Doing ok over here! Down 2.2lb since operation day! Still having some minor gas pains, and some pain where they biopsied my liver. Doing well on my liquid diet. I have my first post-op on 1/6, she will likely clear me to full liquids.

Throw it out, like Neller said, you already paid for it, so the money's already spent and you don't need it tempting you. I remember giving some away to family and friends just by saying, "I've started a diet and don't want this in the house anymore and thought you could use it."

Im doing pretty well. I’m also on purées. I can fit in all purées and one shake. So I am getting there. I also don’t have to take tiny sips anymore. Just normal ones. Not huge gulps but normal drinks. I’ve lost 14lbs in 9 days. Unfortunately I had a reaction to my surgical glue and broke out in a red rash around each incision. I had to go on prednisone from my surgeon with protonix and benedryl that makes me so sleepy. Other than that, no pain. I feel great! Feeling very happy (albeit itchy). Can’t wait till that subsides and I’ll be at 100%. :) hope everyone else is having a good recovery!

Checking in! How is everyone doing?! Hopefully well!
Today I "meal" prepped some more purees. Egg salad, chicken salad (which I'm usually not a fan of but it tasted so good lol), and buffalo chicken dip puree. I've been eating between 1.5-2oz each meal. Today has only been 2x, its just one of those days I just don't feel like eating much though I've gotten Protein with the shake too.

Today I am 10 days post op, and after what feels like 97 years, I can go to the full liquid diet. I just had 1/2 a cup of creamed Soup, strained. Mentally, I feel SO much better!!!! That being said, what are your go to full liquids? ??

I have a Protein Shake everyday. I tried the Unjury, and the taste literally makes me gag. Right now, I usually have the Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino flavor (it is caffeine free) every morning for Breakfast. Since my plan allows coffee/caffeine, I mix it with some coffee concentrate, Fairlife 1% milk, and Water. It gives me 30 grams in one go, and tastes good. I also sometimes have all or part of a Built Protein Bar during the day as a snack, or lunch on the go. The whole thing provides another 17-19 grams of Protein. The Built Bars are really good, if you have not tried them. For lunch and dinner, I follow the protein first rule and have no problem getting my >60 grams per day (usually around 80 grams), thanks to the protein shake for breakfast. I was having more Hair loss, but it got better when I started getting adequate protein. It really is that important. Getting the protein might help get your stall to un-stall.

For the period issue, rapid weight loss can really mess with your hormones. Things will probably go back to normal in another few months. Check in with your doctor next time you see them.

    Good luck! 😊

Sounds like hormonal weight gain (fluid retention) due to pms to me. Give it a few days and see where its at, hopefully the Fluid retention will have gone.

I am a vegetarian. I had my surgery on 12/30, so the jury is still out on whether or not I’’m lactose intolerant now... but regardless, if I stumble upon some dairy free Protein sources that are awesome I’ll let you know. I already had issues drinking straight milk before my surgery. I could eat cheese, yogurt, and ice cream (on occasion) with little difficulty though. I think their processing makes it easier on my stomach. Anyway, like I said I’ll keep you posted if I find something awesome!

You gotta stay hydrated. Put some flavored powder like Crystal Lite in it, it comes in various flavors. I buy the sugar free generic Kroger brand of peach tea and it's wonderful stuff, otherwise I cannot stomach plain Water and wouldn't drink enough. I drink 12 8-0z glasses a day.

Gas pain - WALK WALK WALK.... If you have that sharp pain in your upper chest when you swallow - You know, the one that makes you think you made a HUGE mistake? - That lasted more or less about a week for me. Every day I noticed it got a bit better and then just went away. Keep sipping and power through it if you can.

What about Protein Shakes? Protein Water? In the pureed stage you can have scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. I still, two years post-op, drink a Protein Shake every day.

I’d be interested in trying it. I’m not vegan but I’m lactose intolerant so I tend to go planet based on a lot of things. Thanks for the info.

On a similar vein, I found a vegan high Protein broth made with tofu/soy. I haven’t had any yet, but I got it at Walmart.

I used to eat and still like Pure Protein Bars alright, the plain chocolate ones, not the Peanut Butter ones. I really, really like Optimum Nutrition Protein Cake Bites in the chocolate frosted donut flavor. I thought I liked "moon cheese" Snacks, but not so much anymore. I don't like Pork rinds. I still do the occasional sugar-free popsicle. Oh, and peanuts.

I generally have the triple chocolate bar from Atkins. It's 13 grams of Protein, 160 calories, 1 gram of sugar, 8 grams of fat, and 15 carbs. Snacks vary. I sometimes will have a fruit cup, carrots and ranch dip, mini bell peppers with some cheese sprinkled on it dipped in salsa, protein chips, carb smart ice cream, a cheese stick, unsweetened apple sauce cup, etc.

I joined this forum in hopes of finding like minded people! I’m having gastric bypass on Jan 4, 2021. Some of my emotions have been:
shame-shouldn’t I be able to do this without surgery? And will people think this is just an easy fix?
excitement- I have worked soooooo incredibly hard to get to this point.
fear- what if I am one of those who actually fail and regain my weight? What if I can’t handle the emotional rollercoaster after (this pre-op diet is no joke though!)?
identity crisis- I have been thin for maybe 2 years out of my 38 years. My weight has been an excuse for people not liking me or not being able to do things. It has been a part of me and though I have been miserable for most of these years, I am a little scared of having a new outward identity.
I could go on... can anyone relate????

mil_unloaded reacted to catwoman7 in How are your scars from labaroscopic procedure?
I did RNY. The scars are mostly the same, although there's one incision on the VSG that's longer because that's where your stomach is pulled through. Anyway, I can't see mine at all anymore. They never bothered me at all.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that you had Gastric bypass and they sent you home the same day. I am having surgery on the 12th and was told I'd be there at least 2 nights. I have seen a couple of posts where ppl said they came home the same day with gastric bypass. I'm sure every dr is different? Keep us posted please, and take really good care of yourself.

I’m awake! Alive! I’ve peed a ton. The breathing tube test thing is my mortal enemy because the excess gas won’t let me breathe! So much burping! I’ll update more when I get home!

I got sleeved on the 21st and hiatal hernia repaired as well. I believe this was the worst pain I ever felt in my entire life right after coming out the operation room. Thank God! I slept through the night, and my nurses were giving me good care at the hospital. Gas pain wasn’t tough like I see lots of people have been complaining about. Walking, walking non stop at the hospital is live saver. I wish anyone who’s gonna go for weight loss surgery best of luck. Remember! Always follow your surgeon and primary doctor instructions.

I am jumping for joy while pushing the panic button at the same time! ACK!
I am in search of book recommendations, items you found invaluable after surgery and any other advice you are willing to share!
