  1. Oh my.... I'm a week out (tomorrow) and will now be even more careful with what I am doing so this doesn't happen to me! What sort of pain are you having? When I cough or sneeze, my port incision feels like it's ripping open from the inside... Like a stabbing/stinging/burning pain. It's dreadful.
  2. So glad everything went well for you! I am 1 week post-op tomorrow and finally feeling better! I had a rough first couple days.
  3. If you would have asked me a few days ago, I would have said... "What in the heck did I do and why?". I think during my first 4 days post-op I even emailed my friends telling them I wish I would have just stayed fat & not gone through with it. I was in that much discomfort.... Now that I am a week post-op and the major pain is gone, I am REALLY glad I did it! This IS going to work for me.
  4. I went and got some isopure today. Doesn't taste good to me, but I will force myself to drink it for the protein. I also bought a New Whey protein shot (42 grams). Haven't tried that one yet. Thanks for the info.
  5. I was banded a day before you and I have the same noises & I can't tell when I have had enough fluids. I try to keep sipping Water all day even though I feel full. Today I am able to drink water a little faster then I was yesterday. Like someone else said, I believe these are gas/digestive sounds. I am PRAYING mine stop by Thursday because I do not want to be making those sounds at work!
  6. Banded on July 9th - Hunger? What is that? food is the last thing on my mind.
  7. No misunderstanding. The nutritionist said it very clearly before I was discharged and then gave me a print out that clearly states I can have only the following for 2 weeks post-op Sugar Free Jello Broth Sugar Free Popsicles water decafe tea uncarbonated, sugar free drinks After my 2 week post-op appointment I will be able to add protein drinks and tomato soup. I think I will try the Isopure...now to figure out which flavor...
  8. How many of you other July bandsters have a post-op diet of clear liquids only for 2 weeks? I'm worried about not getting in any protein.
  9. Try Jay Robb protein powder - either chocolate or strawberry. They are delicious with no sugar, 1 carb and 20 (or 25) grams protein per scoop.
  10. I work in customer service and was banded on July 9th (wednesday) supposed to return to work today. No way was that happening. I am just not fully functioning yet. A slight cough, laugh or wrong movement has my port incision feeling like it's ripping open from the inside and I am still gassy and spending a lot of time in the bathroom. I extended my time off until this coming Thursday.
  11. The first 2 weeks post-op for me consist of broths, sugar free Jello, popcicles, sugar free drinks. Tried chicken broth and beef broth...both made me want to vomit. My savior has been Matzo Ball Soup broth. I found the already made soup in a jar at the grocery store. I pour it through a strainer before drinking it. I am also doing well drinking Miso soup (strain it prior). My all time favorite Protein shake is Jay Robb, both chocolate and strawberry. I also liked the
  12. Apple juice sounds refreshing. My doc says no apple juice (no fruit juice). The sugar free drinks are causing major gas/diarreah for me. :smile2: There is a electrolyte drink called recharge at the healthfood store that I think I will call & ask about today. It does contain fruit juice so I don't know if it will be allowed. I need something other then Water 24/7.
  13. Your post made me smile and almost laugh but I held the laugh back. Laughing right now feels like my insides are ripping open… This happened to me yesterday morning – 3 days post-op. It was horrific! Thank GOD I was home where I could just get right in to the shower.:smile2:
  14. I know I need the water, I just can't get that much down. uhggg....
  15. I was banded on the 9th. I'm 10 pounds down since surgery day. Pre surgery I lost 20 pounds. food is not even in my vocab right now. My mind wont even go there.
  16. I was banded on the 9th and I am having some terrible back pains as well. You are not alone.
  17. I called the insurance daily. Mine was a quick approval-only took a few days. The first day I called the insurance lady told me to check back in one week & she gave me a looong explanation of how this approval may take a while....I told her no way would i wait a week to call back, expect to hear from me daily until i get my approval. I started this process on May 23rd & now here i am sitting in the hospital waiting to be admitted to get my band. Keep on calling!
  18. Today is my day. I feel like i am dying of thirst and I have a headache coming on. Having a 12:45 pm surgery is not easy.... I hope all you other July 9 banders are doing well.
  19. Thanks for posting! It's encouraging that you are feeling good enough to go back to work 6 days out. I'll be banded on the 9th and returning to work on the 14th...
  20. missrach, I just noticed you are not far from me. Which doctor are you using?
  21. My date is the 9th too. I'm excited & I know this is the right thing for me... BUT I'm also starting to get nervous. I think the nerves are just natural for us when we are getting ready for any type of surgical procedure. Stay positive and try keeping yourself busy with other things so you don't think too much about the surgery.

  23. Hi Allie. I'm also scheduled to be banded on the 9th & I'm also Ali (pronounced Allie). I will be sitting on the edge of my seat for the next week waiting with you... Do you have to do the liquid pre-op diet? Mine starts tomorrow. Good thoughts coming your way!
  24. I got my date today. July 9th!
