  1. Good question. It will be interesting to see all the responses to this one. I have tried to figure this out myself. Good luck.
  2. I am 51 and have also lost a kidney due to cancer. I had the band August 16th in hopes of getting off of some of my medicine. I am happy with the band and would do it again. I had my second fill on the 16th of last month and at that point I had lost 17 pounds. I go next Thursday for my third and I think I have lost another 6 or so. I know it will go a little faster after I get restriction. I have not been back to my pcp yet to see if it is time to get off of any of my medications yet. I have a granddaughter and I want to be able to go and do things with her more. My knees are very bad and I hope they improve as I it goes. I hope this helps you. The surgery was almost like a drive-thru surgery. It was so easy and I left the hospital 2 hours after surgery.
  3. Sorry to hear you are having spasms. I had spasms after my surgery and they ended after about the 9th day. My doctor told me I had a lot of swelling and that caused me to feel so bad and the spasms. Hope yours stops soon too.
  4. Do you have any idea how much it costs for the tummy tuck and to have the bat wings removed? Does insurance cover any of this? Just curious how this all works. Thanks and good luck
  5. Thanks a bunch. I have been wanting to learn to use photoshop myself. Thanks again.
  6. I like the way you print your name in the green and brown. Can you tell me how to do it. Thanks:rolleyes2:
  7. I was banded July 16th and I became so sick on the 7th day that my husband took me back to the doctor. He said it was swelling. It takes about seven days for everything to swell and about seven for the swelling to go down. I had spasms so bad I could not sleep because it would keep waking me up. He knew what he was talking about. He gave me phenagan and I went to sleep to wake up to the worst smell in my life. My husband had cooked himself dinner and had to spray the house because it made me so sick. That night about 12:00 everything got better and by the next day I was much better and then the next was pretty much a normal day. I had the gas too but it did not last but one day. I hope all gets better for all of you too. Now I am just hungry. Can't wait to get a fill. I did not think I would ever want to be tight again after being so sick but I am ready for a little of it. lol
  8. Yes I too would do it all over again. I was very sick a week after my surgery because I had lots of swelling which not everybody has. I could hardly hold my head up when my husband took me back to the doctor and the nurse said I promise this is going to go away. I told her I was not good for publicity in the lobby but I was an unusual case. I had a kidney removed in 2002 and had scar tissue that had to be removed which probably caused some of my swelling. My problem now is that I have no restriction and just days ago could not hold down two sips of water. Today I felt like I could eat everything. But I am still so excited and can't wait for a fill to get some of that restriction back. Yes I would do it all over again just because I know what good is yet to come. Hang in there. You will be ahead of lots of us. We wait until we already had health problems where you can beat that.
  9. I was banded on July 16th. I too heard all the good things and was not prepared for what it could be like. Well my luck I had the what it could be like. I was banded on Wednesday. Friday I started the esophagus spasms that hurt really bad and my doctor called in something to calm my stomach. By the next Tuesday I went for my office visit and they even felt that maybe there was some air in the band causing me to have some retention that I was not to have yet. Tried to inject and draw out but nothng came out. On Thursday my husband took me back and I saw the doctor. He said some people have swelling and some have lots more. Seven days for everything to swell up which makes the band very tight and seven days then for the swelling to go down. Around 11:00 that night I finally got relief and started coming around. All is better until I drank something really cold today and gas is back under my shoulder and spasms or kinda coming back. Had two stressful days and I think after a day or so of rest things will finally get to where it is suppose to be. By the way 20 1/2 pounds lost from beg. of 2 week pre-opt to Thursday. I don't know anybody that had this much trouble with swelling. My friend had lap band the day before and has been working and shopping everyday since. Hang in there.
  10. Glad to hear all are doing well after surgery. I am coming around but still hurt in the upper stomach and esophagus. Don't know what that is but hope it gets better soon. Incisions don't hurt at all. I was so swollen that my doctor had to get me some meds to calm my stomach down but I am still uncomfortable. Thanks for all the prayers and will be back in a couple of days
  11. plevy, Thank you for the prayers. My two week liquid diet went well until I got to the clear liquids today. Water, jello, popcicle. Tried chicken broth and made me sick. Good Luck to you and my prayers are with you too. I would love to get together sometime. Take care and we'll talk soon.
  12. emily111, congrats that the 16th is finally here. Mine is the 16th too and I can't wait. Glad the clear liquid is over. lol Will remember you in my prayers too. Lets get back in touch after surgery. Good Luck.
  13. plevy, isn't it exciting the closer it gets. I talked with virginiaann earlier and she is doing great but I'm sure you will hear from her soon. I did well on the two week diet but this clear liquids did not do good for me. Hope all goes well Thursday and you are in my prayers.
