Hi there!  My name is Amy, I'm 43 years old, single mom of 3 kids, B-18, G-15, and G-11.  We have 2 rescue dogs and a rabbit.  I work full time from home and I also attend school online.  I have been researching weight loss surgery for the past 4 years.  The first time that I was working towards my insurance paying for it I went all in and I was very excited and my BMI dropped to 39.5 and my insurance denied my because it needed to be 40 or higher!  I had worked 9 months on all my pre-insurance stuff and that really sucked.  I have gained 50 lbs over the past 3 years, I injured my foot and had to have surgery, they had to cut through my achilles tendon and told me it would take 6-12 months to recover.  They weren't kidding, it's been 2 1/2 years and my foot aches evey day, plus I have plantar fascitis. Unless you have dealt with that you have no idea how painful it is to walk.
I choose the mini gastric bypass surgery hoping that I won't have the malnutrition problems that some people develop after having the regular bypass.  I was told the sleeve wouldn't be ideal for me b/c I already suffer from GERD and they say that is the biggest complaint from the sleeve.  I really hope that I can do this.  I have such a love for all things carb.
I went to a seminar discussing weight loss surgery and the reasons for obesity in the USA.  It all made sense to me until the surgeon said that once you reach a certain weight that you will never be able to lose it on your own and keep it off.  That people are gaining weight from dieting.  They lose 15 lbs then put back on 20 lbs, and continue to yo-yo like this.  I thought that was BS and that she was only saying this to help "sale" the surgery. Well the last 4 years, and the previous decade or longer that is how I came to hit 300 lbs.  I would constantly be on one diet or another, give up gain the weight back and start over, yet starting at a heavier point each time.  I have spent so much money on all the diet pills, fads, foods, drinks, clubs, bets, and what have you and have gotten no where but to a point that I no longer recognize myself.
I am praying for no complications. That is what scares me the most is to do this and I end up in septic shock from a leaky intestine, or punctured lining, or whatever.
