  1. Could this be hypoglycemia? (Low blood sugar)
  2. The difference is the particle size. Granulated is normal table sugar. Confectioner is powdered sugar consistency.
  3. I’m 24 days since RNY. Everything was going smoothly. I was tolerating purées with no issues and following my required diet. Late last week I was overwhelmed by the smell of food cooking and vomited. I was sipping my morning protein shake at the time. Since then I’m having ongoing nausea. I’m struggling to get my protein shakes in and basically surviving on sf popsicles and water. I’ve only vomited that once. Is nausea at this stage common? Or do I need to contact my surgeon?
  4. Miralax works by adding water to the outside of your stool so it slides through more easily. Dulcolax works by increasing intestine contraction. I found that miralax just wasn’t cutting it. I think my intestines are just a bit sluggish still 2 weeks after surgery. All I had to take was 1/4 dose of dulcolax and it worked like a charm. Also, if I eat enough sugar free popsicles and suck on enough sugar free werthers, it helps too.
  5. I was self pay also and ran into the same issue. The hospital wouldn’t allow an Uber or cab because I would have been at risk of being taken advantage of. I found a website at care.com. It costs to join but you can hire the level of care you need from applicants.
  6. I packed a huge bag. The only things I used were my chapstick, toothbrush, hair tie, and phone cord. I did also shower at the hospital before they took my drain out so I used my mini shampoo/ soap/ conditioner.
  7. No, if you use almond milk, the pudding won’t set. As a tip, it works great to mix instant pudding in a shaker container. (That you mix shakes in) it’s extra easy to portion out into smaller containers.
  8. Omg, this is me today! Surgery tomorrow first thing. I’ve made it through the week of protein shakes and clears. I had to do bowel prep last night and I feel terrible today. I can only have clears. I tried to have some chicken broth but then it came back up so I haven’t eaten much. Can’t wait to be through tomorrow! Good luck!!
  9. I’m on Monday too for RNY bypass. I’m excited and anxious all at once. I’ve had 1 week of protein shakes and clear liquids. Bowel prep starts at 2 pm tomorrow. I’m looking forward to this next stage in my life even though it’s going to be challenging.
  10. Anxiety is an illness... just like a vitamin deficiency. You are going to have to go to a dr and / or therapist to get it treated. You say you are following your plan and have had confirmatory blood results. It is silly to ruminate on it. Make an appt today!
  11. This is the brand my surgeon recommended also.
  12. The mind is such a crazy thing and I think that’s going to be the hardest thing for me. Plus years of habits and coping mechanisms. I keep reminding myself... I AM worth the hard work it’s going to take.
  13. I’m 11/30 RNY with Dr Patrick Gatmaitan in Pensacola FL. I have to do one week pre diet, which is clear liquids only. It’s definitely going to be a challenge thanksgiving.
  14. I don’t mind the premier cookies and cream, but I cut all of my premier shakes with an equal amt of skim fairlife milk. It tastes better to me and my stomach doesn’t protest as much... and I’m still pre surgery. I wonder what after will bring.
  15. I was told the same. It doesn’t matter how I arrive, but I can’t even take an Uber or taxi when I leave. It has to be family or friend.
  16. No, it isn’t chalky at all. I’ve had luck cutting my premier protein shakes with an equal amt of fairlife skim milk.
  17. I’m 11/30. Currently bouncing between excited and terrified! Lol
  18. Yikes! Hope you’re doing better! I’m guessing an upper EGD or barium swallow is in your future to see what’s going on. Fingers crossed it’s not a leak!
  19. I read a study that said that 38 percent of people who get the sleeve end up revising it to RNY later. I’m self-pay and I want to get it right the first time.
  20. I think that generally liquids should be measured by volume and solids by weight. It kinda makes me think about all the times I used a measuring cup for flour/ sugar versus the Great British Baking Show weighs those items.
  21. I’m so amazed at how different the various drs and programs are. Mine says clear only for 3 days post surg. Then liquids for a week. Purée doesn’t come until day 10 after surgery.
