That is fantastic! Brag away! I think it is just important that we post our successes as it is to post about our struggles. I remind myself of that everytime I want to post my positive updates (AKA bragging).

liquids are much easier to get in for many people... but be very careful of the solid-ish foods! If you are eating mostly broth you should be fine... but if you are eating more solids in the broth you need to start measuring and limiting them if you want to be more successful. It is easy to try to push limits, but the goal is to try to stick to the diet as outlined by the nutritionist. You really shouldn't be trying to eat more than a half cup of the solids this early out. But again... pushing fluids is fine.

momof3_angels reacted to New&Improved in My surgeons advice 3 months check up
Had a great day seeing my surgeon and checking in for my 3 months post op RNY.
My blood results were great all my Vitamin levels are good just my healthy cholesterol a little low so he said to start eating a little more food more fish and olive oil etc.
He said I've done amazingly to get from 322lbs(146kg) to 186lbs(84.4kg) in just 5 & 1/2 months.
I've shed 90% of my EBW; I'm about like 3lbs from "healthy bmi"
Surgeon said now to stop worrying about the numbers as much & to just concentrate on more variety in my diet and thinking long term.
if I stay at this weight it's perfectly fine if I lose a few more lbs that's great but to stop stressing so much about the lbs as I've done so well.
He said I'm in like the top 5% of all his patients results to lose 90% EBW
it was great to see his receptionists were shocked as was the surgeon when they saw me.
It felt good to get such great praise 😀
So that's my new philosophy to try more variety in my diet; I'll still check my weight each day but I won't stress so much about it
I've dropped 136lbs and dropped like 18 BMI points and multiple dress sizes all in just 5.5 months.
his other main point was to start building some kind of muscle tone coz I am looking kinda skin and bones at the moment Lol.
    first world problems 😀
I feel amazing like so much more energy everyday. I love seeing old friends for the first time in months and their reactions are great!
Now hopefully when I'm ready I'll be able to meet a nice young lady and start a beautiful family; that is my long term goal
Thanks to everyone on here for all your support!!

My husband has an eating disorder that basically keeps him from eating or even touching vegetables and fruit. In his previous relationship, he did everything (including cooking and packing lunches), so my two step children (8 and 6) never really knew what healthy foods looked like before I came into the picture.
Breakfast was always some sugary Cereal. Their lunches were made up of primarily a couple pieces of rye bread with butter and lunch meat on it. A typical dinner would be frikadeller (meatballs) and brown sauce. It could have been worse, but still -- that wasn't going to cut it for me. These children are my responsibility now, too, and I won't let my kids grow up like this.. like me.
I remember my husband telling me a story about his neighbor trying to help him with his condition by making lasagna (with carrots in it) and having him and the kids try it. The kids were eating it up, but once they saw that their dad couldn't handle it, they stopped eating it too.
Roughly 2 years ago is when I came into their lives. I am the parent who takes care of the food, from meal plans to getting it on the table. I started making dishes where the kids could choose at least one healthy thing to go into it, while my husband could eat it plain. They fought with me at first, told me they didn't like x, y, z, but I was persistent. I also started making food that would just normally include vegetables, like chicken stir-fry, or tuna & broccoli casserole, which only had minor nitpicking in response. I started putting mixed vegetables or just a specific vegetable as a side and they were told to eat them first. They do this without any complaints now. I don't even have to ask them to eat it first because I know they will finish it.
These days, my daughter begs for me to make asparagus for both dinner and to take to school for her lunches & my son is always picking out fruit in the grocery store. 👍
For breakfast, we've ditched the sugary cereal and have started going with whole-grain, if we don't have time to sit down for a real meal. My husband put sugar in their cereal one morning and received complaints from the kids that it was too sweet for them. On days where we all have our **** together on time, we will usually have eggs, bacon, and fruit, or a whole-grain bagel with low-fat cream cheese and fruit on the side.
Lunch boxes rarely come back with anything left in them. Unless we have leftovers that are wanted for lunch, the rye bread remains, but I've added oranges, grapes, apples, carrots, etc. Snacks usually consist low-fat yogurt or whole-grain crackers/pretzels.
This was all done while their dad sat at the table and didn't participate in adding vegetables to his diet and sometimes even needed a completely separate meal made for him. It wasn't easy to get the kids to this point, but that felt like it was more because they had formed a habit of not eating properly and didn't want to change it, rather than being worried about what dad was eating.
Either way, I think leading by example is a good way to teach children anything. I see so much of myself in these kids that aren't even biologically mine and it's because they mimic almost everything I do. 😅 Even though you won't be on the liquid diet for long, I think you should explain why you are having to eat that way and why they should be eating the way you are presenting food to them. If quick foods are a necessity, I'd recommend some kind of meal prepping once a week so that the kids and you will have something healthy and easy to grab and go with.

I am so excited! So... my height in this site and with my surgeon is listed at 5'4" as my surgeon rounds down (and here half inches are not possible to enter). But my REAL height is between 5'4.5" to 5'4.75" according to all my other doctor's offices and what I have always known it to be. So, periodically I put my real height into the National Institute of Health BMI calculator. Today I put in 5'4.5" in, and that has me at 24.9 for my bmi... which is the highest of the NORMAL WEIGHT BMI's! I am 12.6 pounds below my doctors goal weight of 160. And I am 12.4 pounds from my personal goal weight of 135. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to lose the last 12.4 pounds. I do hope I get there, but I am thrilled where I am now too... so any weight lost at this point and beyond is simply "bonus" for me.
I will be 5 months post op tomorrow. I have lost a total of 46 inches as of 2/1/2020 (all measurements together, neck, chest, waist, hips, thighs and biceps). I wear mostly women's size 8 in pants, but I do have a couple size 6 pants that fit and look fine. I wear mostly women's medium tops, but some are looking a bit big and I can wear SOME size smalls. My weight loss has truly slowed down. I go many days with a 2-3 pound fluctuation, and then a little drop, then many days again with 2-3 pounds fluctuation. While I hate that the loss is slower, I know it is normal at this point. And the inches are still coming off, which is great. I am also so much more active than I was this time last year.

Hey guys had a very slow week only lost 2.2lbs.
But I am getting very close to the end of my weight loss journey.
    I started my diet before surgery;
Today is 5 months and 1 week from start of my diet and 3 months 1 week since RNY surgery.
    Highest weight was 322lbs.
    Surgery weight was 257lbs
    Current weight 185.8lbs
I've actually surpassed my dietitians goal but I'm not totally happy yet still got some stubborn fat on my lower stomach to lose so I'm going to try get to 180lbs I think 😀
I really need to start working out I think.
BMI down from 43.6 to 25.1 so very close to healthy lol
    THANKS everyone for your support.

At 3 weeks, definitely eat slower and chew your food much better than you normally chew! I also found it was best that I ate foods that were much more moist. So... I ate a lot of soupy foods. My episodes lasted 15-20 minutes for the most part. But there have been a few days when I go to sleep feeling absolutely sick from whatever I ate not going down well. Just learn your signs that you are getting full and listen to them! And again... moist foods go down much better.
