About Me

  • Biography
    5’2

HW 225

SW 207

GW 140

Sleeved 6/18/2020

I am a very blunt person and will tell it like it is.

I got the sleeve because of my continuous lung and stomach problems growing up. I had esophageal bleeds and stomach bleeds that required endoscopies and surgeries to control.

By 15 I was referred to a new pulmonologist who showed my why he believes my lungs have early onset signs of COPD and we took as many precautions as to try to reverse my lungs from getting worse. A few years later I was diagnosed with hypotension. After years of little to no improvement but thankfully no decline on my lungs or blood pressure, we discussed the sleeve.

My surgery was delayed 6 times due to the surgical restrictions because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, though I did get my surgery on June 18th, 2020! The only main difficulty I am having since surgery is trying to stick to my meal plan. I never feel hungry and it’s hard to make myself eat. I still do it, but am trying to look for new ways to manage a new eating routine.

I have gained weight due to steroids and prednisone over the years, but was never getting this surgery for weight loss reasons. I want to have a happier and healthier life where I don’t need to count my breathing in my head, I am able to explore more of life since surgery.

I am thankful for all this new life has given me already and I can’t wait to see what more I can do without all these health restrictions holding me back anymore! 💕

  1. As mentioned in another comment. It was to help treat my low blood pressure and to fix my reoccurring esophageal and stomach bleeds and required upper endoscopies and surgeries. I understand where everyone is coming from. Losing the weight is helping, though it’s my ability to use my lungs that’s the major improvement, and regulating my blood pressure so I’m not always dizzy and nauseous. Any WLS has a similar journey because the surgery itself was for weight loss. All I’m trying to say is I didn’t do it FOR weight loss, I did it for the other remedies as a result of the surgery. I’m not trying to be different or see myself as different at all, I’m just asking for personal experiences on other health conditions that improved because of the surgery..
  2. Lol okay I may have missed that comment and never saw it then. My profile won’t let me upload a profile picture or bio yet and it’s making people question when I comment on things.. getting annoying lol
  3. I’m not a bot. I literally downloaded this app less than a week ago and this was my first post. Way to be rude tho. 👌🏼 I may not have fully explained because I know there are many other reasons to needing the surgery besides weight loss. It helps with many other health concerns. I didn’t specify mine in the main post because I wanted to know other people’s stories who did it other than for weight loss. Mine is because I had lung problems, asthma, early onset signs of copd, esophageal and stomach bleeds that required surgery to stop and recover from. I haven’t finished setting up my profile with my full story.
  4. No. I did it for my lungs. It was mentioned above about gaining weight due to bad food habits. Which I had none.
  5. I gained weight from the steroids and prednisone and other medications I was on for my lungs for 4 years. When I met with my nutritionist she told me that I would only need to worry about making sure I eat enough because of the portion changes. I often don’t eat meals and just snack healthy throughout the day. Just the readjustment of timing was their only concern for me. My head is in the right place and my psychologist cleared me after our first appointment but still had me go to my second one for insurance purposes. I did it for other medically necessary needs and am just finding it hard to force myself to keep eating when I am not hungry but am scheduled to do so. I used to get winded walking or even rolling over in bed because my lungs were so weak.
  6. Has anyone done the sleeve or bypass for non-weight related reasons? I did it for my severe asthma. I haven’t taken my inhaler since the day before I went in for surgery and I’m 5 weeks out. I feel like it’s extremely difficult to stick to my meal plans because I never had a food problem before.
