  1. Thats great... I really would like to lose at a faster rate of 1 pound per week. But, I take a loss or a gain anyday!
  2. Hi- I was banded on June 25, 2012 and today I weigh 225 pounds. I started at 248 at the 1st doctor's apt and the day of surgery 246. So I am down a total of 23 pounds. Last year, I lost 42 pounds and regained 23 pounds - I guess I am right back where I was last year! How much fluid do you currently have inside your band? Today I had my 3rd fill and I am at 6.7cc. 3. Hi- My surgery is on Monday. I am on day 11 of the liquid phase of the diet drinking Optifast 6 time per day. I only a, down 4 pounds and feeling said b/c others have taken 10-15 pounds off per my doctor's nurse said. Has anyone else not taken off so much weight during the 14 day liquid presurgery part?
  4. Hi- I would like to ask if anyone did not lose a large amount of weight during the 14 presurgery liquid diet. I onky have 4 more days before my surgery and only down 4 pounds after 11 days on the liquid phase. I am concerned that my liver won't be smaller in size in order for my doctor to install the band. I spoke with his nurse about only taking 4 pounds off and she told me that typically people lose on average 10-15 pounds on the presurgery diet. Should I be concerned or is this a sign that I will have trouble losing weight after having the band due to being older (53yrs) and slow metabolism?

  7. Hi- I am new the site and looking for support to ask my concerns and questions about the lap band procedure. I am 52 yrs old and need to lose 120 pounds per medical charts, my would love to lose 100 pounds to feel healthy again. I have been reading about the procedure and have in the past attended the meeting at a local hospital 2 yrs ago- but still unsure. I guess I am afraid of if I would not be able to eat 'normal' food again after the surgery and possible food blockage. Can anyone inspire and clam me down about my concerns. Mary
  8. Hi! I just found out that my husband's insurance will pay for me to get the lap-band surgery, but I a few problems to face first. They want me to be on a Dr. monitored weight program for 6 months plus get a phyirist eval before allowing the surgery. I discussed it with my MD and he wrote a order for me to joing a weight loss program like weight watchers [like I haven't tried that before...]. So I do it until December, but I just talked to the physists and he thinks I need to go meds for mood swings, he stated that I do not have all the signs of being bipolar. He also said that at this time he would not give me a clean bill of health for the surgery. I asked him when, and all he said we'll have to see. I see him in 30 days, and I plan to rediscuss my plans for the surgery around Christmas when I turn 50 years old. I hope it works out. I so happy for you in regards to your progress. Let me know how you are doing. I can be contacted at makopp58@aol.com Mary
