Blyss got a reaction from JoanneLaRusch in One week post-op and on liquid diet.
I'm only 10 days post op, so pretty close to you in the process but I've not had any troubles getting liquids down. I never felt full at all with liquids. I started adding yogurt in yesterday and it's the first I've noticed starting to feel a little "full" before finishing the cup. I can tell you I have a LOT of head cravings but no true hunger I don't think. That having been said, I'm frigging sick of liquids. Soo ready to move on to purees Monday.

I'm 10 days post op. I struggle with fluids when I just do Water. I'm still on full liquids so I've been doing a couple of Protein Drinks a day, broth, and then getting the last little bit with water. That's probably not very helpful, but if you hear better pass it on to me too!

    To add to Tek’s cliches:
“When you are going through hell, keep going.”
”The first few days are the worst, and then it gets better.”
    “This too, will pass.”
    😂😂
I will be sending good vibes and hopes for a speedy two weeks!

That's a good idea. I just added sugar free jello to the grocery list for tonight. Fingers crossed.

So. I had my first appointment with the surgeon this past week. We have agreed on a sleeve gastrectomy. He said the surgery would happen in about 1 month since I'm self-pay. I have an appointment with the dietician next week and with the psychologist the week after. I'm nervous and excited. It's all I can think about. It's all I want to talk about but I'm trying not to drive my husband crazy. I thought this might be the place to talk. Anyone else out there in the same boat that wants to gab it up. I keep perusing these forums and reading all of the posts. I want to engage.

I had a few reasons for not telling anyone about my surgery. I didn't tell my family because I first looked into this surgery about 15 years ago, and my mom played a big role in talking me out of it because she thought it was dangerous and that I was going to die or have horrible complications. This time around, I did my own research and made my own decision and didn't want to give my mom or anyone else a chance to talk me out of it. I have three siblings who have always been thin, so I have a feeling they would be judgmental about it. People who have never struggled with their weight don't understand why it's not that easy for everyone to just eat less and exercise more.
I didn't tell anyone at work because I have heard negative comments about weight loss surgery from coworkers. Something that has stuck with me for years is a former coworker who complained about his wife's health insurance costs going up because she worked at a small company and two employees had weight loss surgery in one year. This guy was on his wife's health insurance instead of our company's because it used to cost less, and he complained that it was now more expensive than ours because these two ladies were "too lazy to just go on a diet." I have several current coworkers who are really into diet and fitness to the point that they make me uncomfortable, and although I've never heard any comments from them specifically about weight loss surgery, I have a feeling they would be judgmental.
Finally, I am a very private person in general and I am careful about what information I share about my life. I wouldn't tell my coworkers if I were having, say, gallbladder surgery or a hysterectomy, either. People might figure it out on their own if I lose enough weight, but I'm not going out of my way to tell anyone about it.

I work in healthcare and I've seen some horror stories up close regarding the malabsorption and complications after a bypass. I'd rather avoid the risk. I know those cases were likely the exception but still. They were pretty bad. I don't want to risk that type of situation. I know all of the procedures have risks associated, I'm just trying to mitigate those risks where I can. I know I really need to just talk with the surgeon but that appt is two weeks out and I'm really having a hard time not delving into this as much as I can before then. Impatient would be an understatement.

I am relatively healthy. No hypertension. Not diabetic. No sleep apnea. Only on meds for depression. Occasionally I take something for heartburn but it's not an every day issue for me. I'm doubtful that I would want a bypass because I'm afraid of the malabsorptive procedures in general. The surgeon I'm going to still does lapbanding. I plan to ask about both and see where he leads me.

Hello all. I am just starting in my wls journey. I have made the decision to have surgery, just not which one. I initially planned to have the lap band but the more I read, it seems my bmi may be on the high side for a band. And the upkeep seems daunting. This started me reading about the sleeve and now I'm just not sure which is the best. I will be travelling about three hours to have the procedure, whichever it is. I have an appointment with the surgeon in about two weeks and would like to go in prepared to ask the right questions. Any guidance would be appreciated. My bmi is 45.7.
