scroll down to the list of reasons to lose weight and add yours
Elisabethsew says it all! Aside from the obvious health reasons for me this also includes: running with my 10 year old around the yard; fitting in a booth at a:hungry: restaurant without it cutting into my stomach (and not having to ask for a table w/ chairs); feeling sexy:Banane20: about taking my clothes off in front of my husband with the lights ON; riding a bike again; doing a bathing suit in public:ip:; wearing sleeveless shirts (I haven't done this in 25 years!); dancing again; riding rides w/ my child at amusement parks and not worrying if I will fit in it and for my work. I work for USDA and am required to walk over all kinds of terrain. Needless to say, pre-op at 274.5 lbs, almost prevented me from doing my job. On a more serious health note, my mother passed away 13 years ago at the age of 50 from a heart attack. I just turned 40. That's some serious motivation to become healthy as I probably am the poster child for inheriting heart disease (my dad has had 4 heart attacks and quadruple bypass surgery). It's really pretty frightening when I stop and think about the road I was headed down prior to my surgery. I just think the Lord that I am 4 months post-op and down 40+ lbs. Now I'm like a kid at Xmas shopping for new activities that I can do with this weight loss success!!! How's that for a long answer to a short questioned post???

Who went home the same day?
I had surgery at 7:30 a.m. The anesthesia made me a little nauseous after I woke up so I had to stay two extra hours. Still though, I left the hospital at 4:30 and went home and slept like a baby. This was on Wednesday, had no pain, and was back at work on Monday. It went slick as a whistle!! :-)

Explain your name on LBT...
I am the super proud mom of Isaac!! He is 9 yrs. old (though soon to be 10). He has really enjoyed my surgery as now he says that he is my "official exercise coach!"

Do you tan?
Help Outdoorgrl....I've been wondering about the airbrush tanning. It's a new thing here and I thought about trying it because I don't do tanning beds. But this may sound stupid, I was wondering how they would handle my fat layers??? How do they do it exactly?? I was wondering how even it would look since my body isn't tight and smooth and may be a rough canvas to paint on! :-)

Fun Thread - Screen Names
Iziksmom - pretty subtle way of telling you that I am mom to a 9 yr. old named Isaac! Stripper name - I would be Lynn McLin. Or with dog/maiden name method, I would be Shine Oldham. Who would want to see me shine my old ham?? LOL

Gone for Good Club - May 2006
:grouphug: Well phooey, no change this week for me. My 40th birthday is tomorrow and I had hoped to have lost 40 lbs. but I'm stuck at 36 lbs. Heather you are on an awesome journey!! I hope I have that much success for the six month mark! I got my first fill two weeks ago and I quickly lost 3 lbs. and felt restriction. Now I don't feel any restriction and I didn't lose this past week. I've seen where folks say it may take 2 weeks or so to kick in. I'm hoping thats the case. So.... my report this week is: C 238.5 (-36 lbs total, -0 this week)

Gotta ask this sex question....
Okay, this may be a really stupid question,:grouphug: but does anyone know of any problems with sex in the missionary position??? I'm afraid my husband's weight (albeit 160 lbs.) might jar the band loose or the port. I meant to ask the doctor last time I was in but totally forgot. Just wondering if anyone has discussed this with their doctor....
-
I finally feel my restriction!
Wow, that's great!! I got my first fill two weeks ago and I felt restriction for a couple of days. I even lost 3 lbs. in the week following. However, this past week, I haven't lost anything and I don't feel as restricted as I did right after the fill. I've heard people on here say that fills might not kick in until the 2nd week or so. I'm just wondering if I should go back to the doctor if I don't lose this next week, or wait until my scheduled visit on May 30??? Any advice out there??? Thanks!! :-)

I'll try to keep my butt a movin' this coming week!! :-) Thanks for everyone's encouragement here on LBT!! I love it!!

1st Fill Today.. Could use input please
Thanks for the input folks! I figured I would have to go back to my post-op "basics". I guess I'm just a little scared so I will definitely err on the side of caution. I appreciate you sharing!! :-)

1st Fill Today.. Could use input please
Well, I'm 11 weeks out and had my first fill today. The doc put in 1.5 cc. I really didn't know what to expect and it was quite different. He told me to do liquids for the next 48 hours. I first thought I was going to throw up when he put the saline in because I had to swallow water and tell him whether or not it was going down okay. It was like I could actually feel the tightening happening. Did anybody else have this feeling??? I guess I'm afraid when I start back on solids in a couple of days that things might not go down. I guess I realized today that filling is not an exact science. Can anybody give me an idea of how things might go after I finish my liquids in a couple of days??? I'm assuming that I will go back thru the cycle like I did coming off surgery and gradually work my way back to solids. Thanks for any insight you guys can give me!:help:
