hi to all
:smile2:hi to all! i am not new to this website, but i am back to this website. i was looking into the lapband and then i decided after studying the vertical sleeve gasterectomy that it may be a better option for me. i had lots of problems trying to get the money to finance the procudure because i dont have enough credit to get a good loan amount. it stressed me out so bad that i have decided to chill and wait for a while but in the mean time, i am thinking about the lapband again because it is reversible and the VSG is not....if u can, please shed anything rather good or bad on the band and ur experiences with it so far..thanks!

Any TLBC patients out there?
how are u feeling with ur band and how much total have u lost?

Cigna
What is a Center of Excellence? I am not sure yet what exact policy it is. I just know that it is Cigna. I won't have insurance for another 2 mnths but I am just checking ahead of time. I am really intrested in getting VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gasterectomy), but didn't have good luck with getting financed for the amount needed. In the summary of benefits already given to me by my new employer, it states that "coverage will not be provided for the following unless medically necesssary"...and they mention cosmetic surgery but nothing that relates to WLS, so I am not sure what to think?

New here and getting VSG
The sleeve is also what I am considering and a good website to meet lots of others who have had the procedure as well as get LOTS of knowledge is OH (ObesityHelp.com).

Cigna
Anyone have Cigna? If u do, what were u told as far as the coverage for WLS...How can I find out of the Cigna I have covers WLS? I will have insurance thru Cigna with my new company in 2 mnths. Please advise!

BCBS of South Carolina (HELP)
:blush:Ok i was truly thinking about being banded until i saw more information on the sleeve and i am thinking that may be more of the one for me. anyways, to the insurance! i dont have insurance right now, but i will on 8/1 BCBS of South Carolina. i am not sure that the insurance is going to cover the procedure so i am needing some advice. should i look into weight loss surgery as soon as the insurance kicks in or wait some months? also, if i cant get approved by the insurance and need to do self pay, what are the options out there. if i go with the lapband i am going to use dr wade barker here in tx but if i get the sleeve i am going to use Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in mexico....please ANY advice will help me...

Nausea
Wow. I feel better as well. Thanks for all the information because as I stated that is one of my biggest fears of all is worrying about always vomiting. Anything u all suggest not to eat that may come back up?

Nausea
WOW. I AM ALSO THINKING ABOUT BEING BANDED LIKE ASAP BUT THAT IS THE ONE MAIN THING THAT I AM SCARED OF BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE ALWAYS THROWING UP OR GAGGING. THAT IS WHY I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO TELL B4 HAND WHAT U CAN AND CANT EAT BECAUSE I DONT EVEN WANT TO CHANCE IT!

drew05..yes u did help...thanks so much because i was wondering what PB meant and know i know. i am scared and funny that you mentioned no weird dreams because i am scared that once they put me out that i am gonna have a bad dream and cant wake up..lol...scared is not even the word. then i dont want anything to go wrong afterwards like slippage, erosion or anything like that. i have been lookin into dr wade barker and benavides here in dallas because i was told that they are good dr's. i just got to find a way to pay for this procedure because i just started a new job and insurance kicks in on the 1st if august but with me being new i am not so sure that they are gonna want to pay for that. also i have credit, just not enough. hopefully something works out soon. i dont even want to go to seminars or consultations because i dont want to get my hopes up high for nothing and then cant pay! thanks again for ur support~

Gayle Tx, thanks so much for all your important information. YES the family thinks I am A ok because I dont have health problems "AT THE MOMENT". My mom is very heavy set and she has alot of health problems and she is really scared of weight loss surgery. I am scared too but I have to do something to make Lora feel better. I have gotten depression and it has caused me not to feel attractive at all. I dont want to live this way no more. I have been on too many yo-yo diets and I am just tired of it. I loose good at first and as you stated I gain it back and some. As far as my credit goes, I have some but not enough and my income is too much for medicaid. I am going to have insurance as of Aug 1st but beeing that it is going to be a new policy for me at a new job I am not so sure that is going to go too well. Thanks for all your information and I will let you know as I move forward.

New From Dallas TX
Hi to all. I am new from Dallas Tx and I am thinking about getting banded. I thought about this last yr and then family members talked me out of it and I just stopped looking at the procedure all together. WELL...here i am again! Looking into the procedure. I am almost 100% that I want it done. I am scared because I have never been put to sleep to begin with and I have heard people vomit alot with the band and I cant deal with that at all! YUCK! I am 4'9 and I am 235 lbs.People always tell me that I look good because I am proportionate but I dont think so. I want this weight off! I have tried diets, pills, weight watchers, ear staples (acupuncture) and more and I do ok for a while and off the wagon I fall. I need all the advice I can get. Looking for a good Dr here in Dallas. Not sure how I am going to pay for procedure because I dont have insurance and I dont think that I am going to be able to get financed because I dont have any credit which is the same as BAD credit. If anyone has any answers to any of my questions, pls pls pls shed some light. I wish all a Happy Weekend!
