LOL Oh Lort! Last time we had one of the Lose/Loose Rants it turned into a complete shambolic bust-up that was very entertaining. So I'm gonna put my butt in this chair with my loose-ass pants and enjoy the really big shew!!!

LOSE........what we hope happens to our fat. We want to lose it.
LOOSE.....how our clothes fit after we LOSE some weight. My pants are loose. The neighbor's dog is loose. The only way I could loose fat, is if I thew a can of Crisco out the door...and I'm guessing it would still be pretty contained as it isn't very ambulatory.

I know...I know...spelling isn't an indication of intelligence. It's not a big deal. We all make a million spelling errors. Myself included.
    Just ranting.
    Lose....when something is gone.
    Loose...your butt with diarrhea.
    Lose....when you don't win.
Loose...when you're friendlier in the sack than you oughtta be.
    Lose....your car keys.
    Loose....your kid's baby teeth.

I'm sorry. Thank you. I feel better.

I'm a gay man who agrees with AZHiker. The advice and support I've received here have been invaluable. I don't consider my sexual orientation at all relevant to those discussions.
Two points of disagreement with AZHiker: I do think that age and gender can be relevant to our weight loss journeys. Men tend to lose weight differently (and more quickly) than women, and older people also face different challenges than younger ones. (I had surgery at age 59.)

I've not posted in a while but
People on the Autism spectrum also have higher rates of issues with food and weight and metabolism and digestive disorders. But I don't think I'd be on a forum specific to Autism even though I am on the spectrum. I also live with lifelong chronic illness and disability, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, many medical conditions including pcos, adult onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia ...
is it necessary to have a forum specific to these or to just focus the weight loss journey itself? Men and women might have some different caloric and Protein needs and also based on age and current weight (example calculating protein intake based on weight)
but otherwise the weight loss journey itself is similar for everyone. Unless it's specific medical conditions for example I literally am unable to exercise without causing physical symptoms and damage. So I have to adapt how I do things. But we all still share a similar path.
I answer only because you seem to think that if someone says why, that somehow means they feel threatened or upset by your question.
In the grand scheme of things it's just not a big part of the weight loss journey. The subject isn't taboo it can be discussed any time. But doesn't play much of a role in why we are here.

ksgypsy reacted to California Guy in Reached my goal weight today! Before and after photos.
Seven months after a Duodenal switch revision surgery I reached my goal weight of 190 lbs. That's 110 lbs. down from 300 at the beginning of 2020. I've adjusted well to my daily nutrition plan and am exercising every day.

13 days out from my surgery, have had ups and downs with the biggest challenge be 1) energy and 2) hunger at the end of the day. I've fixed the hunger by making sure I'm sticking to high Protein liquids. Here are some tips and tricks I've learned to help me keep moving forward:
    Food tips:
Perfect treat: Pre-mixed Premier Protein, vanilla. Warm in microwave then sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Such a treat, and fulfilling!
Making sure to get my Protein Drinks in late in the day so I don't have that late night hunger.
I've been using Gatorade Zero to fill in between meals, since plain Water is hard on my stomach.
I tried a recipe from a cookbook, but it really grossed me out - using plain greek yogurt, mixing it up with my chocolate whey protein. Gagged! That memory has kept me going on liquids alone.
Use Bone Broth as a meal, adding my own salt and spices, nice an warm, and comforting.
    Exercise Tips:
Set little goals, and then if you can keep going, keep going. If you need to take a break in between, take a small break.
Listen to your body, and if you need to rest, or take a break in between, do it!
For me, I started with walking laps around my pool / patio at night, and use my FitBit to keep me motivated. One day I had 10 laps, then I challenged myself to do 5 more, then 5 more, etc. Started at 5,000 steps then challenged myself each day until I got up to 12,000. However, if I didn't have the energy, I listened to my body and didn't push it.
After I was comfortable walking, I started on my Bowflex Max 5 - not at the interval training level, but just at my own pace. First days were hard. I skipped two days, but then hopped up on it again and found I was able to go several additional minutes without needing a break. Just like any exercise, keep your water or Gatorade Zero or other non-calorie hydration close by, small sips are all you need.
    Setbacks:
Some days the hunger was really strong - I found myself tasting Kosher salt & spices in between meals, which kicked any feelings of being deprived to the curb. (I don't know if this is allowed, or healthy - but just a taste did the trick). I've gotten over those cravings from the first week.
After losing 12 pounds the first week, I stalled for about 2 days. I was discouraged, but kept moving and the weight loss kicked in quickly. I am now down 16 pounds since 12 days since my surgery.
Keeping my energy levels high enough to put in the walking and/or Bowflex. I have to push myself at times, but I do it and feel better after knowing that I am increasing my metabolism and strength with each cycle. I also let myself rest when I need.
Hope sharing this helps as you approach your post-surgery healing and journey.

I cannot use whey based Proteins, and for the life of me I cannot remember the brand of the pea based, unsweetened, unflavored one I use for Soups. I got it at Sprouts. Sprouts also has some in the bulk food section and I've used that just fine, also.

You look great! I do understand where you're coming from though. We see ourselves in the mirror day in and day out so we don't see the weight loss the same as the people around us do. Often times when I look in the mirror, I see myself a few sizes larger than I am. I'm in a large in shirts and 14 in pants, but what I see in the mirror is someone who is at least a 2x in shirts and a 20 in pants. So my mind and reality mess with me. It's funny though that when I pass shop windows as I'm walking into the store or my reflection in something while I'm shopping I sometimes see this much smaller person that everyone else see's but in mirrors at home I still see that bigger version of myself. Body dysmorphia is hard and it really messes with your mind and your self confidence.

You look ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! You look slender, fit, and toned.
But I 100% understand where you're coming from. In the past, I lost a lot of weight with WW and was still horrified to have my picture taken. I look back on those pictures now and I don't know what I was thinking. I looked great! I'm sure others around me also thought so too. But there's still a part of us that just can't see what others are seeing. We walk around with those fat goggles on and judge ourselves to death, not letting ourselves enjoy a single victory. I learned from that experience, though. I've learned that my self-perception will be faulty, so I should just trust how good I feel inside and what my wonderful body can do, and ignore the self-sabotaging little voice I hear when looking in the mirror. Because that little voice lies.

Nope, you did not gain a pound! It takes 3500 excess calories to gain a pound, and I’m 100% sure you did not eat that much a week after surgery.
It’s completely normal for your weight to fluctuate by a couple of pounds. Even over the course of a single day, your weight can fluctuate by more than a pound, depending on the time of day, the timing with respect to eating and going to the bathroom, salt intake (which can make you retain water), etc. A lot of people recommend only weighing yourself once per week so you don’t see those little day-to-day fluctuations.
Mashed potatoes are not the best thing to eat because they’re high in carbs and low in Protein, but a lot of programs allow them in the puréed stage (you might want to mix in some unflavored Protein Powder to add some protein). Is a deviled egg really allowed in the puréed stage? At this point, the concern is not about stretching your stomach so much as tearing the sutures that are holding your stomach together. It’s really important to follow your surgeon’s instructions to allow your stomach to heal properly.

Happened to me too. I was back in the hospital for uncontrolled leaking through the drain when it started. Lasted a few days. Would have been good to know this was a possibility.... On the BM/TMI front- I experienced daily diarrhea for the first month. Likely exacerbated by IV/pill antibiotics for infection.

Hey guys just venting. I have been approved for a revision to gastric bypass from VSG due to severe GERD and just found out I have COVID. I'm super disappointed. There will be three weeks in between from when I tested positive to my surgery date and I've researched that people can continue to test positive even though they are no longer infectious. I'm sure my doctor's office will reschedule I'm just sad this happened. Not much I can do about it now. COVID sucks.

Its such an amazing feeling knowing that this surgery was the correct decision and even though at times I wish I could take a big bite of something super satisfying or grab a cold soda this is a much better feeling!!!
I have been able to get rid of so many medications in a month its just plain crazy!!!! What a ride folks what a ride

    Hi everyone,
So for Christmas, I was planning to take the same approach I did for Thanksgiving: take one day off and let myself taste all the traditional food and then go right back to my plan the next day. However, for the last few days I have suddenly been dropping weight, even though I am not doing anything different. My goal weight was 130 but I'd love to get down to 125 so my maintenance window could be 125-130 instead of 130-135. So I think since I'm rolling right now, I'm going to stick to plan over Christmas. I'll put my Christmas plate in the freezer and have it in a couple of weeks if I hit 125. I don't know how long this window of weight loss will last, so I want to ride it while I can. 😂 The food will be just as good when I thaw it out and heat it up in a week or two, LOL.
