  1. Thats great... I really would like to lose at a faster rate of 1 pound per week. But, I take a loss or a gain anyday!
  2. Hi- I was banded on June 25, 2012 and today I weigh 225 pounds. I started at 248 at the 1st doctor's apt and the day of surgery 246. So I am down a total of 23 pounds. Last year, I lost 42 pounds and regained 23 pounds - I guess I am right back where I was last year! How much fluid do you currently have inside your band? Today I had my 3rd fill and I am at 6.7cc. 4. Hi- My surgery is on Monday. I am on day 11 of the liquid phase of the diet drinking Optifast 6 time per day. I only a, down 4 pounds and feeling said b/c others have taken 10-15 pounds off per my doctor's nurse said. Has anyone else not taken off so much weight during the 14 day liquid presurgery part?
  5. Hi- I would like to ask if anyone did not lose a large amount of weight during the 14 presurgery liquid diet. I onky have 4 more days before my surgery and only down 4 pounds after 11 days on the liquid phase. I am concerned that my liver won't be smaller in size in order for my doctor to install the band. I spoke with his nurse about only taking 4 pounds off and she told me that typically people lose on average 10-15 pounds on the presurgery diet. Should I be concerned or is this a sign that I will have trouble losing weight after having the band due to being older (53yrs) and slow metabolism?

    Easter 2012 40lbs down

I would love to wear a white/light colored suit again. It seems that my constant color I wear is BLACK.... I had lost 42 pounds as of last year when I started to do my 6 month diet plan for insurance requirements. I needed to see my doctor for 6 apts. and only followed through for 4 apts because my husband convienced me that I could lose the weight on my own. Well- I haven't.... I have regained 20 of the 42 lost. I currently weight 244 pounds. I have been set at this weight now for 4 months. I had my gall bladder removed this past Feb.

Great Photo! Did you have any promblems after the procedure? I have a girl friend at work who had the lap band done on Feb. 14th, and she having concerns/problem. She had to have a redo due to her portal port twisted and now she taking off from work because of constantr upset stomach. Myself and another older lady at work plans to have our lap band procedure done this coming Fall. I am somewhat afraid after hearing about my younger girlfriend Ashley's problem.
  13. Hi- I am new the site and looking for support to ask my concerns and questions about the lap band procedure. I am 52 yrs old and need to lose 120 pounds per medical charts, my would love to lose 100 pounds to feel healthy again. I have been reading about the procedure and have in the past attended the meeting at a local hospital 2 yrs ago- but still unsure. I guess I am afraid of if I would not be able to eat 'normal' food again after the surgery and possible food blockage. Can anyone inspire and clam me down about my concerns. Mary

Been over weight all my life

Hi! I just found out that my husband's insurance will pay for me to get the lap-band surgery, but I a few problems to face first. They want me to be on a Dr. monitored weight program for 6 months plus get a phyirist eval before allowing the surgery. I discussed it with my MD and he wrote a order for me to joing a weight loss program like weight watchers [like I haven't tried that before...]. So I do it until December, but I just talked to the physists and he thinks I need to go meds for mood swings, he stated that I do not have all the signs of being bipolar. He also said that at this time he would not give me a clean bill of health for the surgery. I asked him when, and all he said we'll have to see. I see him in 30 days, and I plan to rediscuss my plans for the surgery around Christmas when I turn 50 years old. I hope it works out. I so happy for you in regards to your progress. Let me know how you are doing. I can be contacted at makopp58@aol.com Mary
