Annie1023 reacted to starladustangel in Did you keep surgery a secret? What did you tell people?
I told everyone. I had two coworkers have surgery before me and my mom had surgery 4 months before I did. Because of my coworkers I knew our benefits plan would cover it and short term disability would fully cover my time off. Because of my mom I knew I needed to do it because the issues I was having due to my weight were not going away. I am lucky to work for a company that is supportive of employees having the surgery though.

I got mine from Lauren’s Hope. I’ve attached pictures but you can customize the info on most of the ones they offer. Sign up for emails and get a discount. Reasons for one include no blind NG as it can perforate the stomach wall because your anatomy has changed. NSAIDS like ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers and bleeding, and sugar can lead to dumping syndrome. Also, mine says LSG instead of VSG because they’re different scarring patterns.

Annie1023 reacted to momof3_angels in Today's major NSV
I climbed a mountain. No seriously, I CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN! I stopped doing uphill hikes MANY years ago because my tachycardia was so bad it made me short of breath to the point I had to rest every 20 feet. Today? I hiked for 14.2 miles. I took the shorter but steeper path up, and the longer but less steep way down. I climbed 3989 ft. I reached the summit of our local mountain. It was amazing. And for most of the uphill, I was able to stop at normal people intervals. And only 4 people passed me (one at the beginning, one in the middle, and a couple at the end. I did stop more frequently when was getting closer to the summit, but I really don't think it was moreso than the average exhausted hiker. My HR WAS quite high during all the incline, but my breathing was still controlled. And this is WITHOUT my tachycardia medication which I had to stop several months ago because my BP was getting too low. Needless to say, this is a major victory.

Annie1023 reacted to Teres36 in Covid Test!
I went for my Covid test this morning and tested positive! I have no symptoms and have not been around anyone with symptoms. The only places I’ve been in the past two weeks were doctors office and radiology all for my preop testing while wearing a mask and everyone else had one on too. This really sucks now I’m postponed again for the third time! Starting to get discouraged after doing the liquid diet three times. Praying I don’t develop any symptoms!

Annie1023 reacted to Ed_NW in What, you had NO surgery complications?
I've found that the best information as far as what to expect out of your choice of WLS for the first year can be found on YouTube. There are endless hours of people recording their journey from pre-op usually until a year post-op. I watched all the ups and downs and learned a lot of dos and don'ts from many people on YouTube well before I had my surgery. It was like binge watching Netflix. I couldn't wait to see the next episode.
It seems most people come to forums like this for immediate answers to something that's going on right now. Each platform has it's own unique set of benefits and weaknesses. I think for research into WLS, YouTube is the best resource to see the bigger picture. For support and immediate answers, groups like these are the best places to go. What ever a person does to prepare for this life altering decision, they should explore every possible resource available. Knowledge going into this is definitely empowering.

Annie1023 got a reaction from Sabs211 in 3 weeks in!
I am so thankful to have found this app! I am also at the 3 week stall & was getting so frustrated! I mean, to see the scale actually go up a few pounds rather than down was pretty discouraging .. glad to know that this is normal. I am also noticing that my body is changing even if the scale isn’t. 😊

Gracie my Special Pal....Now don’t get ticked at me, we’ve come through way too much together, but let me make a prediction: Initial impressions often end up being the opposite to be true.
Prediction: Six months from now GRACIE will be the most pleased with results of ANY of us! Gracie will be saying SO GLAD I DID THIS! Just wait till that fat melting motor kicks into high gear and watch out!!!😀💃💥💝🚀
Love and Hugs, Lily
