ladyJ2198 reacted to MandoGetsSleeved in How long after gastric sleeve did you wait to drink
Will probably get slammed for this one... But... My birthday was exactly 1 month after my sleeve and I had a drink. Just one and I mixed Vodka with Diet Cranberry. Honestly, I was surprised that I didn't want more than one since I was a somewhat heavy drinker before surgery.
It's very strange to me as someone who really enjoyed social drinking that I now prefer Water over anything else.

I was told no drinking until I reach maintenance stage although they would prefer it if I never drank again.

RNY here (so not sleeve). However, all patients (VSG and RNY) at my clinic were told to wait a year. I waited three years, but then, I never was much of a drinker. I probably have a glass of wine two or three times a year now (and I can definitely feel it after just one glass!)

I am going to Vegas in 2 weeks, I’m not a drinker but I’m sure I will want to enjoy some drinking. When is it ok to drink? I had surgery 7/14

Congrats on having your surgery & your weight loss so far.
You likely aren’t doing anything wrong. Generally, the less you have to lose the slower you’ll lose. But, we all lose at our own rate. Some at similar height, age & weight will lose very quickly, others will lose very slowly. Our age, genetics, gender, health, personal weight loss history, type of surgery, etc. all impact our progress. There is no right or wrong speed just as long as you’re losing.
Stick to your program. Do the work. You will lose your weight & get to your goal just in your time. Just watch those numbers decrease, your clothes to get too big, your health to improve & enjoy your progress.
Good luck.

Considering you started at a lower weight compared to many others (my surgery weight was 321) you are actually doing REALLY good! I lost 59 pounds in the first three months (and I was 63 pounds heavier than you on surgery day) and you've lost 36 so far. I also admittedly had a different surgery than you though I do have a sleeved stomach with my surgery. Honestly, you shouldn't feel discouraged at all, you're doing amazing! Be proud!

The first 4 days I asked myself why I did it bc no one told me the pain would be so bad , maybe I just did not do enough research, then I hated the liquid diet the worse but not I’m 5 weeks out and 18 pounds down (which I think is minimal) but I’m glad I did give it time your regrets will disappear

I had surgery on 8/11... not going to lie I had puréed tuna with low-fat mayo and lemon juice blended all together... it was amazing. I know it's a little early. But I did great with it surprisingly. Only ate about an oz though.

Your BMI is 25.5 - why are you scared that "this is it"? You're at a normal weight already.

I've worn leggings and long shirts and maxi dresses. But I work remote most days, so I don't have a need for office wear yet.

We all have been there and most of us are still there. Yesterday for the first time since my surgery I ordered a subway sub. No freaking reason why, Just wanted to do something naughty -- yes i ate the six inch, In the old days could take down to 12 s easy.
Its a Mind Games, it was just such a habit for all of us for decades that we just follow a pattern. I will say this it does get easier. I am a trained culinary guro, I cook now for taste and quality for myself, Focusing on wild high end stuff to meet my addiction to food, and to keep my mind going. At the same time i will cook for my teanagers and there friends in USA normal size big portions loaded with Carbs and such. They are both in great shape and need the carbs for cross fit.
It will get easy just look at food as a skilled Hobby not a addiction

ladyJ2198 reacted to Lily66 in Postop without narcotic pain meds
My Dr. sent me home with liquid Gabapentin, liquid Tylenol and Zofran sublingual. He stressed it was imperative that I especially take the GABAPENTIN AS DIRECTED and UNTIL FINISHED. It really helps with nerve pain, and staying on schedule with it keeps your body AHEAD of any pain that may arise👌.
Just as you are, I was concerned about whether it would adequately address the pain, and it totally did. It was all I needed, and didn’t even have narcotic pain meds in the hospital. I walked, walked, walked as soon as I could and had not even a hint of the gas pain I’ve heard so much about. I can honestly say the only pain I had was getting in and out of bed, so I chose to sleep in a cushy yet supportive recliner for nearly 2 weeks. Wearing a binder and keeping a small pillow close by to hold your tummy as you get up and down, is also helpful.
Another good reason for not taking narcotic pain meds is Constipation. Trust me, you want NO help bringing that on😬!!!!

ladyJ2198 reacted to Arabesque in First period after gastric sleeve
This is pretty common. It’s because of the flush of hormones being released into your bloodstream. As you lose weight, the oestrogen that was stored in your fat is released which causes the difficult periods - heavy, bad pmt, irregular, etc.
Being menopausal, I had the reverse situation. All the oestrogen stopped my menopausal symptoms. Unfortunately, now I’m in maintenence & all the stored oestrogen is gone, the hot flushes are back.
