  1. Either or. I think making it affordable will help more people attend. I would love to attend this. I was jealous when I read about the one in Texas because, I knew there was no way I could go to that. Count me in!!!
  2. Hi, I was banded 8/13/08. I have lost 30 lbs since surgery. I had 1 fill 9/12/08 of 4cc's. I went in on Fri 10/17/08 but we decided to hold off on this fill because I have lost 12lbs in 4 weeks, and although I get hungry at times it is not unmanageable. I had a really easy recovery and only took my pain meds twice. I was back to work 4 days after surgery. I credit that more to my surgeon than the type of band. As far as the web site I am really not all that impressed. I find that I prefer sparkpeople.com for keeping my food/exercise log. It is easier to use and has a larger selection. I also get weird messages from it sometimes, like I got an email telling me I haven't logged on in over a month when I just entered my weight 2 days ago. A few weeks ago when I logged on the message it greeted me with was "your weight seems to have reached a plateau. Consider consulting with your physician." mind you I have lost 30lbs in 2 months. I DON'T consider that a plateau:lol:! I do like the area where it shows what you can look like at different weights. I also like keeping track of my measurments and not just my weight. Overall I would say it is an OK website but there is a lot of room for improvement. The regular Lap-band is getting its own website now. I would say don't let the website be a deciding factor for you. I got the Realize band because I know my surgeon very well and this is what he recommended.
  3. Last week 240 this week 236.5 -3.5lbs I had an appt for a fill on Friday 10/17 but I had lost 12lbs in 4weeks so we decided to hold off. I hope that wasn't a mistake.
  4. Hi Guys I was banded 8/13/08 also. Mesha according to your stats you have lost 36 pounds since surgery. That is fantastic. Do a happy dance you are doing better than average. I know sometimes it is hard to look objectively at our own weight loss because we want it all gone NOW. The goal is to lose 1-2 lbs per week. It has been 9.5 weeks since surgery so the goal is to be at 9.5-19lbs lost so you are right on target.
  5. Very. I thought you looked familiar. I moved to Meriden my senior year. We were in physics together.
  6. It is nice to meet people online form this area. Sara Jane, Great I can't wait to see you at the meeting. By any chance did you go to Maloney High in Meriden?? Patty, This will be my second fill. My understanding is that they usually are pretty easy. To be honest though, My first one was a little rough. Don't let this make you nervous though.
  7. Since surgery I have lost 29 pounds. I will be going to see Dr Yood on 10/17 for a fill but, I am debating whether or not I need one. I am losing at a good rate but, I am hungry 2 hours after I eat. So, I will talk to him and see what he recommends. I will be at the November meeting. Did u have to do the 6 months with Dianne & Chris? My last one was in May, maybe we met there.
  8. Hi Patty, Dr Yood was my Doctor too. He banded me 8/13/08. My recovery has been great so far with no issues what so ever. I go for my second fill next Friday the 17th. I have been very happy with his practice so far. Do you go to the support group meetings on the 1st thursday of the month?
  9. Hi Alex, I deleted the browser history, the temporary internet files, and the cookies. I am still getting the same message. I have IE7 and I am running vista.
  10. Did anybody else's cycle go way out of whack post op? I had surgery 8/13/03 spotted off and on till period 8/22 then fine for a week then spotting until yesterday and now I am having one of the heaviest periods I have ever had. I hate to be one of those people who think everything is related to the band but I am wondering if this might have to do with the stress of surgery or losing weight fast. I am debating calling the gyno but to be honest I will avoid doing that for as long as I can.

  12. I can't open the Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY and in food and nutrition I can't open Share ideas, What did you eat today ? I notice that both of these have over 1,000 posts I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Is anyone else having this problem. Is there anything I can do about this?
  13. Good Luck with your surgery today. I had my surgery on 8/13/08 I was home by 4pm that day. Honestly my surgery and recovery were very uneventful. I had VERY little pain at all. I was able to get up and around without any difficulty. That being said everybody is different. If you are in pain take your meds and remember that it is easier to treat mild pain then severe. So don't try to tough it out. Take your meds when you need them. Walk, Walk, Walk and then Walk some more. A heating pad can help when you are achy. And Drink, Drink, Drink. My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Chin up, your new life begins today!
  14. Hi Everyone, As to the scale bouncing around, it is normal for there to be a 1-2 pound difference day to day. This is Water weight and it can relate to the amount of sodium the day before (retain fluids), exercise (loss of fluids), hormones (retain or loss of fluid), etc. It is better to weigh yourself only once a week and follow the general trend. I know myself that I can't weigh just once a week but I only count Wed morning as my "official" weight. The rest of the time I realize when I get on the scale that there may be a 1-2 difference and I am OK with that as long as my general trend is down. As for how long it should take to eat, physiologically your stomach begins to empty at around 20-25 mins. If it is taking you longer to eat than 20/25 minustes you are just adding more food on top of what has already begun to emptiy. 10 minutes is also a little quick though. You should always follow YOUR doctors instructions but realize how your body works. Amy, I was banded 8/13/08 also. I can't wait until Wed to go back to a regular diet.
  15. Hi Bluenurse, I am from Wethersfield too. I am also a nurse. I have been banded for a month now and just had my first fill yesterday. Where are you on this journey?
  16. My name is Heather too. I am doing the walk on the 4th also but, I will be doing it in Hartford. Sara-Jane, Good luck on getting banded. You are being banded on my husbands birthday.
  17. Lisa, Will there be a meeting this month? I was unable to make the last one. I would really like to meet some people local to talk with.
  18. maybe try some taco seasoning and hamburger/turkey also.

  20. I was banded Wed 8/13/08 and I was back to work Sun night 8/17/08. I am a pediatric home care nurse and most of the night my patient is asleep and I just have to check his ventilator. In the morning I have to get him ready which involves trach and gtube care etc. I don't have to do any heavy lifting or anything. I was a little sore after the frist 2 nights just from the bending and twisting, but nothing intolerable.
  21. Thank you, both of you. I did call the Doctors office around 3 yesterday. The NP didn't seem worried. She told me to drink some warm fluids and that the feeling should pass. She also suggested that it may be gas although it really didn't feel like gas to me. I am feeling much better now.
  22. I am one week post op and still on the full liquid diet. I was having some lobster bisque that had been "strained" of lobster. I was having no problems until I took one swallow that had a piece of lobster in it. I felt it right as I was swallowing. Everything seemed OK though until 2-3 hours later and now I have an uncomfortable feeling in my diaphram area. It doesn't really hurt it just feels like pressure. Liquids can go down ok. So now I have some questions...first can this hurt me or my band? Is there anything I should do? Is this going to rip the sutures around my band?
  23. I was just banded Wed 8/13/08. I live in Wethersfield. I am looking forward talking to others in this area.
  24. I was surprised when the nurse told me to put the gown on, I asked if I had to remove my underwear and she said no, I could leave them on. They were still on when I woke up from recovery too.
