  1. Hi just seen this post and am trying to get a fill at home. I have sent an email to a lady called Jane who goes around doing fills in the UK. Is this the same name of the lady who you are refering to. If not could you please give me her details, Many Thanks
  2. Does anyone know where I can get non-coring or huber needles or needles used to fill the band in the UK please?
  3. I have had a lapband since 2005 and lost around 7st. I have just recently had an operation to have ovaries and cysts removed in which I had to have open surgery rather than key hole. Due to this operation I had to be deflated and cannot have it put back in until I have had my 6week check up (10th November). I was filled to capacity. The hospital has said they will put it back in so, do I assume that they will do this free of charge? I am under the impression that it will be done free of charge. I also asked my original band filler on how I should go about these fills and they said I shouldn't have it all put back in all at once which, I do expect the hospital not to do this anyway as they have there own department now for bands and fills and would know what they are doing. The person I spoke to said it should be done in two stages at least. I am starting to put weight on as I feel so hungry which has surprised me. I would of thought, that after 6yrs my stomach would of shrank that I would of been full on the same amount I have been consuming but it's almost like I can eat the same as before the band was fitted. I did expect to put a bit of weight on as lack of exercise due not being able to move around as much but not the hunger. I also have found that, when the band was filled I didn't want certain food as soon as it was deflated I started getting cravings.
  4. I think before coming to London you should first find out if there is anywhere where you live or can travel to that would give you a fill without them actually doing the band fit. It would be a waste of money if you can't get a fill. I don't think that it is too close to your visit date to London to make an appointment for your consultation in London and the surgery in Belgium, depends on who you are going with for your band. I had mine done in Belgium with a Dr Dillimens but my consultation was in London and you can book almost within days of the consultation for your surgery. Visit this website St. Jan Hospital | International Health Care Ltd. You can phone the hospital in Belgium, they do speak very good English and they will answer all those questions and also tell you where you could go for your fills if you go through them. They also have very good hotels that they advise you to stay and their driver picks you up to and from hotel and hospital and back again. It's easy done on your own. Tell them you would need to have consultation in London or Belgium and then surgery in belgium within those dates is it possible and do they have a surgery in your hometown or near by for your fills. Good Luck:smile2:
  5. Hi I was banded with Dr Dillimans back in 2005 to I have now had 7 fills which the last 2 were with Anne Diamonds consultant anyway, I have lost 5st and have been sick many times. I have never heard of the band tightening due to being sick if anything it would end up loose or splitting. If your are being sick each time you eat them may be one, your trying to eat too much or your band is too tight. If you have not lost anything could this be due to the kinds of food you are eating. The band is a tool to help you lose weight you still have to watch the amount of callories you are having.
  6. Dr Dillimens Fitted my band in May 2006 and I stayed for 3 days. I made my own arrangements for the hotel at the hotel advised by them. With the surgery, travel and stay it cost me £3200 this was under the European Weight loss Surgery. Fills are not included and were £70 but went up to £90 in London Barns. I lost the first st very quickly. To date I have lost 3.7st with 6 fills. I have just had my 7th fill after not having one for a year so hopefully this weight loss will start moving again which I think it will. Where you told what the name of the band is? I can't remember what mine is called.. The pain in the left shoulder is the worse. It's there because of the gas after surgery and you get this same pain if you eat too much. This pain is caused by the stomach pressing against a nerve.
  7. Is anyone having there fills with Shaw Somers and what are his price's now? I did contact him but that was a year ago. thanks
  8. I was banded back in May 2006 and to date have lost nearly 4 stone. My last fill was back in jan last year and have been what I think at my best restriction without it being too tight. At certain times of the day it is very tight and I do PB but........The amount of food I am having seems to be enough to maintain my weight. If I cut down I feel light headed and sick. I dont think I need another fill cos it will be too tight all the time but I'm not losing any more weight. Is there anything anyone knows that would kick start the weight loss again?
  9. I think you will find a lot went private and over seas. I had mine done in Brussels by a Dr Dillimens who has had loads of experience. All the fills are done in London Barnes
  10. The price with Dr Dillimans for surgery only doesn't include the fills. If you are having your fills at Barnes London then they are £90
  11. If you have the op with who you booked with, there is nothing wrong with having your fills by other fill doctors.
  12. surly your deposit is refundable, if so get it refuned and have a good look at the belguim doctors half the price and loads more cleaner then our hospitals.
  13. I had my band fitted with Dr Dilleman's over a year ago and he never mentioned an RNY to me but, in my room there were another two ladies both who were a lot larger then me and one had the band the other an RNY. What we could gather is, he goes by your diet. If your diet is healthy but a big eater, he offers the band, if your weight seems to be from a poor diet then it's the RNY offered. May be wrong.
  14. Hi I had my band fitted well over a year ago in Burge by Dr Dillimans it cost with travel and stay in the hotel nearly 4,000. I have had 5 fills and lost 3st. I could not fault in anyway the treatment in Belguim and how clean the hospitals are over there. I certainly would not pay 8,000 for it.
  15. If anyone is stuck for a fill, I have just received a mail from the obesity care centre who I went through and in their mail it stated the following: If you know other patients who look for after care service (by WLS or personal experiences) please hand over our details to them. The more patients, the quicker we can start at other locations. Weight loss and gastric band Different than other restrictive surgery, weight loss with the gastric band depends on your own dedication and the fills (or adjustments). For good weight loss, regular fills and check-ups are needed, a minimum of 4-5 fills in the first year and even after 2 years fills could be considered. If you have too little restriction or no restriction at all after 3 fills (minimum input over 5ml) we urgently request you to contact Jaap Suyk for advise about fills under x-ray and nutrition guidelines at j.suyk@obesitycare.co.uk. Don't wait too long.
