Katheryn0303 got a reaction from ImsexyandIknowit in To sleeve or not to sleeve
Getting the sleeve was the best decision I've made in my life. And I'm only 6 weeks out from surgery. Down 26lbs. It was the easiest recovery I have ever had from a surgery. But I followed all the directions to a T that I received from my surgeon.

This WHOLE ENTIRE POST IRKS ME. Funny how, a person who has been Obese, has the audacity to get on WLS Forum to ridicule people on their journey. You are still in your honeymoon phase of your surgery and Good For You, that you lost your excess weight, and Good For You that you had the "mental stamina" to achieve your goals and Good For You that you are "healthy and skinny". But without your WLS surgery, would you be able to stand on your high horse and scream down to the people who were once in the same boat about their struggles? This Forum, from what I know, is to help people on their journey; good, bad or indifferent. I personally, like the authenticity of posts, where people are brave enough to admit their struggles and downfalls. At least, they are willing to admit their faults and seek help. You never know what post can help somebody with the same issue. Everyone that has gone through a WLS are well aware that this road is NOT easy. This community already receives, judgement, criticisms and ridicule from other people. It's just a hard pill to swallow when its one of our "own".

I'm sorry but I'm so sick of seeing posts of people obviously cheating or making excuses to cheat and then crying because they didn't lose weight...
I'm sorry but if you're not ready to commit to this program and you're not ready to change your life then you're not ready for surgery okay....
Stop lying to yourself and stop making excuses to cheat. Stop blaming everyone else for your failures.
I spent about 20 years living obese but I woke up one day and made the mental decision and commitment to change my life and I didn't let anyone or anything interfere with my decision.
10 months later and I'm half the size u was literally I've lost 159lbs and I'm skinny and I'm healthy and happy and loving life.
You cannot begin this program thinking you can just breeze through without actually making an effort okay.
I'm saying this because I want people to make sure they are ready before they commit to being operated on.
    It's a huge decision.
A huge commitment and mental stamina is needed to be successful okay.
I'm sorry but I'm over seeing all these people making you feel better for failing or cheating....
    Tighten up. Toughen up.

Hi Rjan☺️! We had surgery same day, 3/11/20 and trust me, I’ve had the thoughts and feelings you describe. It’s weird, because prior to WLS I could NOT lose 10lbs to save my life. It was a perpetual struggle. So in that sense, that we’ve lost 30-some pounds in only 11 weeks feels Wonderful! Amazing! Many people take a whole year to lose 30 lbs and even that is rare, so we’ve done it in 11 weeks!
For me, I believe it was a preconceived notion that weight would come off easier and faster💃. I also don’t think one can truly be aware of the changes we go through postop in such a totally different life (menu wise) from what we had known for so long, for basically what got us into trouble. We’ve been good postop, we’ve been diligent, SURELY we should be further along, right? That was my thinking till past several days and re-reading many veterans posts who talk about their slow loss as well, but they made it!🏆And in the big scheme of things does it matter if it takes an extra month to get to where we’re DETERMINED to Arrive?
My head plays games with me like “Oh, I think the loss is slowing down from first few weeks, Oh, I bet this will be it, I will only lose 2 lbs a month for the next year”. But that is my negative self talk playing tapes of futility and failure over and over in my head till it drags me down. NOT gonna give in to that!
It’s exciting to BELIEVE that if we KEEP FOLLOWING OUR PLAN WE WILL ACHIEVE THE GOALS WE DESIRE! I’m NOT letting the negative self talk hyjack my plans! Not, Not, Not Gonna do that!
    Hang in....We’ve GOT THIS!💝

I started lower than you. But like you, I'm almost 3 months out and only lost 30 lbs - 4 in the past month. Super frustrating! But we will just keep at it, eh?

🥰That’s another negative tape that plays in my mind, too! “You’re losing so much slower than these other people and you’re on your way to wasting this surgery”!!!
We’re not wasting a dog gone thing, Rjan!I 😅l love what Cheeseburgh shared with us above—-that around 5 months she really tightened things up, avoided processed foods, kicked up exercise, etc. And we’re not even 3 months in yet!
Our first month was just recovering, so we’re only 7 weeks beyond that! I’m really just now feeling more energy, pretty well figuring out what I can eat, what sets well with me and sustains the energy I need, which foods give me the most nutritional bang for the buck, and which don’t. Which foods/routines may be contributing to my Constipation issue😩! We’re getting better and better at this.👍.
So really? We’re just NOW getting our groove going!! We can take it from here, kick it up, smile at and love ourselves and log in here WHENEVER we need a pick me up!
We’re NOT gonna waste this surgery!! So not!!!💪💝😃👏

It just isn't moving like I thought. Surgery weight 266, current weight 237, almost 30lbs, about a week out from 3 months. It's going so slow 😭. So I've recently upped my Water and my cardio (doing 40 min a day 5 times a week) eating less than 800 a day, usually around 700, sometimes give or take. Always less than 25 net carbs for the day. I've only lost 3 lbs this month. Any advice? I'm really eating pretty right, 90% Protein the rest veggies, yogurt, string cheese, making good choices. Maybe calories need to go back to 500?

I lost very slowly also but I got there. After 5 months or so I really cleaned up my diet, same amount of calories 700-800 range. I cut back on processed foods and limited any starchy type carbs. I also joined a gym and started working out 5 days a week and that really helped. It was still slower than most people and it got frustrating at times.

Everyone is different been said above. But you may want to spend just a little money and get a Nutritionist to help mix up your diet. You body is sayin F@#ck No i want to keep it, You are saying Nope gotta go!
So let the battle begin - I would mix up the Carbs and calories different each week. I did it and it really worked, I had a Nutra person to lead me.
Sunday - Sunday next week - Go real low calories, 900 or less, As much Water as you can, Up your cabs 10%
Sunday - Sunday following week - 1100 calories mostly veggies but Higher Protein - lower water
Sunday - Sunday 3 rd week - Intermingling fasting, All protein low calories Low carbs
You get the point you are changing your calories, carbs and Proteins each week to trick your body into burning, The fasting was a key for me broke everything free
Good luck stay focused you will win this battle

It sounds like you are doing everything right and just need to say the course. I will say that your diet is far more important than exercise for your weight loss, and I don't think you need to be terribly concerned about exercising daily if you are doing the food right.
My weight off came of very quickly, which was wonderful at the time. I reached goal weight in about six months and found it difficult to stop losing weight, which was truly bizarre. As a result, I had a very tough time transitioning to maintenance. Slow and steady wins the race!

Everyone loses at a different pace and to be honest... last month I had a two week stall and then another one that lasted a week so I lost about the same last month (about 3 or 4 pounds). But overall since surgery I've lost 66 pounds in 4 months. My diet varies day to day but on average I get between 600-800 calories, which according to my nutritionist is normal for four months post op. Or even three months for that matter. You've lost 30 pounds in 3 months. That's a success in my book!
Oddly enough the strangest things have made me feel successful even when I was really down about the stalls. I went to the ER last week and could fit into a regular gown (I always had to request the plus sized ones because the regular ones wouldn't fit my arms and they wouldn't even cover HALF of me!) I almost cried lol. And for the first time since I was a TEENAGER (I'm 32) the blood pressure cuff was able to go on my upper arm! It always had to be on my forearm before! All I'm saying is not to stress yourself out! My primary said if you stress about your weight it actually comes off slower because stress causes hormones that slow your weight loss. So look at the little successes and Celebrate them, but try not to focus on the little things. Heck, maybe you're putting muscle on as you lose fat? Muscle weighs more than fat so... the scale wouldn't exactly be an accurate accessment.

That is so exciting!! It's almost here! Best of luck to you, you will do great! Can't wait to hear about your success! I am doing much better, I took in all the advice I was given and had a nice stern self talk, lol. Had to remind myself that this is just food, it isn't going to control me anymore, I either want this or I don't. So I regrouped, reprepared and refocused. This journey is truly a journey, as much as you try and prepare I guess you never really are until you are walking thru it. Thanks for checking up! Can't wait to see your journey. You'll do great! Stay in touch.

Very helpful, informative book for those of us who like to read, hi-light, underline and review. Dr. Matthew Weiner, M.D., bariatric surgeon explains one surgery vs. another including revisions, why some lose faster than others, why some are more successful over time than others. Not preachy nor judgmental in any way, just factual. Explains how our bodies go through hormonal changes post-op to establish a new metabolic set point. 150 pages, easy read in one sitting.
$11.99 on Amazon for paperback. Well worth it!

Also clothes! I keep at least one item from my pre-surgery days, and a selection of other items that I as I am able to fit into them. When I feel that nothing is changing, I line them up, and have a look at the difference. It gives me encouragement, seeing clear evidence that my body is truly changing! I also have certain "wish" outfits, that are still too small, but every couple of weeks I try them on anyway, and I can see that I am getting closer to having them fit, and that also gives me encouragement
