That really sucks. Can't understand how they can send someone on their way with no further info. For what it's worth my program outlined the following:

FOR LIFE: 64 ounces of Water a day
FOR LIFE: 60-70 grams of Protein a day
FOR LIFE: All required Vitamins (multi Vitamin, B12, B1, Calcium)
    30-30-30 Rule

And since you most likely won't be able to eat everything as suggested, you should eat protein first, then veggies, then starch, etc.

    AFTER SURGERY:

    FULL LIQUIDS for TWO WEEKS
    PUREE STAGE for ONE WEEK
SOFT food STAGE for TWO WEEKS (suggested 5 servings protein, 2 fruits/veggies, 1 starch, 1 healthy fat)
REGULAR FOOD for LIFE (suggested 7 servings protein, 1 dairy, 3 starch, 2 fruit, 2 veggies,, 2 healthy fat)

I was not given calorie goals for any stage. Just the REGULAR FOOD stage at which point I am to stay UNDER 1000 as long as I'm still losing/trying to reach my goal weight. There is so much more info I have and it's more detailed but that's the basics.

It's time. got a reaction from Creekimp13 in colonoscopy
I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy and since my previous one was " fair" they want me to the high volume two day prep. This is after my sleeve surgery and I can't see how I can drink 180 oz, in 24 hours. I normally have 64 oz in a day. My stomach just isn't that big anymore. I have a call into my doctor. What have others done for the two day prep, post surgery?

I wouldn't do a liquid diet while you are nursing. You need quality calories right now for your baby. Ask a dietitian for help.

It's time. got a reaction from BDL58 in Coronavirus: to mask or not to mask?
Please please always mask!! There are a lot of us that are high risk and they really don't know the long term effects of covid. Masking isn't a big deal and everyone, everywhere are wearing them so it's normal ... at least here in Michigan. We all buckle our seatbelts so what's the difference? We do it to protect ourselves and others !

It's time. got a reaction from RainbowBrite57 in Failing miserably
I was told to remind myself that it took years to gain all that weight, so why did I think it was going to go away with a surgery and a few months. It's going to take time and work to learn and change things. Not just what I'm eating but why I ate the way I did.

Something my doctor has said to me repeatedly - if you need help, ask for it. Don't do it alone. In the clinic I had my surgery, we had a therapy session with a psychologist who begged us to ask for help when it's needed. You're losing weight which is wonderful, but if you feel like something isn't right - ask for help. You've came so far it would be silly to let it go and not continue on your wonderful journey. You can do it, I can do it. Ups and downs, through it all, know that you are on a journey to a better life and better health. Sending hugs and love ❤️

My suggestion is always...go slow and sustainable. Tweek your diet with small changes that last and don't try to sprint. Quick weight loss schemes and super restriction can cause your metabolism to shut down and can lead to regain. Slow and steady wins the race.

Did you start maintenance naturally i.e. you reached a point that you weren’t losing any more, or did you &/or your team decide it was time for you to to stop losing & maintain so you increased your intake?
You may find it difficult to lose more if you had reached the point of equilibrium (your calories in equalled the calories your body burns) without changing what you were doing. To lose more you’ll have to reduce your calories to less than what you were consuming up to that time. If you stopped losing at say 1000 calories you will have to eat less than that &/or be more active to lose again. A reset may help in this situation. Remember, to maintain at a lower weight you will still have to consume less than you are eating now &/or be more active. It’s something to consider from a sustainability perspective - can you maintain this diet & activity level long term?
Of course if you deliberately started maintenance, losing more should be easier. You’d have to go back to what you were eating before you increased your food intake to maintain. If you had been losing at say 1000 calories you should only have to reduce your intake back to 1000 calories to start to lose again.
But I’m not an expert. Have a chat with your nutritionalist & your medical team. They’ll be your best source of information & guidance.
    Good luck.

our program discourages that since it puts people in a "diet" mindset - but if it works for you, then..??? They always tell us to just go back to tracking and following all the rules.

Also too you can do a search on here and you'll get tons of information
    Good luck 👍💓

I can't answer from my own personal experience because I started with a BMI over 60 and had gastric bypass. But I can offer you a link to a calculator that will tell you the average weight loss at 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years:
    https://mbsc.arbormetrix.com/Registry/public/calculator/uiCalculator/7?menuId=1013
Enter your data and click the disk icon on the top right of the page to see your expected weight loss. Note that the numbers they give are averages, so your personal results could be significantly higher or lower, but I still think it's useful information to get a ballpark estimate.

This is really interesting, thanks for posting it. It was super accurate for me at Year 1, I did weigh very close to the prediction. Year 2 is where I started to diverge, in reality I kept losing but the prediction was essentially that I would stay the same. I switched it to Lap RnY to see how it would affect the prediction - my projected weight loss went up by 15 pounds and my probability of complications went up 10% (to 20% total). With open RnY, the projected weight loss didn't change but the probability of any complications was 30%. I would love to see the model this is based on, it's pretty fascinating.

Welcome to the over 60 club! Because of the cost, I had to wait until Medicare kicked in. The surgery was very easy for me with not one post surgery food issue or pain. I'm down 55 pounds in 3 months and feel great. I'm realistic about loose skin and the shifting of weight at this age. I'll never have flat abs and I am more concerned about the loose skin on my face. I'm hoping some botox and fillers will help at some point. I have had to reduce contact with a few people who weren't supportive as they also have weight issues. I gladly give up a few of them to be able to sit on the floor comfortably with my young grandchildren. And I've been able to reduce my blood pressure medication in half and hope to stop it all together down the road. And I had the sleeve because I want to be able to enjoy some foods and a glass of wine at some point and don't need to be thin, but do want to be healthy and able to do more things that I enjoy that I can't do now with the extra weight.

Just over a year after my surgery I have reached my goal! I am officially half of my starting weight. I do think I'm going to try to lose another 15 lbs, but woohoo!
The not so good news, I've been sick for the last 10 days and that's the only reason I am down as much as I am in this two week period (9 lbs), and I fully expect a small bounce back once I feel better, but for now, I want to enjoy this moment as much as I can.

My eyes are only slightly less hooded than before, but l looked at childhood photos and confirmed that this is my normal eye shape
I am surprised to find that after WLS that I have more prominent cheekbones than I thought so I get to contour less with makeup.
