surgery when you don't feel under such pressure. I am feeling so much better about myself. I am only 7 weeks post op but my attitude has changed so much.... My confidence is up, my self esteem is returning. Food used to be my best friend.... now I am trying to make it the band! Good luck on your journey and may you find the peace you are looking for!
  12. Paula, When we were thinking of buying the first treadmill it was in the summer. I started walking outside everyday. I was up to 1 mile in the morning and 2 at night after dinner. DH told me if I kept this up 3 -4 times a week, for two months, he would buy me the treadmill. I did and he did. But, as I said I injured my foot and couldn't use the treadmill. Good luck... Donna
  13. Don't want to sound dumb... what is PCOS?

  17. What a great thread! Thank you so much for starting it.... Living in Florida I am in shorts and bathing suits a great deal. The bathing suits are starting to bag out! My pants are just starting to fit. I was wearing my clothes so tight at the end because I refused to go up ONE MORE SIZE EVER AGAIN!
  18. Hi, This was such a personal surgery for me. I told my DH, my kids who are in their 20's, and my two best friends. That is it. I am so happy with my decision. I am usually to tell everything from the roof tops and decided not this time. It is up to you, but I agree, once you tell, you can't take it back. good luck....

Yes.... please share. What did we miss?
  20. Hi Paula, My 4 cents worth... I'm expensive, LOL My husband bought me a treadmill. I used it for awhile and then injured my foot and stopped. He kept using it. When it broke, I bought him a new treadmill from Sears. I got the service contract on it because they tune it up every year and if it breaks and you don't have the service, it costs a lot of money for them to even come out and look at it. DH used it all the time. Everyday. Me, I joined LA fitness where they have Water aerobics and everything else I need. My foot is better, but with the weight I have a bad knee. The treadmill wouldn't work for me. So, the moral of the story is.... it is an individual decision.
  21. Thanks Penni! Your advice is always right on!
  22. Mike, Hysterical................!!!!!!!!!
  23. Wow. I can so relate to all your thoughts. I have surely been there. Maybe I will diet one more time... fear, denial. Everything. The only one who can make this decison for you is YOU. You have to be totally comfortable because you have to live with it. Good luck. If you need support this is the place to get it.
  24. What ever you decide, make sure you do your research. Going to a doctor that you have to fly to gives you the same followup issues as those banded in another country. Who ever you chose, make sure you have a doctor locally that will do your fills/emergency care and any other followup you need. I was Banded in Mexico, but I have a local doctor that I spoke to before surgery to do followup. I have a local fill center for fills. The nutrisionist at Dr. Rumbauts office and I still keep in contact via email. So far, the only thing that didn't work for me was the support group I signed up for at the local hospital was for bypass patients. I am not telling you to go to Mexico or not to a certain doctor. You need to do RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH and make the decision that is best for you. Good luck.
  25. I used to read what Jack shared about not missing some of his favorite foods and I didn't understand. I don't think you do until you are in the same spot. I don't really miss my old bestfriend... ice cream. One night I really wanted it. I said I will get a small serving of SF stuff tomorrow and had some sf pudding. The next day when DH asked if we were going for icecream I said I didn't want it anymore. What a freeing feeling that was:) If I had it in the house, I probably would have eaten it! I can do this ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!
