Nerves are perfectly normal, you've got this!! I found this guy's YouTube channel when I was preparing myself for my own surgery, and out of the VSG channels I've seen, his is my favorite and super accurate with no b.s... I'll post the link for one of his videos but the channel is called Fighting 400, he details everything from pre op diet to Vitamins to the surgery and recovery. Best wishes

...its funny because when I was bigger, I thought I was smaller than I really was. Now that I’m smaller, I think I am bigger than I really am....

Another fun condiment - Wasabi Sauce. I initially got it for ahi tuna, but now I put it on everything!

They have a lot of good options and their produce is usually cheaper than other stores, at least in my area. Also, their Protein Powder is pretty decent for 170 calories a serving and 30g of Protein.

I'm really enjoying the Earth Grown Veggie Burgers from Aldi's (they come in Thai, Asian, and Black Bean Chipotle). I also love, love, love Beyond Burgers. I put all on Brownberry Sandwich Thins or the Aldi's equivalent and make up sauces for them (since the only one I put ketchup on is the Beyond Burger. It seems wrong on the others)
I also love Aldi's Fit & Active 20-calorie bars (see pic below)
Light & Fit Creme Brulee (one of their seasonal flavors, so it's not always available) is a favorite, too.

oikos triple 0 baybel polly-o string cheese cashews sugar free pudding mix Trader Joe's salmon patties (Costco makes good salmon burgers, but I am not a member) riced cauliflower canned tuna Yasso bars (these are a treat plus they have 6g of protein) I am still trying new foods, but these have been regulars on my grocery list post-op. I also have all kinds of dry Beans and seem to be tolerating them well. I just started eating chicken and want to start buying tenderloins or possibly drums since they seem to be perfectly portioned.

    Great thread idea!
Here are a couple I like a lot.
Chili Lime chicken Burgers from Trader Joe‘s
Frontera Grill marinade/sauces are a great way to add a ton of flavor with minimal calories to lean Proteins like pork, chicken and fish/shellfish.

Just crack an egg. I could prepare the ingredients myself but this is great for when I’m lazy. I use an egg white instead of a whole egg.

Thought it might be fun to get some recommendations for new grocery items to add to my shopping list. Spices, grab n go items, anything really.

I’ll add a couple of my new faves below!

It was my first surgery too, but I was eerily calm as a cucumber. It's not that bad. The first few days are a little rough, but it gets easier each day. I am SO happy I had my surgery -- I feel so much better. I've lost 40 lbs in 3 months..... Just 17 more lbs and I will be at my goal.
You got this. Do not worry. Just think about how much your life will change for the better once you have it done. I feel on top of the world right now. So happy and content. You will too!
You will do great! Good luck and keep us updated on how it goes for you.

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well! I just wanted to check in and share a personal victory of mine! I have officially made it into the "healthy weight" BMI bracket for the first time in... well pretty much ever! [emoji23] I do need to still work on getting enough Protein and Water (sometimes I just simply forget to drink) but overall I feel much much better than I did before my sleeve, and I'm pretty pumped about fitting into a medium again!! Anyhow, I hope you're all having a great summer!

    Sore and hurts when I
Stand. First day had Isopure but did not get all my fluids in as I slept all day.
Going to discharge me so they gave me step 3 full liquid. No nausea no vomiting. So get to go home this afternoon.

Currently awaiting approval through insurance for VSG. As I get closer, I get more nervous. This will be my first surgery and first time going under the gas being put out. Other than that, I am just trying to gain additional insight on how to prepare and what is popular post op such as Vitamins and getting in those grams of Protein immediately after surgery.

Well I am at 7 months out from my surgery now. I think I am on track as I just passed 80 pounds lost mark. hair is starting to thin 🥺 so guess I am going to be one of the stats of people who lost hair. I was hoping it wasn't going to be me, but what else can I do.
My birthday is coming up and I am excited but also it's weird 2020 so not having a big party like normal. All partying will be virtual via zoom.
One thing that has also happened is the shorts I bought 2 months ago at beginning of June are very baggy now and can almost just fall down by themselves- so I've had a super productive summer. Dang that's just crazy. Thrift stores around here aren't open and I wish they were so I could just shop for some properly fitting clothes in the interim sizes.
I've been doing Yoga for the past 13 days every day, it's a 10 minute morning yoga challenge I found on Youtube and I really feel like I'm getting stronger by adding it to my workout routine. I feel like I am also stretching and becoming way more limber than before.
What's new with everyone? How are things going in your journey? Got any new exercise routines you're doing, any new activities?

    I won't miss:
chafing thighs and other bits, being self conscious everywhere I go, worrying if I'll be able to ride amusement park rides with my son, not being able to physically keep up with my son, being embarrassed to run into people from the past... Honestly I think I could go on and on lol

I had five incisions with each of my surgeries. My sleeve was nine years ago and you can't see the scars unless you know where to look. My RNY was seven weeks ago and they are browny-pink and two are an inch long, on either side of my belly button, two are about half an inch long on either side of my waist, and one, where the drain was removed, is on my left side just under my rib cage. There are internal sutures that you can't see but most surgeons use a surgical glue called Dermabond to close the skin. My glue peeled up along the edges and flaked off a little bit at a time but was all gone by three weeks post op. Healing internally takes about six weeks. My doctor did not want me to lift anything over 15 lbs until then so that the internal staples and sutures were tightly knit together. I was not in very much pain with the sleeve--by the third day after surgery I was not taking any opioid painkillers. With the bypass there was more pain, I took oxycontin for about a week postop, but I also had a hernia repair and a myotomy, so that might have made the pain worse. The scars are nothing, the pain is only for a short time. You'll do great!

If you follow the instructions of your surgeon you will lose weight. The only issue I had is that they didn't say don't worry the first 2 weeks you will gradually start, I sipped Protein Drinks all day and if I got 3 down that was my Protein needs. You have to sip all day. But I'm absolutely thrilled with my results and miss absolutely nothing about my former life.
