Hey guys, There we go again.... just when I thought we couldn't go any further.... HEAD NEWS IN MSN... Australian Santa Claus' have been told NOT to say ho ho ho, as it may offend women. ok... Now they want them to say ha ha ha instead.... IMO, this is extremism on politically correctness.... The kids don't even know what a "ho", if used in a different way is... The very little ones don't even know the Santa concept yet... I don't think this has to do with being religious or not either.... it's just the whole point of it that I personally find ridiculous... I mean, which women are going to be offended? those who consider themselves "ho"??? what woman consider herself a "ho"?? I know is a vulgar ugly word and personaly I wish nobody used it.... but what the heck does it have to do with Santa and/or anybody being offended? Am I missing something...? Well Derrick this story proves to me that you ARE indeed a good guy and you just happen to have a strong sense of humor and that you can say things in a very humorous way, sometimes in a sarcastic humorours way....,I personally LOVE funny sarcasm!.. I'm guilty of laughing while reading many of your threads before, and I never doubted that this particular thread was meant as a joke and not to offend anybody, after reading this story, it reassures how I already felt....

I tend to laugh when people fall too....:omg: , if it's an older person, I won't laugh either, that is my rule... then again, I laugh even harder when *I* fall! sometimes I can't get up because I'm hysterically laughing.... Now, if the person is actually hurt, I'll be the first one running to help and of course I won't laugh any further, (common sense)but in most cases falling in our butts could be pretty darn funny....isn't it?:faint:

You know, I've heard many funny Christian jokes, but never coming from an Islamic....it would be great to hear some, I bet they have really good material! ;)and they can probably make the joke sound funnier than anybody else could!:biggrin1:

I do agree with you phyllis.... I totally disagree that something said in a regular/serious conversation is meant in the same way as something said as an obvious joke... therefore I think it could acceptable as a joke, but not acceptalble as a serious statement... But it's like I was talking to Laurend earlier... I can understand how different people have different levels of tolerance towards jokes.... it's not either we have a sense of humor or we don't.... which is pretty much the way I am, it's more depending on the audience, who says the joke, when, etc.... which in my opinion, it can take the fun out the the joke... so that's why I take it as a plain joke and laugh... I don't know if you have ever heard of Ralphy May... he was the winner or one of the finalists of "The last comic standing" and he jokes about absolutely EVERYTHING! including Christians, who I am one.... well, I laugh at ALL his jokes... it doesn't bother me that some of them are Christian jokes, I still think he is funny.... so I guess I'm one of those that is more "black or white" when it comes to sense of humor, I pretty much laugh at anything that's funny, when said in a funny way or as a joke, I'd like to believe that I can tell the difference from a joke or a vicious comment, but I get that other people are more sensitive about this.... same way I could be more sensitive about other things instead of humor...

Well, let's see, because Chris posted that Derrick's thread was a joke and it was meant to be funny and that maybe we should lighten up, he was just expressing his opinion of a thread, not even defending the joke itself... and she called him names... an idiot among other things and said a bunch of other things implying that he was a bigot and scum, etc...remember Chris wasn't even the one who posted the joke, he was merely expressing his opinion on just the fact the the thread was a joke, she made it her mission to attack him throught the whole threat, I don't know Chris, I wasn't defending him, I was defending his right to express his opinion of a thread, if she would've stuck on defending her opinion instead of calling names and making personal attacks, then I don't have a problem with that, but then she tops it of with calling Eddie Murphy a Filthy pig....again, calling someone else names.... if she feels that Chris is an idiot among many other harsh things just because he may have found a joke funny, then I wonder what she thinks of the millions of people that laugh and find Eddie Murphy funny? since he is a "filthy pig"......... I am going to dare and say that she probably doesn't think much of all of us who listen to Eddie.... to me, it's the same case with Chris as with Eddie... so I stand for what I say and I don't believe I was exagerating..:biggrin1:

The one thing I agree with you is that it does depend on the audience.... What I've learned from this thread was that while I thought that some have a sense of humor and some just don't may not be accurate, I think now that different people have different tolerance levels towards jokes or different levels of sense of humor and that's what makes different audiences... I get that...

LOL! Oh I find all this so funny too!!! In my opinion, you keep saying things that make no sense, that contradict yourself, I personaly think you are wrong, more wrong and extremely wrong...but what do I know right? I'm pro life, but after listening to you and imagining the example that you may set for your baby, well, all of a sudden pro choice is starting to make more sense to me, I hope I change my mind once I don't read your posts any longer.... so this is it for me, if you think you are correct on everything you are saying, then keep living your life like that... ultimately you will live with the consequences of your actions, words, etc... I think we all tried to knock some good sense into you, you are young, pregnant and all and I think most people here had the best intentions to give you some good advise, but if you don't want to listen, that's ok.... you are the one that has to live with yourself.... Well, but that is exactly the difference I see... when a racial comment is made in a regular/serious conversation, it was obvoiusly meant to be serious, if said as a joke, it doesn't have to meaningful, but just for the purpose of laughing at ourselves... and I say ourselves only because I laugh at Christian jokes, hispanic jokes... if they are funny I laugh and don't take seriously, but I guess depends how people take jokes, if someone cannot think of something said and meant as a joke as not serious or meaningful , then that person may be offended, if you can process it as JUST a joke, then you can just laugh, I laugh at my own faults many times, it's part of my healing from the very serious hardships that I have to endure sometimes... it helps me....:omg:

OK, I'll be blunt, if someone is promiscuous, in my opinion, that is indecent....and in my opinion your friend is indecent.... should she change her behavior, then I won't find her indecent any longer, but as long as she keeps it, she is indecent in my eyes .period.. she may not be a bad person overall, but indecent indeed...sorry, I really am not try to offend her.... it's just my opinion.... :cry

Sorry Wassa, you know I like you much! but in my opinion it is fair.... That's the way I processed her comment in my mind.... I'm not saying that I'm 100% right... but that's the way it came across for me...just my opinion... Why don't you find it fair? maybe if I hear the reason behind it can process it differently...

Jachut, Chris wasn't "defending" the joke, he was simply expressing that it WAS a joke and that he thought it was funny, which is actually different from "defending" the joke .... Also, in case you didn't notice, he wasn't the only one expressing the same point of view, there were others.... including me.... Also, millions of americans LOVE Eddie Murphy!!!!!!!!!!! me included!!!!!!!!! and everything he says I take it as a JOKE! and I think he is darn hilarious! granted that I'm not saying that Chris likes him or not, I don't know that, I'm only speaking for myself.... If I'd go by what you said about the way you feel about Eddie Murphy, I guess youmay then think that millions of americans are filthy pigs because they are all laughing at his jokes.....

Oh gee... I for one can see the difference of an obvious racial slur and a stupid joke.... I could punch somebody for saying a racial slur and I could laugh about the stupid joke...yes, even if involves a religion, it's still a joke....I agree with you Chris.:faint:
