I am so glad to know that you are getting banded the same time I am. We do need to keep in touch. I'm sure we'll have a lot of questions for each other. Good luck to you. I'll be waiting to hear from you.

I am set for my first consultation with Dr. Clark Warden with Surgical Specialists in Metairie on July 16th. Can anyone tell me what are their procedures meaning what do they do on the first consultation then how long after do you have different tests done and how long after is the surgery date?

During my first visit they assess you medically and decide what all u need to do I took the psychological test while there and only had to get clearance from my primary md and bloodwork done. It also depends if your ins pays u may have other things to do like a sleep apnea. It took me about two months to get my date I went to a couple of classes too goodluck

I am going to be self pay so thankfully I won't have to go through as much pre-op stuff.

They told me something about 3-4 weeks after the first consultation you should have a date scheduled, unless I misunderstood what they were saying.

I was banded in September 2007 by Dr. Lavin. I am a self pay.

At my first consultation, I filled out paperwork and talked to Chris, the nurse practitioner. She gave me "homework" which meant setting up appointments to have bloodwork and a sleep study done. Once those results are in, your patient liason will contact you to set up a date for surgery. You will have to go for a pre-op visit. My surgery was done at Fairway Medical Center and went very smoothly. It was about a month or so from my first consult to the surgery date. What delayed it was the timing of the appointments for the bloodwork and the sleep study.

Hi Virginiaann--

Was so glad to meet you today. All I have left is to meet my Doctor Tuesday (the day you have your surgery). I'll be saying some prayers for you. Will be in touch after my surgery Thursday. Good luck to all you other bandsters out there. Maybe one day we can all get together after we loose all this weight. I feel we all have something in common, no matter what led us to be banded. Keep in touch.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
