    sweetsmith78 reacted to james2021 in 1 year post-sleeve -- no regrets!
Just wanted to drop a note of encouragement to the folks who are considering surgery, pre-surgery, in the early recovery stages. I had VSG on May 20, 2021 and started out 355 lbs. In a year, I'm down to 237.2. Life is so much easier, I have so much more stamina, and I'm so glad I had surgery and didn't get cold feet. Once I was out of the recovery phase it has been amazing how normal life feels, even if it's a new normal. I am wishing you the best and keep at it! ❤️

Wow that’s amazing! You look great!
I’m one year out post sleeve on the 11 october 22 I’ve lost 94lbs and have only lost a pound a month for the last 3 months or so, I want to lose more though so I’m not accepting this is it.
I know I won’t be in the normal range ever but to be out of the obese range will be enough for me. I’d like to lose another 30lbs fingers crossed.
I’m grateful for my restriction, I do eat bad things occasionally but just a bite of my husbands not the whole thing that way I’m not restricting myself completely.
    I walk 5 /6 days a week in the evenings, 5/7 miles.
I can eat more than the start now but still only a child’s plate size and I don’t eat all of that if that makes sense.
I do get frustrated that o don’t see losses that often now but even if I maintain I am grateful.

looks like the standard BMI range. The PA at my clinic said bariatric patients often look 10 lbs lighter than they are because even though we lose bone and muscle along with fat, you're always going to have more bone and muscle than someone who's never been obese. You needed that "infrastructure" to hold up all that weight - and even though you lose a lot of it while you're losing fat, you're still going to have more/heavier bones and muscles than someone who's always been normal weight. So long way of saying, my clinic is fine with people who end up "overweight" or "class I obese" (which is actually not very obese - we're talking like 20 or 30 lbs). They'd consider that pretty normal.

I'm about 2 years out from gastric sleeve. I have done my routine blood work. "Maybe not as much as I should have." From day one I never took supplements I pretty much eat a clean diet. But not really strict. My blood work for Vitamins have been perfect. I'm not sure why the drs push vitamins ?
    Everyone is different!

sweetsmith78 got a reaction from KimA-GA in Frustration
I'm 2 years out I've had my ups and downs of weight loss. I've have worried daily in my success of weight loss. On how many calories, rite Vitamins, exercise, list goes on. I may have been the lucky one or am I? I went thru the phase of regret not able to enjoy the food I once loved. But I loved loosing the weight. Slowly. Sex drive went down hill. hair falling out skin crepping. " Blood levels are normal" .
Started out with small weight loss goals. Reached my goals. Over and over again my goal weight was 125. I told my self I have to stick to a healthy weight for me . Not what the experts say I should weigh. Then it was a goal of 115. in my head I'm not satisfied I'll do another goal of 110. So I decided it's time to maintain my weight or gain 10 pounds back. Since I'm now 100 lbs. I'm trying to gain weight. And I'm struggling!! I want to gain. should I eat the three C's cake, cookies, ice cream? Of course not what are healthy fattening foods?
The positives. Looking good feeling good.

I had my sleeve done 8 months ago. Im maintaing weight now. I'm ok with it. I could go another 20. To be realistic, I understand the last few pounds are the hardest. But in my mind it's a protective fat layer in case i become sickly for some reason. I do not want to look anorexic.
My appetit come back for about 2 months. I watched what I ate and excersized Daily. As of now im a bit concerned. I hope to get some in put on this matter.. My appetite in the past few weeks is gone! I have to force my self to eat and when I do. I'm very nauseous. What is going on??. Like I said hunger came on full force now all a sudden not hungrey and nausea when I do eat. What's your thoughts on this?

sweetsmith78 reacted to BigJay79 in 3 Month Stall. WTF?!
You have to shock up your system. If you have a normal eating routine switch it up, and walk more if you can. Water in take is super important. You lost a lot of weight and when u hit that stall shocking the system and changing things up will help. Don't let your body get use to to same routine of foods. If u have been eating chicken stop that for two weeks and eat fish. Or visa versa. We need variety.

Yes! I have Very slow weightloss 2lbs a week..at least it's coming off..they say slower weightloss is healthier , more apt at keeping the weight off..im happy at 2 lbs a week. Of course I wish it was more..those 2 lbs a week add up quickly. My surgery date was in June . as of today I have lost 47 lbs..very slow but effectively.

I'm 4 months out. I stay away beef or any tough meat due to pain. We are still pretty early in recovery. Especially 6 weeks, weigh your food. Eat and drink smaller portions. When I was 3 months. I though I was never going to be able to drink or eat with out pain. Was thinking I made a huge mistake. As time is moving on I find it less painful. Still not able to eat salads in which im craving badly. Just take it slowly. Things get better with time.

Give your self sometime. Your body is adjusting. Make sure to drink you fluids and Protein Drinks. If I don't get my Protein in, I stall.. Stalls are very common. After the stall you should have a drop in weight. Keep positive. Don't step on the scale everyday. Try once a week or you will drive your self batty.😜

I was told to not drink caffeine so I drink caffeine-free ice tea. If you're taking your Vitamins your body has all it needs. Honey is sugar, this is not good for you. I put a slice of lemon in my tea. Watch what teas you drink as you are now taking a slew of vitamins and they may not be friends. My thyroid medicine is affected by them and we are trying to figure out a new schedule.

I am an avid hot tea drinker, not only for enjoyment but for the health benefits many teas offer. Green teas, herbal teas, you name it. On a day to day basis, I drink my tea with no sweetener. However, honey has medicinal benefits (especially raw, organic honey that is locally harvested). So, when I feel like my immune system needs a little boost, I'll add a little raw, organic honey to my tea. It's especially good with a slice of lemon.
