1. Fast Hair Loss & Slow Weight Loss I feel so far behind most of y'all posting on here. I'm only down about 60 lbs from my high, less than 40 lbs post-op. I'm aiming for 100g protein per day, 900 cal total. And my hair is falling out like crazy, which I would understand if I was dropping weight quickly. I haven't stopped any of my medications yet either. Have your surgeons been sending you in for lab work frequently?
2. I could have written this post. I'm in the same position, except my sleeve was 7/30. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. I'm still taking Omeprazole 40mg a day because my surgeon puts VSG patients on it for a month after surgery, but we're all hopeful I can stop taking it soon. SG 7/30/2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 266
3. I tried the BariMelts multi and calcium, and I immediately HATED them. I hope they work out better for you. SG 7/30/2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 266
4. Y'all have convinced me to try straws again. Before surgery, I would drink around 120oz water per day; after, I've been struggling to get 64oz and it's because I'm not constantly sipping water through my straw all day. It's much easier to just take a pull on a straw when I'm doing something else vs. opening a bottle and/or tilting my head back to take in drink. SG 7/30/2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 266
5. I'm on Omeprazole and still feeling this "hunger" constantly. SG 7/30/2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 266
6. Your plan sounds way better than mine! SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
7. Thanks for the reply, Pckeys. I started a Keto diet July 9th so I'm surprised it took so long to drop, based on your explanation. Anyway, it was high again yesterday so I guess I just need to be patient. SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
8. I'm in this stage right now! I would like answers too. I feel so hungry, and it's completely not what I expected. SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
9. I feel super hungry too, which I didn't expect because the surgeon told me that they were removing the portion of my stomach that made me feel hungry. One of the main reasons I had surgery was so I wouldn't feel hungry all the time. Why is my stomach still growling? SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
10. Prior to surgery, my Omron blood pressure readings were consistently in the "Hypertension Stage 2" category. Yesterday, my BP was down to "Elevated" and today it says "Normal." Is that for real? How can I see such a drastic change when I haven't lost weight yet? SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
11. Wow, you look amazing!
12. Wow, I had gastric sleeve yesterday, and my post-op diet is clear liquids for 2 weeks, all liquids for two weeks, then pureed foods for 2 weeks. Yogurt is included in the all liquids section, and cottage cheese doesn't come in until the pureed phase at week 5. Pre Op - Post Op Handout Level 1.pdf
13. OMG this is totally going to be one of my goals! I'm staying in a hotel right now and the towel only covers my back OR front. SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
14. I just had my sleeve yesterday! I'm finding it a little difficult to sleep this first night post-op, but it might be more about the hotel bed than the surgery. SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
15. This is interesting to me. Due to COVID, almost all of my interaction with my doctor's office has been remote. The only time I went into the office was for my x-ray; I didn't get to use a special scale. Now I want to look into this. But if you have low muscle mass before surgery and you build that up via exercise afterward, does that actually makes your goal weight a moving target? SG 7/30/2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
16. I'm also 5'5" and these are my goals as well - 150 for sure, 130 if I can take it. Or, if I recall correctly, that would be about size 8-12. SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270
17. I had my gastric sleeve this morning! Everything went well, and I've left the hospital. Still nervous about everything, but glad it's done!
18. I got a call from my surgeon's office today saying they have to reschedule. ☹️ Fortunately it's only a one-week postponement (to July 30), but that means I have three weeks of pre-op diet. I'm so hungry right now. I really just want to tear into a plate of carbs. I'm not even that picky, pretty much any carbs would do. ???????????
19. I'm in Texas, and I think my surgery will have to be postponed (Gov cancelled elective surgeries for the area I'm in), but my doctor won't confirm that yet. I started my pre-op liquid diet Thursday and I feel like I might just fall apart if I go through this for two weeks only to be told that my surgery is off, when I could have been told that on day 2. How long can you safely stay in ketosis?
20. This actually gives me so much hope. I have all these great shoes in a size 7N, but the past few years my feet have grown to a size 8. I've been thinking about selling/donating them, but maybe I should wait a while after my surgery to see what happens?
21. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I just hope I'm prepared (as in, that I have enough stuff). I'm super worried about sticking to it, esp. the no caffeine part.
22. Texas hasn't banned all elective surgeries again, right now it's just 8 counties (Bexar, Dallas, Harris, Travis, Cameron, Hidalgo, Nueces and Webb). My doctor is in Travis but the hospital is in Williamson, so I'm currently still in for July 23 (fingers crossed, I think). I do worry about getting COVID while I'm at the hospital though.
23. So I thought my July 23 surgery would be cancelled because Travis County, Texas, where my doctor's office is located, cannot have elective surgeries due to COVID. It turns out my hospital is in Williamson County, so I'm still on... but the governor is adding counties to the elective surgery ban as their hospital beds near capacity. Williamson County borders Travis County, so I'm proceeding as usual for now but my surgery might get cancelled at any time. I'm supposed to start my pre-op diet in a week.
24. I was scheduled for July 23, but my governor just banned elective surgeries again. Now I have no idea when I'll be able to reschedule. I certainly don't want to be in a hospital with a bunch of COVID-19 patients, so I'm not really complaining. We shouldn't have opened as fast as we did. Just got my hopes up prematurely. ?
25. Did you have any luck finding a surgeon in Austin?
