There is a high Protein version of almost everything now - so that's what I try and go for. I have protein donuts, brownies, Cookies, cake - everything!

Flo-grown reacted to AZhiker in Sister freaking out about me considering WLS
Yup, it is your choice and I applaud you for wanting to get healthier. I was 63 when I got my bypass and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have my life back! I am doing things now I never could have dreamed of a year ago. And you know what? I can eat ANYTHING I WANT! I just don't want the same junky stuff anymore! I went out to eat tonight with our staff and had a wonderful meal with lots of leftovers to bring home.
After surgery, your tastes change and as you build your new lifestyle, you will start choosing healthier options in small portions. I promise you - a year after surgery you CAN eat anything you want, but you just won't want the same foods or same portions. You will also have learned to exchange the pleasure from food with pleasure from things that are more meaningful and lasting. You will be free from the entrapment of food and the chains of always needing food to meet your emotional needs. You still have to do the hard work, but surgery is an incredible gift and tool to help you get the life back that you have lost and deserve to find again.

Flo-grown reacted to GradyCat in My 1 Year Surgiversary
This week marks my one year surgiversary.
I stopped losing weight at 6 months. I just stalled. I never gained back any weight, but I didn't lose any more weight.
But I'm still happy with my results and I am confident that I will lose more weight in 2020.
Toward that end, I visited the nutritionist this week to get back on track. My meals were still good with portions, plenty of Protein, plenty of Water, but some Cookies and chocolate sugary Snacks had made their way into my diet that I have eliminated in the last 4 days.
So here's to a new year in 2020 and a new chance to get back on track/stay on track with additional weight loss and increased health.

Flo-grown reacted to darcyjae in July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
Very happy to report that I've hit my 2019 milestone goal and dropped under 200 this weekend for the first time since my 20s. Next milestone is to get under 180 (my surgeon's goal for me) and out of the obese category! (Haven't seen that weight since my teens.)
I hope the rest of you are doing well. I know the holidays can be a challenge with food, so wishing everyone lots of luck! ❤️

I’m not sure I agree with this assessment by the nutritionist. Most people got to be obese by eating many non-healthy foods. For some, “new foods” might comprise healthy food they’ve never tried. I think trying out new healthy foods is smart, to replace poor choices, and a broad variety of options probably makes weight loss more sustainable. My current staple foods include a few things I’d never had before surgery. Perhaps the nutritionist was talking about unhealthy choices?

So I'm 4 months post op down 57.2 lbs. It's not easy but so worth it. Feeling so much better. Meds drastically decreased almost obsolete. Starting with day after surgery.

Flo-grown reacted to catwoman7 in Weight Loss Stall
everybody. Do a search on the "three-week stall" (although it's not always the third week - sometimes it's the second - or fourth- or fifth - but at any rate, sometime within the first 4-6 weeks of surgery). You will find HUNDREDS of posts on this if you search it.
P.S. Don't fast. You need the nutrition for healing. Just stick to your surgeon's program. The stall WILL break, I promise.

Flo-grown reacted to Brent701 in 7 Months Post Op
thanks everyone. The other thing worth adding that has changed in the past month or so is that hunger has been ever so slowly returning. The weight came off so effortlessly at first but now it feels like a real grind. Of course nothing worth anything ever comes easy and I know that means I am going to have to work at the exercise part.
