Slimmy-mommeee reacted to ChubRub in Scale and Non-scale victories yesterday!!
My scale victory is hitting 40lbs!!! I feel HUMAN again!
My non-scale victory is silly, but made me feel great! I went to Wawa yesterday and ordered a spinach salad from the kiosk. For those unfamiliar with Wawa, you order at a kiosk, and they call your number when your order is ready. They have hoagies, meatball sandwiches, chicken fingers, etc. There were about 8-10 people waiting for their food, when the guy behind the counter looked over at me, held up the bag and said "spinach salad?" Of all the people waiting, I looked like the type of person who would order a spinach salad! I felt like I weighed 120lbs, and practically skipped out the door!! LOL!!!

Slimmy-mommeee reacted to ayemeeb in Nicotine test
They want you to have good, healthy, oxygenated blood for your surgery. This will help with the healing process as well. They test for continue and most want you to be 4 weeks clean. I was reading in another forum where the lady said she kept flunking her drug test. Which she admitted she smokes weed. So a heads up to anyone engaging in that as well.

I'm glad I'm not on FB for this very reason. It can be quite the cesspool... I start my liquid diet on Sunday! But the 4 months of low carb has done wonders for my knees already...

Slimmy-mommeee reacted to Mello1 in March Surgery Dates
Hi fellow RNYs! My date is March 17th and I was approved in January. I probably could have had it in February, but they couldn't catch up with me. BCBS-Fed.

Slimmy-mommeee got a reaction from JRT Mom in Nicotine test
@JRT Mom you are absolutely correct. I had to quit smoking or they would not operate and it was extremely hard. The only thing that helped me is the cardiologist told me to go for a heart ultrasound. During the ultrasound I found out I had mild mitral valve regurgitation. It isn't life threatening but it was enough to help me quit. Now I'm on my preop liquid diet and it has been really difficult because after I quit smoking I used eating even more to alleviate stress. This entire process has been difficult. They found H.pylori so now I'm in antibiotics and I have to get an abdominal ultrasound tomorrow because my liver enzyme test numbers are really high. It seems like they find something new with every appointment! But as difficult as it has been I wouldn't trade it for the world! I count myself blessed to learn these about myself before they became really bad and I am doing something about it. Also I'm taking back control of my health and my life. It's been a rocky road but I'm sure I'll be happy on the other side of it.

Slimmy-mommeee got a reaction from Lily66 in March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
Yes 100%...I have to redirect my thoughts on an almost daily basis. I refuse to let worry or fear control me. I know this is the best decision for me and my children. I miss having the energy to be active with them. Thinking about all the physical things I'll be able to do again (hiking, volleyball, bike riding etc.) helps to keep my motivated.
And as much as I abhor this liquid diet I am starting to see my energy levels go up a little and it gets me so excited! Good Luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Hi Slimmy-mommeee! I catch your excitement girl, and you’re right, I do wake up SO happy each morning as if I’m going on vacation and that the time is NEAR! Woo-Hoo!! I know for me, fear is the negative tape of self talk that runs through my head at times until I TURN IT OFF, switch the channel to positive, heady Hooray! self talk. We’ve got this!
My pre-op calls for 2 Protein Shakes, and one lean meal of 2-4oz of Protein and a nonstarch veggie. Countdown is ON! And Thanks for your enthusiasm and contagious happy spirit!

Slimmy-mommeee reacted to SlimChickadee in BACK PAIN
Hello Family,
I woke up yesterday morning and had lower flank back pain bilaterally! First thing I thought was kidneys! I have been getting in at least 64 oz of Water not counting my coffee in the morning! Only thing I think is the guilty culprit is I tried a Coke Zero and thought how amazing, it took me a whole day to get it down, so I had another one the next day and the next! They are 16.9 oz bottles but again it takes me all day to get it down. I just sip sip sip, my urine is a little darker than usually and so I am thinking that is the problem because as I am typing this, I realized it took me all day to sip the coke zero, I really wasn't getting in my water like I needed to be! I may drink 2 bottles of water and my coffee! See, there talking it out (typing) made me realize yes that is the problem! I go to my regular physician tomorrow, so cannot wait to see what my blood work is going to be like! I continue to take my Multivitamins, Calcium and thiamine! I am officially 10 weeks postop, 222 lbs 37.5".
