Yayy!! That’s great. I am almost 3 weeks. 2 weeks 5days. And I am down 27lbs. Idk why I am losing so fast. I think it may be because I was on a more solid diet pretty fast. But idk. -

Just did my weekly weigh in, down 19 lbs in two weeks since surgery. Eating lunch, 3 oz of refried Beans which is taking me about 25 minutes to eat. Prior to surgery it would have been less than a minute to scarf them down along with a bunch of tortilla chips.

Uomograsso got a reaction from KBailey2022 in 4 days Post-OP struggles
You have to drink. In the hospital the gave me one ounce cups and I needed to drink four per hour. One ounce every 15 minutes. My stomach hurt at first but knowing I had to do it to get released made me do it. Eventually it got better. I don't think there is any magic trick, but just break it down to one ounce every 15 minutes. Set a timer if you need to.

Uomograsso got a reaction from BoredFatGirl in Low-Carb Sriracha Sauce?
The Sriracha sauce I use, Tuong Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, only has 1 carb and 5 calories per serving. Not sure if you can get it in EU though. Maybe from Amazon?

Uomograsso reacted to Recidivist in Travel in the USA
Hi, OzCaz. I'm from the U.S. but live in Canberra!
A few options:
- Just order appetizers or sides (that's what I normally do). At Breakfast, I typically order a meat side only, like bacon or sausage. Not great in terms of fat, but it is Protein.
- Don't order anything and eat a small portion of your partner's main course.
- Order from the children's menu if they let you. If you are comfortable with it, you could tell them you've had the surgery as an explanation--it's much more common in the U.S.
- Some restaurants will allow you to order half-portions at a reduced price. The portion will still be too large, but you wouldn't be wasting as much money as with a full portion.
- Eat something high-protein and bariatric friendly before you go out to eat and just have tea while your partner eats lunch or dinner. (I've done this as well. The servers won't love it, but it's your right!)

Two weeks out from surgery and moving on to phase 2, pureed foods. Just had about 3 oz of refried Beans for lunch and they were soooooo good. Nice to be able have something with a little more substance than Jello or pudding.

Uomograsso got a reaction from sarahSingh91 in Calories after VSG
I wasn't given calorie goals, rather I have daily Protein goals. During two week liquid phase I need to get minimum of 45 grams of protein daily. I have been averaging about 60 to 75 daily with about 500-600 calories per day. I get to start on phase two on this Thursday, yeah! Phase two for me is pureed food for two weeks. For this phase I need to get a minimum of 60 grams of protein per day. Phase three is soft foods for two weeks, again getting minimum of 60 grams of protein each day. Phase four is to integrate regular foods back into my diet getting 60-80 grams of protein per day. Eating three meals a day with 1 to 2 Snacks. This is all based off the information given to me by my dietitian. So long story short I am concentrating on protein not calories.

I forgot that surgery can mess with your hormones/mentrual cycle so I now I'm feeling cycle symptoms again wondering if my new hips and larger than expected cup size will disappear soon.

Uomograsso got a reaction from FluffyChix in Slightly Discouraged
I had a similar thing crop up during my testing. When I had my EGD they found a mass in my duodenum. They took a biopsy and it turned out to be non-cancerous, when. I went to a specialist and he recommended leaving it as the mass was near my pancreatic and bile ducts. He said the surgery to remove it was very involved and since it was non-cancerous it would be best to leave it and just check it in six months. He said me having WLS surgery would be a plus as if I had to have surgery, losing weight would make that surgery easier. Trust your doctor and definitely get a second opinion from someone who specializes in pancreatic surgery. It will work out for you.

Uomograsso reacted to New&Improved in Discouraged and need advice
You can only offer so much advice; if someone chooses not to take it then plz do not complain about Your slow weight loss without expecting back lash...
We maynot be "qualified" dietitian but we HAVE actually lived with WLS and if we have done well it shows that we must know what we're talking about...
People have got to stop making excuses to eat bad food unless they want to go back to their unhealthy weight...

Uomograsso reacted to Fatboyslim1 in Blindsided by an anxiety crisis
perhaps you need to think about new types of food, that are different than what you have eaten all your life. Think of food as an exciting adventure in taste, texture, spice, hot, etc..,. Not just sweet and savory.
The other morning for Breakfast I had a Tomato sliced up in a bowl, large sea salt crystals for crunch, a can of sardines ( in water). on top with a bit of balsamic vinegar and some capers. 200 calories.
way, way outside of my typical breakfast, but very good and now I want it again. Sure it's easy to eat a bowl of Cereal, but how ordinary ( and fattening).
There are so many great things to cook / prepare that are not carb loaded crap. Experience new stuff. It's not really that expensive, because now the portions are smal

Don't worry, that too shall pass, lol. Luckily I didn't have that requirement to go home. They just listened to make sure my bowels were making noise. I have been pretty gassy since about day 4 Post-OP with my first BM on day 10. Ask your doctor about adding Fiber to your liquid diet like Miralax or benefiber. That should help as well.
